Chaucer's Prologue Chaucer presents a very positive picture of the pilgrims in the ruling class. Chaucer only shows respect to one religious figure and looks down upon the other five. Chaucer includes good qualities in knights and squires that he describes.Qualities Chaucer includes in his Knights are honor, loyalty, respect, chivalry, generosity and courtesy. One page , Chaucer says "There was among us a brave Knight, who had loved chivalry, truth, and honor, generosity and courtesy from the time of his first horse back rides." Qualities in the squire were that of love, lust, strength, and happiness. Chaucer explains "All day he sang or played the flute; in fact, he was as joyful as the month of May", on page .

Chaucer's view of the clergy class is not as positive as his view of the ruling class. The only religious figure presently positively is the Parson. Page 11 reads "Rich in holy thoughts and works, he was a learned man, a cleric, who wished to preach Christ's gospel truly and teach parishioners devoutly. He was benign, wonderfully intelligent, extremely patient..." Chaucer's religious ideal is expressed through the parson. Chaucer described the Prioress as "Very much interested in etiquette. She was so kind and full of pity that she would week if she saw a dead or bleeding mouse." The monk loved hunting. He did not believe in learning, and spent more time hunting. The friar was described as "a licensed beggar, and a very gay man. He found husbands for many young women at his own expense. Well lived and intimate, and had more power than the parish priest, courteous and humbly helpful." The pardoner was amiable, "in his bag had a pillowcase which had served as a veil for our Lady; He has no beard, feigned with flattery and tricks…made monkeys of the parson and people" on page 15. The summoner was a friendly person. He controlled all young people of the diocese in his own way. He spoke only Latin, and knew philosophy well.In conclusion, Chaucer presents a very positive picture of the pilgrims in the ruling class, and Chaucer's religious ideal is expressed through the parson. The word "name" has many denotative meanings. One is a word by which a person, place, or thing is known. Another is a descriptive word or title. And then there's reputation, good or bad. Not only does the word "name" have many different meanings, but also names themselves have different meanings. I believe that a name is that person or thing and a description of the person's or thing's personality and being. There are many objects that everyone knows by the same name, such as a piece of paper. Everyone who speaks the English language knows it as paper. I've never seen anyone look at a sheet of paper and call it a marker or scissors. This is because we are taught since birth to call certain objects by certain names. Also as we grow, we learn about new objects and their names. By the time we mature, we expect everyone we communicate with to know these items by the same names as we know them. Of course, there are the effects of the slang and the lingo of the region or time that we must adapt to and/or learn. However, no matter what the circumstances or situation, a piece of paper will always be a piece of paper. Names are also a description of a person or thing. Native Americans practiced this ritual of naming people with a name that described them, such as Green Cloud, Running Wolf, and She Black of Heart. According to Louise Erdrich in her article "The Names of Women," these names were later transformed by the pilgrims into names such as Catherine and Marie. Even in today's society, people can tell a lot by a person's name. For example, the name Ernest is not very popular now and is what Erdrich would call a "bad name." She claims that just by hearing the name you can tell that Ernest is either a very strong, outspoken person or very shy. This is because we expect that with a "bad name," Ernest has to deal with ridicule all his life, which meant he had to either stand up for himself or try to ignore it. By standing up for himself, he would build himself into a strong, outspoken person; however, by attempting to ignore it, he would grow up to be weak and shy.

Write my essay on What is a name? for me

Names mean a lot of different things to different people, and our society and language forces us to depend on names. Names are what we know a person or item as or describes the person or object. Without names for people or objects, life wouldn't have any definition or identity and would basically be utterly confusing and dull. Please note that this sample paper on What is a name? is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. Thought and Action

The play "Hamlet" written by William Shakespeare is a revenge tragedy. The play illustrates how people have trouble balancing between thought and action. Throughout the play Hamlet illustrates this problem as do many other characters in the play.

"Observe my uncle. If his occulted guilt do not itself unkennel in one speech. It is a damned ghost that we have seen." (III ii 8) When Hamlet was told of his father's murder, he does nothing to pursue his death, because he is to busy thinking of how to get over it. Hamlet used the theory of the ghost being the devil so that he would not have to go through with the murder of his uncle, king Cladius. "A villain kills my father, and for that I, his sole son, do this same villain send to heaven." (III ii 76) Hamlet does this because he is scared of the consequences of taking action. Hamlet finds a way around taking action and decides to think over what he is planning to do.

When Hamlet finally decides to take action it is interfered by his thought process. "How now? A rat? Dead for ducat, dead!" (III iv 4) said Hamlet when he killed Polonius, whom he believed was his uncle, Cladius. When hamlet is drunken with vile thoughts of his uncle that are so cunning are drowned out by his emotions. After Hamlet killed Polonius he thought nothing of what he had done and doesn't see the consequences that await him. As Hamlet is on his way to England, he escapes his own death. Hamlet sends a letter to Cladius telling him that he is returning. In doing this Cladius and Laertes begin to think of was to take Hamlet's life.

Many other characters in the play also have the problem balancing between thought and action. In the beginning Cladius kills King Hamlet, who is also his brother by poisoning him. He then proceeded to marry Queen Gertrude, his brothers wife a month after King Hamlet's death. Cladius was to bust sleeping with people whom he shouldn't to realize that he was hurting Hamlet in the process. This leads to the downfall of Cladius. When Laertes hears of his father's murder and sees that Hamlet is responsible he kills Hamlet. Laertes does this to fast that he didn't stop to think if it was the right thing to do. Once he does realize it, it is too late and he blames his own faults on the king.

The characters in the play have no sense of thought and action. When there applied to a problem there is a good outcome, but individually thought and action works against their creator. The play illustrates this through the death of the major characters caused by their own actions.

The study of the human brain has been researched for thousands of years. As technologyprogressed it seemed only natural to try and replicate the thought process. A Neurophysiologist, Warren McCulloch, and a mathematician, Walter Pitts researched how neurons work in 14. They modeled a basic neuron by electrical circuits. This was considered the first step toward the simulation of the neural network. By definition, neural networks are relatively crude electronic models based on the neural structure of the brain. The questions that are being developed and answered are 1. How does the neurons/neural network work? . How are they being used? And more importantly, how efficient is the neural network? Theories concerning replicating the human brain formalized again in the 150's, when computers started becoming advanced. An engineer, Nathaniel Rochester from IBM research laboratories began the first effort to simulate a true neural network. Of course, with most first attempts, they fail. And that was the case with Rochester. But, as he continued in his research they became successful. In 15, Bernard Widrow and Marcian Hoff developed models called ADALINE and MADALINE. The names are acronyms for their use of Mulitple Adaptive LINear Elements. It's an adaptive filter that removes the echoes from phone lines. MADALINE was considered the first neural network to actually be the solution for a true problem. The neural network is still currently being used in some commercial businesses. Through the years, the success turned to fear and drew many concerns of the accountability of the machines thinking and resolving problems. Due to the excessive hype of uncertainty, much of the funding came to a halt. In 18, John Hopfield proposed to create valuable devices, by using neural networks. Since then several engineers and scientists have come from around the world to Neural Network conferences to discuss ideas, and engaged in targeting specific uses for the network. As progression took place engineers realized that the key to the neural networks lies in hardware development. Scientists came to the conclusion that in order to fully develop the networks the prototypes had to be removed from the labs for testing. Which required specialized chips. Companies began working on three types of neuro chips- digital, analog, and optical. Currently, the optical chip seems to be the most promising for the future.

Almost every country in the world has experienced immigration problems. They have experienced this because people migrate to their country from their homeland. They do this to improve their life style for their selves and their families. Also they want to give up their old ways of life for a better lifestyle. Even though they don't have a green card they still try to come to the United States to improve their life style.I believe that immigration is a growing threat to the United States. This is a growing threat to us because without immigration energy cost will be a lot lower I assume. Also immigration has cost the United States graduation percent to decrease. When we use to be the leading country in graduation percent. Immigrant children are more likely to be poor as a US citizen rather than staying in their homeland. Our country could do better jobs by helping those less fortunate get on their feet. But without the help of the government and the citizens this situation will keep making immigration a bad thing. In my perspective immigration has shaped the US. Immigration is helpful in the job industry because immigrants take jobs that nobody else wants. The reason why immigration should be allowed is because they have a lot of advantages if they come to the US. Immigrants are becoming a big part of the Doctrine area. Immigrants are also becoming the main people who want to be doctors. Also new jobs will be created thanks to immigrants. Migration makes the United States one of the few developed nations that is not stabilizing population growth. Population growth in the United States has increased due to immigration. Although immigration is bad is helps the United States.I feel that immigration is the cause of most the United States down falls. Thanks to immigration schools are becoming over populated. American taxpayers for the youth education for immigrations' are over $0 billion a year. Also foreign students are replacing undergraduates from American colleges. Without new jobs Americans will be left without work and immigrants will replace them. So decreasing immigration will give Americans a better chance to succeed I the United States.

College Essays on Alienation

Therefore almost every country in the world has experienced immigration. I feel that the United States should be stricter about who they let cross the border. Although it is already a struggle for immigrants to get into the United States I feel the Coast Guards and Border Patrol should more suspicious about who crosses into the place Americans call home. I thoroughly enjoyed the poetry reading "Billy Collins An Evening with the U.S. Poet Laureate" at UCSB. I had never been to a formal poetry reading and approached it with some reservations, especially since I was not very familiar with Collins' writing. However, I was pleasantly surprised. In fact, I my little sister went with me and enjoyed it so much that she has since purchased a book of Collins' poetry.

The appeal of Collins' poetry lies is the combination of accessibility and depth. My sister commented that she was surprised to so easily understand "poetry" (which I put in quotes because of the dramatic way she says it, emphasizing her preconceived notions of the wordy types of things her sister reads in school). In many of Collins' poems, I was casually following a sweet or quirky story line when suddenly hit by a profound truth. Each was enlightening, entertaining and took the listener to a new place. Collins wrote, "Poetry can and should be an important part of our daily lives. Poems can inspire and make us think about what it means to be a member of the human race. By just spending a few minutes reading a poem each day, new worlds can be revealed." New worlds are certainly revealed for the reader of Collins' poems worlds where the everyday meets the eternal.

One of the best examples of Collins' ability to turn a vivid story into a more vivid, crystalline truth is in his poem, "On Turning Ten". The majority of the poem follows a young boy's thoughts about each of his years (what he did at age one, two, and so forth). It is a great picture of the way a little boy might think back on his childhood. It ends, however, with this transcending thought

"It seems only yesterday I used to believe

there was nothing under my skin but light.

If you cut me I could shine.

But now when I fall upon the sidewalks of life,

I skin my knees. I bleed."

Many of Collins' poems have the similar affect of leaving the listener with something to think about.

The experience of hearing Collins read aloud enhanced the humorous quality of his poetry. The dry humor of the poetry was accentuated by Collins' dry voice and understated mannerisms. It was fantastically funny. Poems like "I Chop Some Parsley While Listening to Art Blakey's Version of 'Three Blind Mice'" are humorous in that they deal with seemingly random experiences. Much of Collins' writing seems born out of life's "little moments", moments that the average person would simply pass by.

Despite the humor in most of Collins' poetry, I frequently found myself moved to cry as well. With a lack of big words and long stories, Collins' was able to take my thoughts and emotions to many good places. His few words did more for me than a good movie.

Please note that this sample paper on Billy Collins is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. I can remember watching the television show, Leave it to Beaver, in the good old days. Watching Mr. Cleaver go off work, while Mrs. Cleaver stayed home and took care of the household chores, (i.e. cleaning, cooking, washing, and occasionally gardening). When Mr. Cleaver returned at the end of the workday, the entire family would sit down for the evening meal and have quality time together. Because of the rapid shift in the economy, todays families are affected financially. Both members are required to hold down part time, if not full time jobs in order to avoid unforeseen financial hardship. The family as a unit is finding very little or no quality time to spend together, due to both parents working. The economy has changed drastically in recent years. Wage increases are not keeping up with the economy; stocks plunder, and goods go up. With only one parent working in a two-parent household, they are finding it almost impossible to shoulder the full financial burden alone. This has put a heavy strain on the family, forcing them to dip into their savings in order to maintain a substantial household net. Finally outings are becoming a thing of the past, because only one parent is working and forced to put in a great deal of overtime. The point is; because of globalization, factories closing, and downsizing, this has put families into a financial pressure cooker. Businesses are trying to put family back into family by adopting some form of a relief program for both parents in a household that are working and by offering childcare facilities in the workplace. They also have family day and have cut back on the number of days of the workweek, by using the 4-40 program which means four days, forty hours. These are some of the ways that companies are trying to make more time for the family to spend together and not jeopardizing the company goal. In my opinion, there should be government regulations in the form of a cap, similiar to the one used in sports Ithe salary cap), on businesses that choose to close and move overseas. It should be in the form of an import, with a limit on items that they are allowed to ship back into the country, and higher taxes. This would make them think hard about packing up and leaving, while the American Family is in such a financial crisis.

Holland is a very interesting place it took a very long time for our group to realize just how much fun that we were having. The flight over here was very long, and most of us got jetlag. On the way over we ate lunch and dinner on the plane while watching the movie, "There's Something About Mary." We had to make a connecting flight in Paris. There was a layover but during that time we got something to eat at the airport. Concerned about time Ashley continually nagged us to hurry up so we wouldn't miss the flight. So we decided to pack up the rest of the food for the plane ride over to Amsterdam. Once we arrived over to our terminal for the flight to Amsterdam we learned that we were an hour ahead of schedule, but Ashley was calm and quiet so it made it all that much better. The flight arrived and we were on our way to Amsterdam. The plane ride over to Holland seemed much more bumpy because of heavy turbulence. We arrived in Holland later that day, and the weather was much like the states. It was a little cool, but yet comfortable. All of us were very much exhausted we couldn't wait to get in our cars and head for the hotel. Once we got our bags, we headed downstairs to pick up our car rentals. To our surprise, there were Mercedes Maybaches, a Ferrari F-50, and a brand new Land Rover Range Rover. Of course Avery took the Land rover and left it up to the others to fight over which car they wanted. Once we all got our cars we headed for our first hotel, The Inter Continental Amstel, located on the Amstel River. This was our first hotel that we stayed at and probably the most enjoyable. When we arrived we were immediately welcomed, and shown to our rooms. The rooms were exquisite. Our company really indulged us with four presidential suits. These rooms had a enormous master bedroom with a king size bed, a living room with overstuffed genuine goat leather furniture. The dinning room had a ten-person table made from the rarest wood from around the world. We all decided to get a good night sleep and start our journey in Holland tomorrow. When we woke up we were brought assorted fruits and breakfast Danishes to our rooms. After our morning snack we all meet up to go to the pool. This pool was magnificent it was surrounded by stone pillars and sculptures from all parts of the world. We all talked about what our first day would be like and we decided to embark on our first excursion; horse-back riding along the coast of southern Holland. This was so amazing, the way we got to ride along and see the ocean crash along the high cliffs. Around noon time we headed back to the hotel and decided to go and eat some lunch. Not too sure about were to eat for the best foreign food we tried a place that we were most used to.

Critical thinking is the process of actively listening and carefully questioning the facts, opinions, and views expressed by others. As a result, the critical thinker is able to come to an educated, defensible conclusion or decision. To make a decision is to take action on a problem or to arrive at a conclusion based on facts learned by, not given to, the critical thinker. A decision can also become a belief by discovering your own personal truths through careful consideration and thought. The authors Browne, Keeley, McCall, and Kaplan (001) of our e-text Critical Thinking Strategies in Decision Making describe critical thinking as the mastery of two learned skills. The first skill deals with the way we take information in, specifically the way we listen and read. The second skill is the art of asking penetrating questions that help identify fallacies and fuzzy logic. The authors define a decision as, "…your best and most reasonable answer, given the nature of the problem and the available information" (p.15).Critical thinking and decision-making go hand in hand. A decision made without critical thinking is essentially a random guess or an unsubstantiated opinion and is of little value to anyone. Critical thinking without arriving at a decision or an answer only results in migraine headaches.

Cheap essay writing services offer help on Critical Thinking and Decision Making

The benefits of becoming a skilled critical thinker are; an elevated sense of confidence and self worth, as well as the ability to lead within a community, organization or profession. Leaders have to be extremely gifted and well versed critical thinkers. The ability to think critically provides a strong foundation for ones beliefs and values and enables the thinker to more effectively communicate their ideas and opinions. As a technical consultant at MCI I am constantly challenged to uncover opportunities, overcome objections, and gain my clients acceptance of new ideas and products. While I am still an apprentice level critical thinker, I have to employ many of the strategies discussed in the text. Asking the right question is what separates the truly effective and successful consultants and sales people from the rest. There is one glaring difference with regard to critical thinking strategies and sales tactics and that is the intentions of most salespeople. From the perspective of the salesman, there is only one acceptable outcome or decision to be made by the client. The challenge isn't in uncovering and understanding their true needs, but to make the client see that whatever you are selling is the absolute best thing for their company. "A New Horizon" It was a bright summer day, when my mother reunion my sibling and I in the living room. "A big change in our lives will occur in a couple of months, " She said with a smile on her face. Looking at her face with that big smile, the first thing that went in trough my mind was something excited is about to happen. Mom, with her long black curly hair, sitting down with her legs crossed said " We are moving!" she said. "Where mama, where?" I said anxiously, "Which part of the city, mama?" I lived in Morelia Mexico, three hour away from Mexico City. It is a beautiful city. The average weather is from 65 to 75 degrees; it is always sunny and warm. All my friends lived near me; I walked to school with friends, school was two blocks from the house. It was very important for me to know to what part of the city we were moving to. "Where, mama, where?" I insisted. "A los Estados Unidos" she said, which mean to the United States. My brother, Seb, was so happy to hear that. He got up from the couch, started running, jumping, screaming with glory.

"Calm down, calm down" mom said, "You'll be attending to school there, and I'm sure you will like it".My sister, Yanni, with her big eyes fully opened, just stayed sitting down like if nothing had happen or said. I, of course, did not like the news, exclusive I was begging mom to stay were we were at. But I knew this day was going to arrive. My parents' married in Chicago. And most of my relatives live in the northeast part of the United States. After having my brother and lived eleven year in Madison Chicago, I figure they sometime would want to go back. and relive their happy moments.I was only ten years old, never been to a different country. I was scared of the big change. It was really hard for me the thought of moving to an unknown country with different customs, culture, and language. At this age, all I cared was the fact that I was going to leave all of my friends, my school activities, and my close relatives. The school I attended was huge, all the people in the school knew who I was. I had the happiest memories, playing soccer with my classmates, and friends. Soccer is my favorite sport. What would happen if I didn't make any friends? Or if I didn't like the school? These questions went in my mind constantly. I thought that if I was leaving the country, I was never going to come back. But I thought of this trip as an adventure."Mom, I'm not going anywhere!" I said angrily with tears in my eyes. Mom gave me a furious look. She never liked us to raise our voice at her.The day for departure arrived. It was a dark, cold morning. I was walking out of the house and can hardily see across the street, the fog had covered the city. The Wild-Goose Chase My Description and Opinions on Annie Dillards The Chase Dillard's essay tells the story of an event in her childhood during winter when she was seven. Before describing this she gives us a brief history of herself as a child. She used to play both football and baseball with the boys during the summer. These boys were slightly older than Dillard and she seems to have prided herself on being as rough and tough as any of them. When it was too cold for football and baseball and there was enough snow on the ground, she would play snowball fights with the boys instead. Since she describes herself as having a "boy's arm" (7) for throwing baseballs, I imagine she was also formidable with a snowball in hand. In the event she describes in the essay she was with a group of boys waiting to throw their snowballs at passing cars. Then when one heralded its approach by the sound of snow chains clanking on the pavement, they readied themselves to pelt it with snow as normal. But, when they let loose, the driver pulled over and ran toward them. Soon the group of children split off and ran in different directions and Dillard was left being chased by this man with another boy ahead of her. Though she expected this driver to give up after scaring the children into fleeing he carried on running them down. He chased them over and around ten blocks before he caught them and at that point had to wait awhile to catch his breath before he could even start to speak. Then, with his suit covered in snow, he proceeded simply to tell them off. For a seven-year-old this was a huge anticlimax after the excitement of a chase all that happened was a routine dressing down. I really like this essay. It's a very good description of the thoughts and feelings going through a child's mind. Which is an amazing feat considering the author wrote the essay many years after the fact. Though being chased by this man was frightening it obviously was also an exciting and exhilarating experience for her as well. She describes what happens as if it's a victory for her as a child, she got a kick out of being chased and all the man who chased her could do was scold a couple of little kids who aren't listening to him. Though at the same time she admired this man, a "sainted, skinny, furious redheaded man" that "would never give up" (100). She admired him for knowing "what I thought only children . . . knew" that you had to "fling yourself at what you're doing" () with the singlemindedness of a child.

Recent Development In Ego Psychology and Object Relations/Final Assignment on Heinz KohutIn order to thoroughly illustrate the main structural, developmental, psychopathological concepts, and treatment principles of Dr. Kohut's work, a patient case history will be presented. Using two of Dr. Kohut's major works, The Analysis Of The Self and The Restoration Of The Self, the writer will attempt to explain the major therapeutic concepts of narcissism, including the therapeutic activation of the omnipotent object and the therapeutic activation of the grandiose self. Dr. Kohut's therapeutic concepts will be discussed with the use of the patient's personal and family history, as reported by him during weekly counseling sessions with the writer. The patient, Nick, was referred to the clinic in May 18 by his family physician for personal problems. At the onset of treatment, Nick was thirty-one years old. He was quite well functioning and had never received psychiatric treatment. Nick was in good physical health; he reported that he did not have a history of mental illness in his family.Nick's referral form stated that he was experiencing mild depression and that he wished to speak to an "experienced therapist" in greater detail about his condition.

Kohut writes "The therapeutic activation of the omnipotent object (the idealized parent imago), which will be referred to as the idealizing transference, is the revival during psychoanalysis of one of the two aspects of an early phase of psychic development. It is the state in which, after being exposed to the disturbance of the psychological equilibrium of primary narcissism, the psyche saves a part of the lost experience of global narcissistic perfection by assigning to it an archaic rudimentary (transitional) self-object, the idealized parent imago. Since all bliss and power now reside in the idealized object, the child feels empty and powerless when he is separated from it and he attempts, therefore, to maintain a continuous union with it (Kohut, 171)."In regards to the excerpt mentioned above, and in Nick's particular case, "the idealizing transference" may have been activated on a number of different occasions. Nick's search for the idealized parent imago and his search for some form of narcissistic perfection was visible in his individual counseling sessions, especially when he felt or experienced separation from the writer. The separation Nick felt may have been invoked by his belief that the writer, as well as other people in his life, were unable to be empathic during moments when he felt empty and powerless. Nick's imbalance in his narcissistic equilibrium may have had its roots in his early childhood development, especially when considering his relationship with his mother. Nick described his mother as "depressed" and often tiredshe did not play with himshe was continually preoccupied and self-absorbed with Please note that this sample paper on ego is for your review only. Frederick DouglassThe effect of family valuesThe life of Frederick Douglass as a narrative is a unique and intriguing masterpiece. This narrative irradiates on a whole lot of divergent issues affecting the black family who where under the oppression of slavery. This is also about a man who was born in the cradle of oppression who never allows the mal-treatment of slavery break his spirited soul and his determination to be free.Family is a unit that literally passes on important values from one generation to another. These values may help to nurture, educate, or encourage disciplines in every member, and more importantly create an awareness of which an individual is, and what make him or her what he or she is. In the case of Frederick Douglass, he was born not unto a well-defined family that is characterized by the above points. This is supported by the fact that his mother was a slave, and his father, ironically, a slave master. Fortunately Frederick Douglass was taken care of by his grandmother when he was separated from his mother at birth. According to the narrative, black slave mothers are separated from their infants immediately when they give birth. Through this method, family values are decapitated thus creating a state of isolation wherein elements of family values are unquestionably absence. Frederick Douglass describes the splitting of the family to be one of the cruel consequences of slavery. Born into the spotlight of oppression, Frederick Douglass did not know what true family is; he knew he had a mother, but she was miles away from him. Douglass' knowledge of his father, who should have taught him how to grow up and be a responsible man, was an imagination. There were a lot of questions racing through the mind of young Douglass but the issue of family now, seems not to bother him much. The issue of family now, had no relative effect on Frederick more than his desire to survive the brutal treatment of slavery. We see this in his aging and as he went from one plantation to another, from one slave master to another and how he realize he at time almost considered his slave masters to be his families.Over the years Frederick Douglass have learn a great deal from his experiences and instead of family depositing a sense of values in him he learn from oppression and turn the negative effect of slavery into something positive. By learning how to fight the system of oppression using the only mean more effective, education. Please note that this sample paper on the birds and bees is for your review only. In A Midsummer Nights Dream, William Shakespeare pairs irony with comedy. Egeus, father of Hermia, goes to Thesius (ruler of Athens) to urge him to pass a law that would then force his daughter Hermia to marry Demetrius. Though Demetrius desired to marry Hermia, she wished to be with Lysander. This law Thesius would pass would force a female to marry whosoever her father chose. Upon learning of this, Hermia and Lysander decide to leave to elope in a neighboring town where they would no longer be subject to Athenian law. However, Hermia tells her friend Helena of her plans, and Helena, who was once seduced and abandoned by Demetrius, tells Demetrius hoping to win his affections. That night Hermia and Lysander flee into the woods, and Demetrius follows. Helena then follows Demetrius. Oberon and Titania, King and Queen of the Faeries, are arguing over a young Indian boy they have found. Shortly after their argument, Oberon orders Puck, a mischievous fairy, to fetch a certain flower that had been hit by Cupids arrow, which had been diverted en route to Queen Elizabeth. This flowers juices, when dripped into a persons eyes, cause the victim to fall in love with the first person they see after waking. Oberon orders Puck to drip the flowers juices into Titanias eyes in order to make her love Oberon when she wakes. After completing this task, Puck is told to drip the juices into Demetriuss eyes to make him fall for Helena. Wandering through the forest Puck finds Hermia and Lysander who had fallen asleep on the ground. Mistaking Lysander for Demetrius Puck drips the juices in Lysanders eyes. Moments after Puck leaves Helena stumbles upon Lysander and wakes him, fearing that he was hurt. Lysander instantly falls in love with Helena. Then Demetrius comes and he and Lysander are preparing to fight each other. Meanwhile, a group of men rehearsing a play in the woods when Puck sees them and turns Bottoms, the weavers, head into that of a donkeys. Unfortunately, Titania wakes to Bottom and falls for him rather than Oberon. Now that everything has gone so far of course Oberon has to fix Pucks mistakes. First, he instructs Puck to seperate Lysander and Demetrius, which he does using ventriloquism. After they are both lost, they fall asleep. Oberon applies the love potion to Demetrius and the anecdote to Lysander and Titania. Once Demetrius wakes and finds Helena he falls in love with her. Hermia and Lysander also enter, and both pairs, now united, return to Athens while Oberon, Puck, and Titania remain in the forest.
