The text “Grandma, Please don`t come?” is a text of a young man from Puerto Rico who is immigrated into the United States of America. He writes this letter to his grandmother and ask her not into the United States to come. The author criticizes the American society and the state. I think already that this criticism from the view of a man from Puerto Rico is justified. He criticizes above all the society in the points that it wants to have only money and prosperity. In this course he criticizes also the strongly imperialism in America. The moreover it has a problem with the fact that the American society is a society, which lives very fast. The author describes that they live in Puerto Rico, as if the day has 48 hours. He criticized also the weather and describes the snow. In Puerto Rico it doesn`t snow and it personally finds snow cruel. He loves sun and beautiful warm weather. But this is one point for which the Americans nothing can. Further he criticizes that he finds it bad that the Americans see only the individual people and not the hole society. If someone is poor, then it remains it also and by the others is even still ignored. The author of the letter describes further that the only chance in America is to be survived for foreigners, that one is young and dynamic. I can understand and reconstruct the author and its criticism very well. The life and the mentality in Puerto Rico is a completely different one than it is in the imperialistic America. I can understand the author in its way very well, since it is rather heavy for humans with a southern mentality to live in an organized and through-structured state. I think, that the arguments are good to understand and easy to reconstruct.

Popular culture or Pop-culture is the outcome and method of mass marketing on the World’s youth. It is a powerful “money making” scheme generated by the Media and doubles as a systematic approach to Globalisation. It’s span of influence and control reaches into our cities, streets, cars and homes. It affects our very style of living, it controls our culture.
Popular Culture derives from Youth culture or “University Culture” born in the late sixties by the “Baby Boomers” Generation. At that time the World bore witness to a global economic boom and Australia was no exception. The citizens of that time were provided with great access to higher education at no charge, something previous generations were never granted. Previously, only the elite could study at university and this change meant that anyone could study at a University level regardless of their financial situation.
The Era surrounding the birth of “University Culture” also rendered events such as The Cold War, accompanied by the implementation of Nuclear power, The Vietnam War and the Vietnam Moratorium, a global oil crisis and acid rain. The University culturists took another “radical” step to implement what was called “Participant Democracy”, also known as “Grassroots” democracy. It was the method by which people were able to have more say in political decision making and political agendas than simply filling out a Ballot paper. In essence, participant democracy involves mainly protest movements.
The students or those living in “Youth Culture” were primarily concerned with global environmental issues. This also included protest movements on the relationships between industry (especially energy industries) and political powers.

With rock music’s birth co-inciding with birth of university culture, many musicians participated in protest and equal rights movements. This was the birth of Popular Culture. If a musician produced a composition which portrayed “popular issues”, like opposition to the war in Vietnam, then the youth culturists, who were also protesting against the War, would be keenly interested in such a composition. This process was an effective method of raising public issues, but more significantly, this process let musicians, recording companies, film producers and other media, control public issues. In reality, Popular culture works through media relationships, working together to make a profit.
The American Popular Culture website (www.wsu.edu, 00-06-01) tells us that there are different forms of popular culture including music, film, television, advertising, sports, fashion, toys, magazines and comic books.
One of the most influential types of Media is music. Music provides a powerful media to govern popular culture.
The Drake University says “…Popular music provides not only entertainment, but a common space for the personal, social, and political experiences of youth. Focusing on rock, pop and rap (with a nod to country), we’ll consider the cultural roles of music and musicians; the means by which music gets to its audiences; and the ways in which music is interpreted and used by listeners in a variety of contexts. We look at particular musical subcultures punk, for example, or techno, Goth, lounge, and so on in order to understand how certain social interests and tastes are served by particular performers, songs, and performances.” (www.drake.edu, 00-06-01).
This statement is significant because it talks about a “common” space for personal, social and political experiences. This suggest that popular music builds a community of people, whether it be through smaller groups of subcultures or one larger popular culture, it proves that Popular Culture works to unite social groups which leads to growth of Globalisation.
To ask whom is affected by popular culture is difficult to answer. It would not be hard to say that no-one is unaffected. To a certain extent, it may be easier to say how much a person is considered to be influenced by popular culture. However, it is difficult to judge the level of popular influence, just because a youth listens to Eminem, for example, does not mean they are a victim of mass-marketing. Someone may genuinely enjoy a popular style of music, not just because its cool. It is also common for the process to work in reverse. Youths may enjoy a certain style of music that soon becomes popular whereby the youths promoted the music.
Sub-cultures of Popular culture confuse this issue. One may deconstruct popular music into several different categories, all or some or none of which may be affected by popular culture. A good example of this is “Alternative” music. There is a huge market for people who are not interested in “main stream” music or popular music. So the media provide alternative radio and television stations. Thereby making alternative music and culture, just a different kind of popular music and culture. This kind of music is usually associated with resentment for establishment values which links directly back to 160’s from which popular culture derived. Ironically, this resentment could lead back to itself.
Popular Culture restricts the availability of media. Why is it that Australia shows mainly American films. India has the biggest film industry in the world but how many Indian films are available in contemporary Australian society? Germany produces some of the worlds highest quality films but again, how many German films are present in our society. Popular culture in Australia promotes mainly American music, American films and American fashion. That is not to say that the American entertainment and fashion industries are poor but are simply just about the only ones available to Australian Society. This is more than Just Globalisation but “Americanisation”.
Popular culture does have its benefits though. Along with its “Americansied” popular rubbish, it does provide some quality entertainment. There are undoubtedly a great deal of American talented musicians and film makers, who’s work is made available through popular influence.
Popular Culture is something that is unavoidable. The ongoing effort of mass marketing is not just a passing phase. Popular Culture will drive towards Globalisation and Americanisation. Popular culture creates majority groups and minority groups. Popular Culture has benefits in its own right but is mainly a pounding force in drowning out natural culture, national pride and national talent.

The Website provides resources for the critical analysis of popular culture in the United States including the impact of that culture internationally. The site focuses on issues of race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, cultural imperialism and censorship, as shaped and reflected in various mass media. The site proved to be quite useful. The site also sections that introduce and give resources for four main types or elements of popular culture analysis production analysis, textual analysis, audience analysis and historical analysis. The website did not show an credentials and for that reason it may be unreliable.

This website is provides resources designed in order to understand particular social interests and social traits linked to Popular Culture by an American university. For this reason it is reliable but because of its substance mainly dealing with music it is not greatly useful.
Story, John (150) Cultural studies and the study of popular culture theories and methods, Edinburgh, p.14.
This book provides a background on the origins of Popular Culture. Being written by a University Professor it could be reliable but because of its age it loses credibility. It did prove useful however in its background information.

The Lockheed manager suggests that there is not a connectiion between the mass destructiom weapon factories and the mass destruction over at Columbine High School. I strongly disagree with him and 100% agree with Michael Moore who belives that there is a strong connection between the two. How can todays society say they want to prevent school violence, yet they are the parents of these students working in mass destruction factoires. I dont nessicarily think that by having the parents work at the factories that they would give guns to their kids, but it certainly gives the kids an advantage becasue they can hear their parents discussing what goes on at the factory therefore, giving them more knowledge.
(.)
Although i strongly disagree with the use of guns, I dont think it is a rational thing to say that I think the Second amendment should be in anyway obsolete. America is a very large country and has come a long way in its violence.I think it should have a harder standard on buying a gun and you should only be limited to a cerain amount of guns per household. Some people can have guns in there houses there whole life and never even know how to fire it. Its more of a security issue. People feel safer knowing that they can defend themselves in drastic measures. Back when the nd amandment was first declared, there wasn nearly as much violence as there is now. Also, there wasnt as many other mass destruction weapons.

(.)
When young people commit violent acts, Im sure everyone can relate to your parents saying So if all your friends jumped off a bridge, you would to? . In todays society, kids are brought up to not go with the crowd, not care what people think and to find your own inner self. Unforunatly, some kids enjoy violence. Its not the video games, the violent movies, or Marlyn Manson. All those things are just what people try to ignore and then when something like a shooting happends they blame them. I think that Marlyn Manson, although quite scary looking, is a very brave individual, because unlike others, he is willing to go out there and tell people that he is what they are afraid of. He is the fear and anger in every kid that they cant get out. If you ever listen to his lyircs, You would see that they r all these emotions, he just has a different way of interpreting them. You can drill anti - violence thoughts in you kids head all day long, but in the end, kids are going to do what they want to do wether the parents like it or not.
(4.)
Michael Moore is right. The number of household guns does not necessarily equate the degree of gun violence. I think that the factor that does contribute to the violent nature of society is just plain old curiosity. For most kids, guns are cool to look at. People make such a big deal about it that it obviously makes kids want to see them. If you know a typical kid, you should know that whatever they arent allowed to do is the one thing that they want to do merely because its a normal kids tempting nature.

Out staff of freelance writers includes over 120 experts proficient in marijuana, therefore you can rest assured that your assignment will be handled by only top rated specialists. Order your marijuana paper at affordable prices with LivePaperHelp.com!
Marijuana is the most commonly used drug in the United States. It became popular in the 160s during the time of the Hippie movement. Many of those people experimented with marijuana back then, although it was not as strong or effective as it is today. This drug can cause many problems for people by deteriorating the body and ruining one’s life. Marijuana is probably one of the most harmful drugs available today.
Marijuana is often called pot, grass, reefer, weed, herb, maryjane, dope, or ganja. It is a greenish gray mixture of dried shredded leaves, stems, seeds, and flowers of cannabis sativa, which is a hemp plant. Most users smoke marijuana in hand rolled cigarettes called joints. Marijuana is also smoked out of blunts which are emptied cigar papers. Inside the cigar pipes the marijuana was usually laced with other drugs. Pipes were also used, were sometimes called bongs. Marijuana can also be eaten or brewed in ice tea.
The most active chemical in marijuana is delta--tetrahydrocannabinol which is commonly called THC. This chemical in marijuana causes the mind to have altering effects. The THC level in marijuana has risen dramatically since marijuana first appeared. THC will remain in a persons body as long as four weeks, but it depends on how much the person has smoked. THC causes a cellular reaction that lead to the high. THC also connects to the cannabinoid which is the nerve cell.
Besides the THC in marijuana, there are many other types of drugs that are laced into it. Many of these drugs include PCP, cocaine, many hallucinogens, cough syrup, and embalming fluid. This is one big reason why marijuana is so dangerous because many people do not know these other drugs are in the marijuana when they buy it, and when they smoke it they may come down with some bad side effects. Kinds of marijuana that are around are sinsemilla and hashish. Marijuana is also often grown with many types of chemicals.

More than 8 million Americans age 1 and older have tried marijuana at least once. Marijuana use is widespread among adolescents and young adults. The percentage of middle school students who reported using marijuana increased throughout the early 10s. Although, it is said that in 001 the number of 8th-,10th-, and 1th- graders that have used marijuana has decreased. Marijuana is also a contributor to more than 110,000 emergency room visits in the United States, with about 15 percent of the patients between the ages of 1 and 17 and almost two thirds being male. Also it was found that percent of adult male arrestees and 6 percent of adult female arrestees tested positive for marijuana. Also, for juveniles this is the most common drug found when they are tested. These are some statistics relevant to marijuana.
Marijuana also causes very bad effects to the body and mind. Marijuana produces amotivational syndrome. This syndrome causes the person to have a tendency to be lazy and not want to do anything. This is shown when teenagers that smoke marijuana playing a sport often decide to quit. Also those that do not quit smoking marijuana usually have a lower sense of timing and really bad coordination. Also, many teens that smoke usually get bad grades, tend to be tired during school, and do not pay attention. Also, marijuana impairs a person’s ability to form memories or recall events. This is caused by the THC which alters the way in which information is processed by the hippocampus, a brain area responsible for memory formation. Marijuana also effects a person’s driving perception. Most people will have slow reaction rates, or tend to take more risks when driving that lead to accidents. Another effect of marijuana is that it is a gateway drug. This means that people who smoke marijuana often want to experience a greater high so they will try harder drugs such as heroin, LSD, and cocaine.
Some of the long term effects that marijuana cause, are a little similar to what smoking cigarettes do accept marijuana is a lot worse. Many of the ingredients in marijuana are a lot stronger. Also people that smoke marijuana often inhale more deeply , and hold it in a lot longer. This allows for all the disease causing ingredients to do even more damage. Some examples of lung diseases you might get from smoking marijuana are asthma. Asthma is a life threatening condition that makes breathing difficult. Another lung disease a person may get is emphysema. Emphysema makes a person feel like they can’t catch their breath. Lung cancer is another disease that can occur from smoking. The bad thing about lung cancer is it is always fatal. Lung cancer usually spreads, to other parts of the body before being detected. This disease is very painful, and since it spreads many victims will have pain from other cancers at the same time. Some other diseases marijuana can cause are heart problems. People that smoke a lot may get heart attacks from smoking. This can occur when the heart muscle becomes very weak, and also hardens the arteries which makes fatty deposits stick to the inside blood vessels instead of being swept away. Marijuana can also cause strokes mainly because your blood pressure is too high. Another long term disease caused by marijuana is gang green. This occurs because blood circulation will decrease around the hands and feet, and over time circulation will become so weak the hands and feet will have to be cut off. Marijuana may also effect the brain in such similar ways as hard drugs do. Lastly marijuana can effect women who smoke marijuana while pregnant. What happens is many children that were born to women who smoke are usually slower in school.
Marijuana may also cause many short term effects. Many people that have just smoked marijuana will be very forgetful and have trouble remembering things that just happened. Also they may have distorted perception with things such as sights, sounds, time, and touch. Another short term effect is trouble with thinking problems, and will have very bad coordination. Lastly, marijuana will increase the heart rate right after being used.
After a person smokes marijuana, there are many signs that a person can see that will show that person is high. Some of the signs are the person may be dizzy and have trouble walking. Also they would be very giggly for no reason. Another sign is they will have very red blood shot eyes. Lastly they will become very sleepy after awhile and become very hungry. These are all the effects of marijuana.
Some of the possible solutions for marijuana are legalization. Some reasons it should be legalized is for medical uses for cancer patients. Marijuana can help cancer patients with their pain. One thing many people do not know is that people that have cancer and smoke medical marijuana are just increasing the cancer. There are only certain parts of marijuana that help with the pain of cancer. Other people that want to legalize marijuana are addicts. They basically want to legalize it because selling it would be easier along buying it.
Treatments are now coming out for people that want to quit smoking marijuana. There are clinics people go to, to help quit. Most of the patients are men that started at age 14. Also, most of these patients are dependent on marijuana or have psychological problems. Scientists are also trying to find a way to block the THC effect. These are some of the possible treatments for marijuana.
Marijuana is a drug that has been around for a while, and will probably be around for a lot longer and get a lot more stronger and harmful. This drug has caused many diseases, and caused many deaths. Parts of the marijuana that help with cancer should be legalized, but if all of marijuana is legalized it will just cause more harm to people. This is what marijuana can do to people and how it has effected people around the world.
Please note that this sample paper on marijuana is for your review only. Out staff of freelance writers includes over 120 experts proficient in Black Holes, therefore you can rest assured that your assignment will be handled by only top rated specialists. Order your Black Holes paper at affordable prices with LivePaperHelp.com!
What is really in the center of the milky way?
The topic that I have chosen is black holes and the possibility that they are at the center of the milky way. A black hole is an area in space that has a very powerful gravitational pull. It is so strong that matter and light cannot escape its grasp. The main article I have chosen to use is peering at the edge of time in search of the black hole at the center of our galaxy. Other articles may be sited for back round information. I found the research of this topic both eye opening and inserting
There is some back round information that has to be talked about before the main topic is discussed. Astronomers have reason to believe the black holes come in many different sizes. They use technique called velocity dispersion this gives them an idea on how large a black hole maybe. It is believed that a supper massive blacks hole evaluates from smaller black holes. Massive black holes are found at the center of most galaxies. (Kizer-Witt)
It was thought at one time that black holes form after the galaxy, but new finding are proving this hypothesis wrong. They may have evolved at the same time. All host galaxies and their black hole appear to grow at the same rate. It is thought that either the black hole or the galaxy control the growth of the other. They may have feed of each other in the process. (Fazekas)

According to peering at the edge of time in search of a black hole at the center of our galaxy the first person to think that a black hole was at the center of our galaxy was J. Robert Openhimer in the 10s. The First person to correctly define what a black hole was is John A. Wheeler in 167.If you were looking at directly at the black hole you could see the principles behind Einsteins general theory of relativity. Now astronomers can look at a galactic nucleus.
The Milky Ways center is going the same diction as Sagittarius. This is why the places where the center of the Milky Way is called the Sagittarius A complex. A huge structure is an emitting radio waves near the constellation. This bright dot in our galaxy is called Sagittarius A the asterisk shows its uniqueness. The fact the Sagittarius was important was unknown for sometime. This was because of dust blocking the view.
When astronomers finally got a clear look at the black hole they could see that it was even brighter then they thought. They also found that there was more material then anyone could have foreseen. Its mass is about .6 million suns. Black holes are the brightest objects in the universe. This one does not show any dark spots.
The black hole itself is about five solar diameters. The center of the universe is not the black hole itself. It is known that is an outpouring of radiation from Sagittarius A because it is not separated from the universe. The gas it emits by glowing is hot plasma. The holes brightness will affect the brightness other object that lay beyond it.
Scientists are trying to get a clear picture, but it is too hard to get though the plasma surrounding the black hole. If they could do this, they could prove that there is definitely a black hole beyond the plasma. They think that we may be able to see an image within ten years. Scientists believe that it is a dark roughly circular shadow like body with glowing gases in the back round.
In a black hole the rays are not blocked by it they pass though the plasma and are never seen again. When rays pass the moon they are in straight lines but when they are near Sagittarius A the light is severely bent. The black holes shadow is two and a half times the size of the horizon. They is a chance that a whole universe is trapped in side the black hole but, it is not proven or disproved. Einsteins general theory of relativity said the a region has to be a certain shape and size if it bends and captures light. They are working on measuring these properties. New finding may change some of the theories we believe to be true today.
I learned so much from articles I have read. Honestly before I read about this topic I knew what was said in the movies. I was not sure that they were even real. I rather quickly that they did not only exist there was research trying to explain them.
I have never heard of the fact that there is a black hole in the center of most universes much less the fact that there is one in the center of the Milky Way. This is inserting and very scary at the same time.
We know that black holes are all over the universe and that they consume. We also are aware of the fact that they are different shapes and sizes. What we do not know is how much it consumes and where that material goes when it is consumed. Most of them are bigger then the sun and when you are little you believe that nothing is bigger or more powerful then the sun. I did not know that black holes glow, when you hear the term black hole you think it is black. I found out many things the most important one being that there is a black hole at the center of the Milky Way. A black hole has a very strong gravitational pull. The article I use to find most of my information was peering at the edge of time in search of the black hole at the center of our galaxy. I found this information very appealing
