AbstractThis case study takes place in a community hospital on a rainy Monday morning. The new executive assistant to the CEO, Chris Smith, has just started his job and is getting a brief synopsis of issues and problems that he has been asked to analyze and propose solutions to. After gathering all the information possible, looking at discrepancies, and talking with employees of the hospital, Chris determines that the problem is the general nature of the mission statement, and the desire of all stakeholders to keep the hospital solvent in their own way. The proposals needed to solve any problems must be ready in one week.Case Study Faith Community Hospital Chris Smith, as the executive assistant to the CEO at Faith Community Hospital, is given the charge to come up with a report for the first ever held staff meeting that will propose solutions to the negative publicity and the hospital funds that, according to the hospital accounting department, are going in the red. Chris found that the best way to solve problems is to identify them specifically. He went on a fact finding information search, checked out discrepancies, and also had conversations with the staff at the hospital. The main problem he discovered was the nature of the mission statement and a lack in staff training. His proposal included a re-write of the mission statement, new guidelines for all staff and specific, regular, training to inform all involved of the changes.

Essay help on Problem Identification

Our reading and classroom discussions have taught that getting all of the information possible is critical to identifying a problem. The CEO gave Chris some general ideas about what kinds of issues where coming up at the hospital, but nothing specific. When the information is all put together, mapped out so that it is all in front of you, the picture becomes a little clearer. Asking questions also helped Chris in determining the problem. Why is the most often asked question. "Why did the DNR directive get administered differently?". "Why do doctors treat some patients and not others just because of insurance issues?". Another action that Chris took was to do some comparing. In the past the costs were less per patient, but was the quality going down, or were there other reasons for the increase? Chris had to look at the information the accounting department gave them regarding fixed costs and compare them to the per patient number. He also used plans and forecasts to decide what the current trend would do to the hospital, which our classroom text explains is helpful in pinpointing a problem and finding solutions. The problem that Chris identified was the broad, general nature of the mission statement, multiple interpretations of it, and a lack of training for the entire staff at the hospital. The mission statement is a general, warm-fuzzy, religious statement and is being interpreted in many ways. The hospital is still a business and must still operate as such. The problem with the mission statement is because it so broad and open, there are many different interpretations of it. The second problem that Chris identified is the lack of training for staff members. The CEO admitted that the meeting where he would present his proposals would be the first of its kind during his administration. None of the staff seemed to be on the same page because they never had communication and training that helped them understand what the mission statement and their specific responsibilities entailed. To solve the problem of the mission statement, Chris proposed re-writing the missions statement so that the focus is on the health and well being of the people in the community and the service and commitment to excellence in the medical industry. This task would require the assistance of the Board of Directors, or a representative of that board to participate in some brainstorming sessions so that the statement would still reflect the values of the community and the founders of the hospital. To solve the problem of many interpretations of the mission statement, Chris proposed regular staff meetings and training sessions. The problem of individual interpretation comes from a lack of information. The specific meaning of the mission statement and every procedure in the hospital should be disseminated to every member of the staff - doctors, nurses and aides alike. This information should also shared with the community so they would be aware of the hospitals procedures as well as their caring staff and solid religious values. The changes Chris proposed were monumental but necessary if the hospital were to stay afloat. They had to be well planned out and implemented carefully and slowly. The solutions when fully in place would keep the staff members employed and the community happy. ReferencesUniversity of Phoenix. (Ed). As U. S. citizens we really don't realize what a great life we are living. We never have a problem with food, there are jobs out there for everyone, almost everyone household as a T.V and access to the Internet. There are public schools for everyone and anyone can go get a college degree. Big problems that occur in our life occur everyday are nothing to those that live in some of these third world countries. Probably about 0% of our country couldn't survive a year living the life of some of these third world countries. Egypt is a third world country that is filled with poverty. Although the poverty in Egypt is not as bad some other smaller third world countries it's still there. Egypt is taking many steps to improve its country and come out of povetry. Egypt under President Mohammed Hosni Mubarak holds about 70,71,45 people in its country. It's a very dry hot dessert area and plant and water life are very vacant. The country lives under periodic droughts, frequent earthquakes. Flash floods, landslides, and hot driving windstorms. These Natural hazards cause many problems for people who want to plant goods. They do have some water ways like the Nile river which runs right through the country. They plant a lot of agricultural products but a lot of the machinery and food they receive are all imports. The export is about $7.1 billion dollars a year and import about $164 billion. From this you can really see how much they really need products from other countries like the U.S and how poverty is a big factor in there lives. Another big problem with Egypt that they are looking to fix is the Education. There are schools and classes to help kids and adults read but there is just not enough. A lot of the country is not educated in reading or writing. Only about 51.4% of the total population can read and write. This is for ages from 15 and over, you can see that they need to improve on their education. They really need to get the younger kids reading, and need to get the females learning more not just working around the house. Only 8.8% of the females over 15 can read and write. The poverty in Egypt has really put a lot of hurt on there life expectancy. Female women have a life expectancy of 66.4 years and for males its about 61.6 years, that is just retirement for men and women living in the US. There are many steps towards improvement going on in Egypt right now. The United Nations Development program is doing a big part in improving Egypt. The biggest goal of The UNDP is to fight poverty and improve the quality of life for those living in Egypt. One of the biggest ways that the UNDP is fighting poverty is starting more jobs across the country. They hope this will help educate more people in the country and help with the supply and demand. They feel with more people working, it will help make the country more economically better. The UNDP has built up private sectors and promoted local development through its support to small and medium-scale enterprises. UNDP is helping to establish Integrated Business Support Centers in Egypt, which will provide small businesses with training, information, support services and technical assistance. This will in all help educate more and more people and will help spread the job opportunity everywhere, which will ultimately produce a better more educated economy.

The UNDP is not only helping with the job opportunity in Egypt but is also has projects to help the country be more technology developed. While the country has only about 1-% access to the Internet they are trying to develop programs that give free access to the Internet for all people. UNDP is working with the government to produce over 00 Technology Access Community Centres. This would allow free access to the Internet and have classes that would educate people on the computers and Internet. This would also help in job opportunities and help in developing building that work on fighting poverty. Today the main tool being used to support Information and Communications Technology -for-development is the ICT Trust Fund for Egypt, which has been established under the joint auspices of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt and the UNDP.Egypt faces many environmental challenges. Protecting the country's natural resources and regenerating those resources that have suffered degradation stand as important features of sustainable development and the campaign to help the poor. Promoting renewable energy technologies & efficient lighting systems and energy conservation techniques as well as Clean Development Mechanism activities, including the introduction of fuel cell buses and electric buses. Another steps is Protecting groundwater and international surface waters from pollution and demonstrating the use of low cost techniques for wastewater treatment through a pilot project in Lake Manzala. As you can see the UNDP is making big steps in helping Egypt come out of poverty. I feel that although Egypt doesn't have some of the bigger problems that the other third world countries have but its does have a lot of little ones. It seems that Egypt biggest problems are with the weather conditions and a lot of the education. Its great to have a program like the UNDP to help out Egypt anyway it can. UNDP is making great steps to help them out and is going above and beyond to get Egypt out of poverty. Egypt has come a long way from when it first got its Independence and there is nothing but progress ahead. Please note that this sample paper on Poverty in Egypt is for your review only. Evaluate the effectiveness of the legal system in responding to changing community values in terms of achieving justice for family members• History has shown, women being inferior, and submissive to men. They have relied on them for monetaryfinancial support and social status. There was no notion of the equality of sexes, and men held the dominant position in society. This was also the case in marriages, and consequently had various emotional, physical and mental affects on family members. • Over time, society's values and beliefs have changed. New morals and ethics have been adopted due to catalysts such as, new philosophies and phenomenal outbreaks which have changed the community's views. The legal system has therefore responded to these changing community values, in order to achieve justice for family members. • The concept of the equality of sexes has consequently changed the foundation of marriages and relationships, especially in relation to that of family members. Women are no longer seen as inferior, weak objects but rather, are able to stand on their own feet both financial and emotionally, and do not undergoes the burdens of post 1st century.

Cheap writing services for Legal studies : family law papers

• This creates a more equal balance in the relationship, and may leave a more stable and pleasant outlook for the family members. Due to the fact that more women are working, it generally takes away that financial burden placed on the shoulders of the husband which leads to disputes.• However this is not in correlation with figures, which show that the divorce rate has elevated to an all time high, in this century. Marriages are broken up due to insignificant reasons, which in the past would have been dealt with. This hence, shows the changing community values on marriage. Marriage is no longer an obligation for life, and can be broken at any time, due to various legislations and acts which have been put in place. • The instability in marriages has significant detrimental effects on the children, who have been conceived as a result of the marriage. Problems associated with custody, and various complications with the law, all leave the children in a position of insecurity and can have negative implications and side effects.• The media has acted as a major catalyst for these changes that have been brought about as a result of changing community values.• The concept of family has been further broadened with the NSW parliament passing the Property (relationships) Legislation Amendment Act 1 on 1 June. This Act amends the De Facto Relationships Act 184, extending the rights given to heterosexual couples to same sex couples and people in domestic relationships e.g. carers. The de facto relationships Act 184 has been renamed the property Relationship Act 184. The legislation amends a range of other Acts and influences the division of property on relationship breakdown, inheritance, decision-making in the event of death, compensation, stamp duty and amendments to superannuation law at the federal level. Such changes will certainly affect the way the law views the concept of a family. (put this in ur own words, its from the book!)• There has been a growing rate of single-parent families in Australia, due to the growing number of teenage girls who have been sexually irresponsible and have fallen pregnant. In actual statistical terms, single parent families' account for less than 0% of single parent families, the majority are formed by families affected by divorce, separation or because of the death of a partner. Access to the legal system and legal services for single parent families may be inadequate due to factors such as; isolation, both geographically and socially, perceived costs of legal services, ignorance of the law and legal services, and the fear of being labeled or accused. This lack of access to the legal services creates an ineffectiveness in the legal system, in achieving justice for family members.• However, the government provides financial assistance to single parent families, through the social security system, which is their source of financial existence. This is effective to some extent, however recently, governments have become increasingly less welfare oriented. Social security laws have become more severe and politicians, as well as the media have been targeting this group. Social security legislation and welfare agencies continue to be responsible for the well-being of people belonging to this family group. • Effective measures which have been taken to achieve justice for such family members are schemes such as the Child support scheme, which was introduced in July 18, which was introduced to enforce maintenance orders on those parents who did not have residence orders. Also, centrelink and the child support agency will help single parents gain child support payments if their ex-partners are failing to make payments.• The legal system has been effective to an extent and ineffective in other aspects in achieving justice for family members. Although there is the court systems, parliamentary groups, lobby groups (add more in if u can think of any) in which individuals can access, there are limits faced to general members in our community who have a lack of access to the legal system, and face difficulties due to resource efficiency. Please note that this sample paper on Legal studies : family law is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. Fake and Real The Difference In the Portrayal of Madness

A very controversial topic exists in regarding to Shakespeares Hamlet. Many of those that read Hamlet argue that Prince Hamlet was mad, his actions guided by his ill feelings and weak emotions. Had William Shakespeare been around to answer the question Was Hamlet mad, he would most likely answer that Hamlet, the product of his imagination and creativity, was portrayed in such light as to create this controversy on purpose. However, Hamlet is perfectly sane, guided indeed by his emotions and feelings, which are, in fact, very healthy. Hamlet was not crazy, and this can be shown by the real madness of the one that he loved, or, at least, seemed to--Ophelia, whose craziness, especially in her final hours is unmistakably obvious. The actual reason as to why the audience is easily convinced that Hamlet was sane while Ophelia was mad, is simple it is the brilliantly skillful way that Shakespeare portrays them that makes it clear, though not obvious, as to who is really the insane one. Hamlet, the young, strong, full of revenge prince is constantly talked about as insane. Most of the characters in the play Hamlet, except for Hamlets good friend Horatio and a few others believe that Hamlet has lost his marbles. Yet, there is no real evidence which convinces the audience of this--theres no facts, nothing other than the characters opinion of him. Hamlet commits certain acts which seem irrational and unexplainable to the antagonists in the play, however, to the audience, all of these acts are perfectly explainable and rational. This is because the audience knows the situation that Hamlet is in, having had his father murdered and his mother marrying the murderer of his father. The voiced opinions of the characters are what really clouds the audiences judgement. There are many instances of that. Polonius, for example, attributes Hamlets insanity to the disappointed love for Ophelia. His hypothesis, which he believes deeply and tries to convince the king and the queen of, is that Hamlet is insane without Ophelia. In fact, Polonius is the one who ordered his daughter to break off any relationship that she might have with Hamlet, believing that would drive Hamlet to frustration, anger, and eventually cause him to loose his wit. Poloniuss idea coincided well with the common at the time idea that frustrated love causes melancholy, which is, in itself, fairly close to madness. Shakespeare expresses this idea in many of his works, an example being the frustrated Romeo in Romeo and Juliet. Another instance where this occurs is when the king has a good reason to convince others of Hamlets insanity he suspects that Hamlet knows something about the murder of his father, and if Hamlet were to spread this around, people would believe him. However, if everyone was convinced of Hamlets madness, no one would believe him. This, the king expresses in his speech to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern in Act , Scene , lines 1 and I like him not, nor stands it safe with us…To let his madness range… . The only act in the play that Hamlet performs that can be called irrational is when he is in the queens chambers, having just killed Polonius. Alas, hes mad!, says the queen in Act , Scene 4, line 105, seeing Hamlet talking to something that isnt even there. However, Hamlets rational, sane acts by far outweigh the things that he has said and done that make him look as if hes crazy. There are some plots that he has devised that a madman would never be able to figure out. How would a madman that is planning to assassinate the king ever comprehend that if he kills the king while the king is praying, the king will go to heaven? How would a madman ever have the sense to wait for the right moment? Not only is Hamlet perfectly sane, but his insanity scheme is ingenious. Ophelia, on the other hand, performs certain acts which show the audience first hand that she is not in the right frame of mind. The audience is not told by any of the characters that Ophelia is mad. Shakespeare leaves it up to the audience to discover that her behavior is irrational. Thus, the audience is unmistakably convinced who is really missing a few screws. An example of Ophilias irrational behaviors is the scene with the queen. Here, theres more to Ophilias words and behavior than meets the eye. She thinks that she is delivering some kind of a message to the queen. Her speeches are long, making it seem like she is talking to the queen as one woman that has lost something special would to another. What she goes on to say, as the king enters, is of different subjects, hinting at different ideas, asking philosophical questions. She sings of flowers and of how cold her fathers grave is, giving an unmistakable impression that her sanity has followed her father into his grave. Ophelia was a pawn, nothing more, which was used by those that supposedly loved her for their own purposes. She was used by her father to drive Hamlet to madness, as he thought. Hamlet used her to convince Polonius and others that he was mad. Ophelia eventually looses both of these men, which is what drives her to insanity, possibly because the two biggest influences of her life have disappeared. This is how Shakespeare used madness to show the differences between Ophelia and Hamlet. He showed brilliantly and skillfully true insanity and faking. Hamlet had a very brilliant plot of avenging his father, which certainly worked, though, surely, Hamlet wasnt planning on so many deaths. The careful, skillful setup of the plot of this play truly expresses Shakespeares genius!

Individual perceptions and biasAccording to Encarta, a bias is a predisposition to address an issue or react to others in a certain way. It also means being persuaded to adhere to a certain belief. Bias and individual perceptions exist because relationships exist. A person should not be judged by his/her gender, age, race, and ethnicity. All these differences can impact the workplace environment and the organizational culture. Also according to Encarta, an individual perception is the process by which people select, organize, interpret, retrieve and respond to information from the world around them. Our personal experiences and how we were raised influence individual perceptions. Managing Gender Bias in the WorkplaceThe focus of this article is how a woman can cross the gender barrier. You have to believe in yourself and respect yourself and others in order to succeeded. This particular woman was about to start a job and a new position as a project manager for an aerospace company. The recruiter of the company warned her that it might be difficult for her new staff to adjust to a woman as a manager. She was decided to make it work, he had confidence in herself and a proactive approach on things. Her goal was to win the respect of others and stay focused. According to the article, there are six steps in order to find equality in the workplace q Be a situational leader q Win respect q Step out of your comfort zone q Let go of the need to be liked q Practice leadership and accountability q Learn to laugh Avoid Age Bias in the Workplace. The focus of this article is that age discrimination is a growing problem. According to Mrs. Alcorn, it is the fastest-growing category of complaints received by the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC). According to their statistics, 17,405 age discrimination claims were received last year. In order to avoid age discrimination in the workplace, one will have to be aware of certain signs q If younger people are chosen for training programs. q Even with good reviews, one keep getting passed up for promotions q You get moved from your work is. q Talks about retirement q You get fired or laid off. Employees over 40 years of age have a legal recourse. There is an Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 167, which makes it illegal to discriminate against an employee or jobseeker because of age. In order to avoid age bias, the article states that one should maintain a good relationship with supervisors in order to keep open the communication channels, and to keep up to date with the necessary skills to perform your job. Reports of Workplace Bias on rise since September 11.The focus of this article the reports of Muslims, Middle Eastern and Arab Employees of workplace discrimination are rising many months after the Sept. 11 attacks. In a study for Workforce Development, about 0% of people say Arab Americans are the employees most likely to be treated unfairly in the workplace even more than the number who said that women or Hispanic workers were most likely to be treated unfairly. In order to avoid this, officials are encouraging employees to prevent and to report discrimination. According to Mr. Armour, in order to battle workplace bias, companies need to distribute harassment policies, provide training and establish a system for handling conflicts. ConclusionConflicts can arise due to incorrect perceptions of others and us. In other to avoid this, we have to create positive work relationships, have confidence and respect each other. We have to learn more about the principles of human relations, use encouragement and show respect for the other person's opinion. We have to learn that inside qualities are more important than outside qualities. According to Art Williams in his book Pushing Up People, " There's no place for prejudice in a successful business". People should be judged by their performance and standard of excellence and not by their gender, race, age or ethnicity. The main goal of a corporation should be to build a company with the best people you can find regardless of their individual characteristics.References1. Levi Strauss history the man and the companyLevi Strauss was born in January 18 in Buttenheim, Bavaria. In 1847, he sailed to America, then became an American citizen in 185 and set up a small dry goods house, which grew itself into a prosperous business over the following twenty years. In 187, Levi Strauss and tailor/inventor Jacob Davis receivd the patent for riveting mens pants. They began making copper riveted waist overalls (the old name for jeans) in San Francisco. In 180, numbers were first assigned to the products that were being manufactured. The number 501® was used to designate the famous copper-riveted overalls. In 10, Levi Strauss died at the age of 7. His nephews inherited the business.Koveralls, a one-piece play suit for children invented in 11, became the first product sold nationally. In the 10s, the Depression stroke and the demand for products declined.During World War II, U.S. soldiers wore their Levis® pants and jackets overseas, giving the products their first international exposure. In 154, a zippered version of the waist overalls was introduced. In 15, LS&CO. began exporting garments to Europe. And in 165, Levi Strauss International and Levi Strauss Far East were established, beginning the companys real expansion into Europe and Asia. The early 180s difficulties and the reorientation of the firm.In 180, after years of aggressive US growth, Levi Strauss & Co. suffered a major market setback. As baby boomers grew up and the teenage population declined, the US jeans market peaked at 55 million pairs and started a steady four-year decline. The cost of its acquisitions in sportswear especially, combined with their subsequent poor performances, forced the company to shut down 18 factories and to lay off 1,000 workers in the United States in 18 and 184.To invert the trend, they decided to increase marketing emphasis and to advertise for the one product that is unique to Levi Strauss & Co, the 501 jean. As Levis former president Thomas Tusher says, the Levis 501 jean is today probably the best-known article of clothing in the world. The 185 European Launderette spot with the song Grapevine boosted sales of 501 jeans in Europe by 800 percent. The first Original Levis® Stores were opened in Europe in 18, and in the US in 11. Today, there are over 1,000 Levis-only stores worldwide, and more are being planned. Recent locations include stores in South Africa, India, Russia, and Indonesia. In 186, LS&CO. introduced the Dockers® Brand in the United States, and in Europe in 14.In 15, LS&CO. launched a home page on the World Wide Web at www.levi.com. Yet, the late 10s are the symbol of Levis new difficulties. Indeed, after a peak of $7.1 billion in 16, sales dropped to $6. billion in 17 and to $6 billion last year.Levi Strauss Americas, a division of Levi Strauss & Co., decided in february 1 to close 11 out of its manufacturing plants in North America and to lay off about 5,00 people, means 0 percent of its work force. Moreover, Levis decided to give up selling its products on the Internet after 1 Christmas. The company had until then sold clothes at two sites, www.levi.com and www.dockers.com. But in 1, they found out that they could not afford running a world-class e-commerce business. Consequently, Levis pants will now be purchased online at jcpenney.com and macy.com, which belong to Levis two largest retailers.Levis managed in the past to recover from critical situations so we can expect that they will this time anew recover and continue to provide the whole world with their famous slacks. Birds singing in the air, grass is beginning to regain its chlorophyll, lawn mowers echoing in the distance; these are the typical characteristics that are associated with the season of spring. It is also the beginning of spring training for major league players. In our household, there is an ultimatum; you're either a White Sox fan or a White Sox fan. Not much of a choice I thought; it even fits into the communist system of government, but over the years, I grew up to become a loyal fan of the good, old palehose. I could even remember my first exposure of America's pastime dating back to my infant years. Photos on my living room wall and in memorabilia books display a wide conglomeration of baby pictures in White Sox paraphernalia. Many relatives of mine say its is the cutest thing that they ever seen, but I think its pretty horrid. A baby wearing an oversized jersey of Minnie Minoso laying in a catcher's mit is the picture that my mother cherishes the most. She chooses to display that picture in the living room wall over my Little League champion picture. Instead of picturing my feats and accomplishments, she chooses to go with the "little Minnie" picture, as my family members would refer to it. Whenever I go past the picture, the thought conjures, why?I guess it's a mother thing. Mothers seem to have some type of telekinesis that can compute things such as false testimony or whenever trouble lurks. Most fathers play catch with their sons, go fishing at times, or maybe even teach some tricks of the trade that has been passed down from generation to generation. My father was not the typical father. I don't know if there is term to describe him. If there were a word to describe a person that is over fatherly, a picture of him would be next to that term. He would be there during my Little League games, dates with girls, anything that can be thought of. The worst thing was that he was my Little League coach. It may not sound as bad, but imagine having Bobby Knight as a coach and a father. The continuous pressure to be successful on the field and off the field was the only thing that my father preached during the season.

The game that is embedded in my memory is the game when I was six years old.My father told me that if I won the game, there would be a great surprise in the morning.Sure enough, I pitched a great game. Coming home later that evening, The thought of the "great surprise" culminated into my thoughts. I wonder what the surprise is, I thought for the whole night. Was it a new bike, a Nintendo that I coveted dearly, or was it just some kind of joke that my dad did to motivate me for the game? The anticipation was just so immense that evening that I could not sleep or drink. The next day came about when my dad woke me up at the crack of dawn. It was so early in the morning that I can see the paperboy delivering the papers on his bike. That was usually my measure of early. Being so weary from the night before, I lapsed from consciousness the "great surprise". I slowly rolled out of bed. As I walked out, I can hear my mother in the kitchen preparing breakfast. The sweet aroma of pancake mix, the sound of sausages frying in the pan made me hastily get ready for the day. Running down the stairs, I can see my father outside checking the car's oil. That usually detailed one thing, road trip. As I finished, my father told to hurry up and get ready. I thought, ready for what? Nonchalantly, I got into to the car and went with my father. On the way to my destination, my father tuned to a sports station. The pregame show was on. The announcers were Mac, Jerko, and Harry. Listening to their low tone, boring voices made me fall asleep. As I awoke to horns and to my father's stop and go driving, I can see in the distance, Comiskey Park. As my eyes got wider admiring the ballpark, I asked my father if that was our destination place. He told me, yes son; we're going to see the White Sox play today. As soon as I heard those words, I was ecstatic. It was like a kid in the toy store picking out a toy. Walking into this huge facility, I can see lots of advertisements, stands, morals of past White Sox players, and the best part, the batters were taking batting practice. I quickly ran towards the dugout hoping for an autograph. There were hoards of people crowding around with the same objective in mind. As I looked around for my father who was lagging behind, I noticed in the pressbox a sign with the insignia, WGN sports. Inside the box was Ken Harrelson. Watching him on TV was cool, but seeing him in person just blew my mind away. Focusing my attention on Ken Harrelson, kids around me started to act up. The thought came, why were they pushing? Sure enough, over in the distance, Robin Ventura was headed in my direction. I clenched for my ball and stuck it out hoping that he would notice. In desperation for an autograph, I looked up at my father like he would do something to get Robin Ventura's attention. As I was looking at my father, the ball slipped out of my hand. My first thought was darnit; I dropped the ball. As I looked on the ground for the ball, I noticed that Robin was signing a ball. In a blink of an eye, my goal was accomplished. As they would say in the military, mission accomplished. Please note that this sample paper on Reflective entry is for your review only. Margaret Atwood's "Pornography" Pornography, otherwise defined as vulgarity and obscenity, is an issue that has and will continue to call upon much debate. While there are many people who see pornography as degrading, sinful, and disgusting, there is also a large amount of people who see it as a turn on, a form of sexual expression, and entertainment. Webster's dictionary defined pornography as merely "the depiction of erotic behavior with pictures or writing intended to cause sexual excitement." Yet according to Margaret Atwood "pornography" meant women getting their nipples snipped off with garden shears, having meat hooks stuck into their vaginas, being disemboweled; little girls being raped; men being smashed to a pulp and forcibly sodomized. The cutting edge of pornography, as far as Atwood could see, was no longer simple old copulation, such as hanging from the chandelier or otherwise it was death, messy, explicit, and highly sadistic. However on the other hand, I disagree with Atwood's description of pornography. I view pornography as a pleasurable sexual experience for both partners. In no way do I associate it with having my nipples snipped off with garden shears. Atwood's point of view sounds more like cruel and unusual punishment to me rather than something that's supposed to be enjoyable. When I hear the word "pornography" automatically hardcore and soft porn come to mind, not having a meat hook shoved into my vagina. That is bodily harm, not a form of entertainment. I wouldn't even consider Atwood's interpretation of porn nearly close to hardcore porn. Her idea of porn is way beyond that in my opinion. Atwood's idea of porn to me is more like a form of abuse, in no way pleasurable. Hardcore porn is basically just rough, wild and enjoyable sex. Whereas Atwood's image of porn is inhumane to ones self being. No human being should have to be subjected to such means of abuse.

I believe that pornography in public should be banned. This includes stores that sell pornographic material. Instead, these magazines and other pornographic materials should be kept separately in a private room, where you must be an adult to enter and purchase such material. Pornographic material that is kept privately either to be sold or to be viewed or used in the privacy of one's own home, should not be banned. I see absolutely no reason why a person should not be allowed to view pornographic material in the privacy of their own home. Some people may argue with me and say that my principle should be invoked by the government. They may say that pornography increases the likelihood of harm. And I do somewhat agree to an extent. I am sure that some harm has occurred because of pornography. But harm has also occurred because of alcohol, patriotism, cigarettes, and religion. These things are not banned so neither should pornography. There is even proof that cigarettes are harmful and they are still not banned. There is no proof saying that pornography causes people to do things that they normally would not do. Pornography can be erotic, which is something that is designed to produce sexual arousal unlike Atwood's style of pornography which is designed to produce pain and burden upon oneself. Someone may argue that it is wrong to produce sexual arousal. But people are given the right of freedom of expression so we should all be entitled to do so. Porn in my opinion can also be a form of art. There are many famous artists and pictures that include naked bodies that could be considered pornography. If porn is abolished, then these great artworks should be destroyed. I know there are some people who would disagree with me and believe in legal morals which states that individual liberty is justifiably limited to prevent immoral behavior. This principle seems to force morals on all of us. Every person has his or her own morals. If this principle was to be passed by legislation, the rights of the people would be taken away because of morals of others that are different from their own morals. I understand many people feel that pornography exploits women, but as long as these women are not forced into participating in the pornographic material and it is of their own free will, there is no reason to completely limit pornography like some of you would like to do. Even if pornography is limited to some degree, the material is still going to be made, whether it is made legally or illegally. If pornography is banned, an entire new market would start up and the government would not have any regulation at all. I believe that pornography is socially beneficial. It provides pleasure without producing significant harm. Porn provides sex by proxy for lonely and deprived people. I personally feel it cuts down on criminal behavior by providing a release of tensions by substitute satisfactions. Porn also gives us a way to release our sexual desires that might otherwise be harmful to others if not released. As long as I am not forced to see pornography or not warned in advance, I have no problem with people watching or taking part in something they enjoy. It is similar to individual sexual preference. I don't have a single problem with homosexual lifestyles as long as I am not forced into anything. I honestly feel that pornography will never be abolished as long as it is regulated and not forced on people. We all just need to learn to respect one another and as long as we are able to do that then there should be absolutely no problem with pornography. Insight on the Kinetic and Potential Power Contained within Aristophanes' Lysistrata and Isa from Nobuo's The American School. The struggle, gain, loss, and expression of power have always been prevalent in literature throughout the ages. The many conflicts brought on by power can often be attributed to cultural influences present at the time. Lysistrata from Aristophanes' Lysistrata is quite similar to and yet quite different than Isa from Kojima Nobuo's The American School. They are similar in that they have a great power. Lysistrata's power being able to influence and persuade her peers and Isa's being the power of communication. However, where they are quite different is in the expression of their powers. Lysistrata is definitely the more charismatic of the two. She is able to use her great power of persuasion to convince her fellow women that by seizing the Acropolis and withholding the state treasury, they can coerce their husbands into finding a peaceful solution to the Peloponnesian War which was raging at the time. Lysistrata's argument was the state was being mismanaged by men and that the women, although they were seen as no more than "love affairs," and the keepers of the "bassinets," of their children could manage the state much more efficiently. A main part of her argument was that they had to sleep alone most of the time because their husbands were away at war. In addition to that, they were being robbed of their children; born to be pawns of war. Rallying her "troops," and seizing the most holy to Athenian temples, her power was displayed kinetically for the entire world to see. Kinetic power is power or energy that was dormant, or potential, and then released. Isa from The American School is a much different character living in a much different yet, similar time. Where Lysistrata's struggle to acknowledged as a formidable power was during the Peloponnesian War, Isa lived in post-World-War-Two Japan. Both characters lived in a time where war was going on, or vividly remembered. Isa differs from Lysistrata in that his power is potential, or stored power. Isa possesses a skill that is most valuable for a person living in American-occupied Japan. He has the power of communication, namely a proficiency for the English language. In the story, he chooses not to exercise his power, but keep it hidden. This is due to an experience he had with an African-American soldier. The soldier was assigned to drive Isa from village to village to act as a translator. This made Isa extremely uncomfortable, so he chose to speak very little to the soldier, two words, in fact. "Stop," and "go." Another time this trait is illustrated is when Isa gets to the American school and meets the attractive, young instructor. He chooses not to speak, but communicate by gestures. Sure, he can speak English well enough, but he feels awfully embarrassed. Even though his English proficiency lay dormant, his talent is exhibited by the ability to communicate with her without words, or at least, not too many words. Although, Isa isn't really a dominant character in The American School, he has much power that remains potential. Lysistrata is definitely the dominant character in Lysistrata. She exudes great power through her indomitable spirit. I think she could be described not really as a feminist, but more so a realist. She saw things as they were, a terrible lengthy war that was robbing the women of their men with no sensible end in sight. So, being a kinetic person, she gathered as many loyal women as she could, made a pact bound by and oath of loyalty, and took matters into her own hands. The culture of the time had to do with most of her angst toward the male sex as well as her living environment. The mismanagement of the state coupled with the absence of her husband was too much to bear, so, making her potential power kinetic she addressed the pertinent issues and rectified the domestic situation.

Essay service for your Insight on the Kinetic and Potential Power Contained within Aristophanes' Lysistrata and Isa from Nobuo's The American School. paper

Isa's power was gained before the American occupation of Japan. He attended university and excelled in the English language. After Japan and America went to war, English translators were much desired. So, the war-time culture didn't really influence his power, but rather molded how he explored and on rare occasions, actually used it. The lines between Lysistrata and Isa are clearly drawn. They are very different characters in very different time periods. But yet, they share a few things the ability to effectively communicate, as well as deal with and live during a war-torn time. The 70's was a decade with many changes that most people won't forget, this was a time when making a fashion statement had reached it's peak.

By the end of the 160's denim was well established in the youth market, this paved the way, and the 70's saw the golden age for denim.

During the early seventies fashions in hair styles, colours, materials, lines of clothes and footwear designs applied more to both men, women and children.

The term unisex had been used since the mid sixties and by 170; fashion was nearer to unisex than at any other time.

Adults and children often had the same hairstyle cut by the same hairdresser fashionably cut hair made a tremendous difference to many children.

Designs and shapes of contemporary garments were very suitable for children, and many styles were scaled down to children's sizes. Adults' clothes were beginning to influence childrens clothes in the 60's but jeans were not made available in small sizes until the 70's.

Conventional school uniforms or clothes were still worn in many schools, but fashion conscious children gave it an 'up to date' look.

Boys in grey flannel suits, white shirts and school ties had trendy long hair and boots with high wooden heels and platform soles under this trousers although not approved were often worn. Many girls got away with wearing a variety of very modern hair styles and like boys wherever possible clumped around in fashionably heavy shoes and boots.

For out of school hours the selection of childrens clothes was almost as great as the range of teenage and young adult fashions.

The childrens market was growing in importance. Parents were more willing to buy the fast changing styles in childrens clothes than in previous generations. Children were also very fashion conscious and had definite ideas of what they liked.

Trousers or bib fronted dungarees with flared hems in brightly coloured corduroy or blue denim, sometimes teamed with matching blouson jackets with zip fronts and pockets were also popular with children and teenagers.

More people and age groups now wore jeans. Blue denim jeans were the most universally worn garments of the century and the nearest men women and children have got to wearing uniform.

During the 40's teenagers in the states started to wear them for everyday life.

In the fifties they became popular in many more countries and in keeping with the fashionable curvy body fit of the time they were worn tight enough to show the shape of the bum and thighs. The popularity of jeans spread quickly in the sixties, children lived in jeans, they were practical and modern. Teenagers and young adults wore them as tight as possible to provocatively show off their figures.

By the seventies jeans had become a way of life and their were few people under 40 who didn't posses at least one pair.

Apart from school uniforms, children and teenagers habitually wore jeans. The antiestablishment and anti fashion wore them deliberately shabby with ragged fringed hems over scuffed gym shoes.

Jeans in better condition but not too new looking were worn with wide leather belts and over or tucked into western boots as part of the ever-popular style of the later 0th century urban cowboy.

Neat jeans with well known designer brand names were worn by a wider than ever age group of style conscious men and women.

Denim and the jean influence developed into other kinds of garments. Dungarees and boiler suits became popular alternatives, especially for women and children. Shorts with jean styling took on with children and young adults and denim type fabrics with jean stitching were used for swimwear.

In the 176 Colonge fashion fair devoted to childrens wear, it was noted that in the previous year 17.1million pairs of jeans had been sold in west Germany, a leader in young fashions to children under 15 yrs of age childrens denim shirts accounted for 70% of their clothes market while 0% of all girls skirts were made of denim, all of these being increases of previous scales.

Denim in the words of a writer on childrens fashions commenting on the phenomenon is now more a fashion… "it has practically become an extension of our skin. I can't remember anything else sweeping the whole world in the way denim has in the past decade, so there must be a reason for it."

And the reason of course is obvious. It is practical hard wearing, especially for children, looks good in most cases and is easy and comfortable to wear. It's a great leveller in the way usually claimed for school uniforms. It is fine for unisex clothes, which aren't a bad thing for young children. Children want comfort in what they wear.

Children have always and will always like to wear gear that they see on older kids. They desire to look like those they see on tv shows and in the movies.

Shows such as Charlies' angels were having an increasingly profound affect on children's fashion; every girl wanted to look like Farrah Fawcett often fighting crime in her two-piece denim attire

For most teens dressing to shock was the idea, and following the punk and glam movements brought to light by artists such as Bowie with his infamous alter ego 'ziggy stardust' designers took platform shoes and sequins to new heights.

Glitter and styling were applied to basic denim cuts, people were judged on the width of their flares, and personalising ones jeans became a huge trend. Levis Strauss even sponsored a 'Denim art contest' inviting customers to send in pictures of their decorated denim.

The 180's saw the start of designer children's wear.

The Islamic Empires during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries were flourishing. The time period marked the pinnacle of Islamic power and culture. Two of these major Islamic empires were the Safavids and the Ottomans. Both empires had great claims of land to their names, and both competed for dominance in the Islamic world. However, not long before the end of the time period, both empires experienced great declines in their cultural and monetary wealth. Over time both empires' governments weakened due to poor leadership and two-front wars. And the growth of diversity led towards inner empire struggle. All these factors contributed to the fall of the Safavid and Ottoman Empires. The Ottoman and Safavid Empires were some of the greatest empires of their time but lacked the proper organization needed for such powerful empires to survive.Great leaders such as Suleyman of the Ottomans and Shah Abbas I of the Safavids built up their empires up to great world powers. They did this by using their great intelligence and decision-making skills, but over time both the Safavid and Ottoman Empires weakened due to poor leadership and government organization. Corruption grew into society under the new weaker rulers. Under Selim II (Ottoman Emperor) Suleyman's strict policies on devshirme (an elite provincial slave levy) were slackened. After the slackening of the laws, parents of Muslim boys could buy their way into the devshirme and current members of the devshirme were now allowed to marry. This no longer created the total loyalty to the state and created a new corruption in the Empire's army and bureaucracy. The same leadership mistakes showed up in the Safavid's empire as well. Under the rule of Shah Abbas II, the Safavid empire became much more liberal. Shah Abbas II gave people more religious freedom and was more lenient with his subjects. No longer was there great loyalty towards the empire and ideas became more radical. A new corruption in the military and government began to show up with this new leniency, just as it had with the Ottomans. These newer and lesser leaders guided their empires' downhill and were directly responsible for their empires' downfall. Two-front wars weakened the resources and military needed to run such vast empires. The Ottomans were busy fighting the Hapsburgs in the west and the Safavids in the east. The Ottomans tried a second raid on Vienna to restore their empires to fame but failed horribly. They also experienced a slew of disastrous battle losses to the Hapsburgs and the Russians costing them the Crimea. At this time the Ottoman army was nearly exhausted and now the Europeans in the west and the Russians in the north boxed in their empire. At this point, The Ottomans no longer had the resources to take on their Shi'ite foes of the East. This slowed the empires' external trade which resulted in a lack of funding needed to run such an expensive empire. Similar two-front wars also contributed to the decline of the Safavid Empire. The Safavids were fighting the Ottomans in the west and the Uzbeks in the north. During the reign of Selim II much territory was lost to the Ottomans and Uzbeks. These wars devastated the Safavid army and these lands were not regained for decades. Without a strong army the Safavids struggled to keep their empire intact. Both empires were drained by two-front wars and were not able to fully recover, contributing to their downfalls. Both Empires experienced a growing population and diversity leading to inner-empire struggle and conflict. Such struggles also brought about major social changes Many Jews fled to the Ottoman Empire after being banned from Spain. The Jews brought many social and religious ideas with them that hurt the empire. Also many new Christians moved into the Empire. With Jews, Christians and Muslims all in one country much discrimination broke out along with strained relationships. Non-Muslims began controlling the wealth leading to their monopolization of foreign trade hurting the Muslims' resources. No longer was the Ottoman Empire unified and strong. Although it happened differently in the Safavid Empire many of the same consequences arose. A new wave of conservative Shi'ite ulamas took power. They emphasized their own authority over the ruler and persecuted religious minorities and Sunni Muslims. Again a group came to power but failed to unite a diversifying empire, leading to conflict. Uniting a diverse was necessary for both empires survival.

Essay service for your Fall of the Safavid and Ottoman Empires paper

The Ottoman and Safavid Empires lacked strong leaders and faced too many conflicts (internal and external) to survive the test of time. Due to the new poor leadership of the empires, the governments and militaries became corrupt and less organized. A series of two-front wars drained the resources and economies of the Ottomans and Safavids and a growing diversity led to less unified empires. These once great empires proved too shallow to stand the rigid test of succession and time. It only took a few mistakes over a relatively short period of time to destroy the once great, culturally rich and vast Ottoman and Safavid Empires. Women often play important dramatic roles in novels. In Zora Neale Hurston's novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, Janie Crawford, an attractive, confident, African-American woman is an unfortunate victim in two of her marriages. She is beaten by her husband until she packs up her things and leaves. Despite poor treatment, her character and integrity grow and develop. F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel The Great Gatsby takes place in the 10's, a time of rebellious behavior and living life according to the new found American Dream. In Gatsby's novel, the women are solely dependent on money. They strive for it and will go to great lengths to obtain it. When comparing both of these novels, the women are portrayed as greedy, defiant, and trying to find their inner selves. In The Great Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan, a beautiful woman, is very corrupt. She uses her daughter as a show toy. Whenever company comes to visit, she wants her little girl to put on an act for everyone. This is symbolic of Daisy's life She is kept in the closet until it's time to show off for company, then she becomes alive and personable. She views herself as sophisticated and smart, while really she is the opposite! Daisy says, I know. I've been everywhere and seen everything and done everything…Sophisticated God, I'm sophisticated (Fitzgerald, 8)!"Daisy's arrogance is shown in this quote. She seems to be so smart, but at the same time does not know her husband is having an affair with another woman. Daisy married her husband, Tom, solely for his money and social status. The women in both novels are also portrayed as extremely foolish and easily used by men. Myrtle and Daisy are both excellent examples. Daisy is foolish because she does not know about Tom's affair with Myrtle, and Tom is degrading Myrtle by his selfish actions. Both Daisy and Myrtle rely solely on money and fame. Daisy always tries to be the center of attention and Myrtle is obsessed with money. Daisy blurts out that she thinks a girl should be foolish when she talks about her daughter, "I'm glad it's a girl. And I hope she'll be a fool-that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool (Fitzgerald, 50)". Daisy uses her daughter as a play toy. She shows her off when her friends are around, but she actually never communicates with her. Daisy becomes very suspicious about Tom and Myrtle. To Tom, Myrtle is a game. He uses her for fun and never intends on having a long-lasting relationship with her. Tom does not treat her with respect, yet she continually returns to his side. Daisy lives in a fantasy world. She can never escape the utopia she sees in her mind. She wants more money, and that's what keeps her alive.

These themes also appear in Their Eyes Were Watching God. Janie has been married three times. Her first marriage does not work out because she finds herself doing more work than her husband. She leaves after being taken in both physically and mentally by Joe, who always seems to say the right things at the right time and is very romantic. She follows him right into a relationship of despair. Joe becomes the mayor of Eatonville and is in charge of the city. He opens a store and makes Janie work in it.When Joe gives a speech to the town, he comments how Janie is not supposed to talk in public "Thank yuh fuh yo' compliments, but mah wife don't know nothing 'bout no speech-makin'…Ah never married her for nothin' lak dat. She's uh woman and her place is in de home (Hurston, 8)".Joe, a.k.a. Jody, is very controlling of Janie. Fortunately for Janie, Jody dies. At the end of the novel, having learned from her past mistakes, she finally finds true love when she marries for a third time. She finds happiness after all the misery she went through with Joe. Women began to take a step forward in society during the time periods these novels take place in. Both Janie and Daisy are searching to find who they really are. Janie takes her lifetime experiences and internalizes them. She both fully lives and transcends herself into a complete person. Daisy is also frantically searching for herself. She grows by attaching herself to Gatsby. Gatsby in general is a better person than Tom and is not as corrupt. He is virtuous and very genuine. Despite this, both of the women have setbacks that make them have problems finding their inner karma. In Gatsby, Daisy and Jordan both drink and conduct themselves wildly at parties just as the men do. Nick, the narrator of Gatsby, comments about how the ladies love to drink, "A tray of cocktails floated at us through the twilight (Fitzgerald, 18)." Jordan loves to express her feelings and becomes very gossipy when she is under the influence. They express their views much more freely, and begin to use their new place in society. Janie has problems expressing herself due to her aggressive marriage with Sam. She has to be his shadow throughout their marriage. The American Dream influences the behavior of the women In The Great Gatsby and Their Eyes Were Watching God. The characters become too infatuated with the perfect life, and will do just about anything to meet the unachievable standards that the American Dream represents. Janie struggles through life being trapped by her future and what lies ahead. She is always used for her money and her beauty. Both Daisy and Jordan will live out their lives with the greed and corruption that drives them daily. The roles portrayed by these women give the reader a glimpse of what it was like to live during these harsh time periods. Please note that this sample paper on Great Gatsby is for your review only. In their sophomore to junior year teens start getting ready for one of the most exciting moments of their lives. This is getting prepared to receive their driver's license. Because the majority are 16 during this time they could start to take the different steps that will allow them to have their license. These steps are as follows First you should review the booklet that will prepare you for the written exam. The second step is to go to motor vehicle and take the exam. If you pass the test the same day the front clerk will provide you with a permit license. With this you will be capable of getting enough practice behind the wheel. Now that you have your permit the third step takes place, which is going to the 5-hour in class movie. This movie will teach you the hazards along with how a person should react in case of an emergency. The last step is that before and after confirming an appointment for the road test you should keep on practicing. The first step that should be take place is reviewing the booklet. When you see it you may think how am I going to learn all of this, but if you take it by parts it becomes easier. One of the most important parts to study are the chapters that describe the intersections and the signs, which you are supposed to distinguish such signs as a stop sign or a yield to right sign and what you should do when you see one. Another section of the book that will be helpful is the alcohol chapters where they discuss how DWI (driving while intoxicated) can affect your brain. Questions such as Which drink intoxicates you the fastest a can of beer, any kind of hard liquor such as whiskey, or a glass of wine? The answer to this is all of them could make you equally drunk because they all have the same amount of alcohol. These kinds of questions can appear in the test regarding this section of the book. When you feel confident enough you could go and take the written part of the test. It'll take you approximately 0 minutes to finish. Although each person is different, some may take less. The day you have this test try to relax don't stress yourself. I remember feeling nervous the day before the test but if you sleep well the night before and you have studied the book the concern shouldn't be much. Before you begin the clerks will call you up by order and take a picture of you. Next they will make sure you have good vision by making you read the black letters that appear in back of them. With this they will know if you need glasses to be able to drive especially during nighttime. As soon as you hand in the test the clerk informs you if you did well on it. If you have a motor vehicle the clerk gives you a temporary paper that will allow you to start driving accompanied with someone who is eighteen years or older who has a license. After you have sufficient practice, you are permitted during early hours to drive alone from school, the job or to your home.

The third step is to take the 5-hour movie class that consists of methods that will help you react to a situation while on the road. These could be such as while you're driving your car suddenly skids; the question is what should you do then? First you should never hit the brake because it will make it worse. Always maintain your hands on the wheel so if the car moves towards a dangerous place you can steer the wheel to the direction that you think is the safest. At the end of this film you will be asked to take a test that will demonstrate how well you understood the information given in the movie. If you do well on it you could go on to the last step. The final step is to practice and get used to how to stop correctly when getting close to a stop sign, which is to stop before the sign and look both directions making sure the road is clear. Parallel parking is used when parking between two cars. Always keep in mind to never hit the curb while your taking the road test. In many cases instructors will fail you. Another important part of the road test is the three-point turn used mostly to get off a dead end and back to a local street. One part that the instructor will check at all times while you're driving is that you look at the blind spot. To check your blind spot you should turn your head from left to right. Always put your direction signal on when making a three-point turn, leaving the curb or making a turn. When you feel ready to take the road test and you have had sufficient practice with all the above then at that moment you can call up for an appointment. At last the big day has come and you are feeling anxious and excited. You have waited and prepared yourself for over months. There's a line of cars and the gentleman at the road test site is making sure you're accompanied by an adult and checks that the car you're going to use is in good condition. You are next so the instructor goes into the car and gets all the paper work ready before asking you to leave the curb. He tells you where to turn and when to park or make the three point turn. Five minutes have past and the instructor tells you to head back to the site. At this point you want to know how you did so the instructor informs you that you have passed. The instructor also tells you that your license will be mailed within a month. At this moment you feel elated knowing you will be able to drive to school from now on. Please note that this sample paper on YOUNG DRIVERS is for your review only. I dont think any one film is ever going to change anything. I dont think any one newspaper article ever changes anything. But over a period of years, the drip, drip, drip of a lot of gook movies, a lot of good articles...all this is very, very, very important. The effect of that drip, drip, drip the daily diet of views and ideas that adhere to and promote what is best in society, that has an effect. Not one movie, not one article, not one building, but just that fact that all of us buckle down and try to do better and beter. The movie Schindlers List is a movie that is used to make people really think about what is right and what is wrong, specifically the Nazi treatement of the Jews. Throughout Schindlers List power scenes and images are used to capture how atrosic the treatment of the Jews really was. The movie helps people to get a view back in history and decide how they truly feel on the subject. It is Steven Speilburgs affective plot, content, imagery and film making skills that makes Schindlers List a movie that adds to constant drip, drip, drip of a viewpoint. The plot of the movie is very affective in displaying the severe treatment that the Jews experienced from the Nazis. The movie begins with Oskar Schindler getting on the good side of Nazi officers so that he will be able to obtain Jews to work for him without a problem. After Schindler obtains the Jews to work for him the movie really begins to focus on the horrible treatment towards the Jews. A scene that really stands out and shows a moment of realization for Schindler is when the Jews are stripped from their homes in the ghettos. This is a point in the movie where for the first time Schindler begins to see the hardships that the Jewish people have to face. The movie continues on to show many of the experiences of the Jews. After the Jews were stripped from their homes in the ghetto they were moved to the concentration camp where Ghert had control of the Jews. Spielberg is able to use Ghert to show the extreme hatred that some of the Nazis had toward Jews. With Gherts numerous random killings, Spielberg makes it evident that the Jews were being exterminated by the Nazis. The terrible treatement and the killing of the Jews really helps to build the plot of this movie.

Cheap college papers on Schindler's List 1005 words

Schindler witnesses this horrible treatment and the random killing of the Jews. This lets us the viewer get an idea of why Schindler decides to help the Jews. In the last past of the movie it focuses on Schindler trying to save Jewish lives by buying Jews to work in a factory where he is able to manipulate the Nazi soldiers to not treat the Jews poorly. For the viewer to see that Schindler begins to gain sypothy for the Jews after he witnesses their treatment is essential to the plot because this helps them to see it from a perspective of Schindler and helps them to understand his feelings, more importantly what kind of person that Schindler is. The viewer gets a much better perspective on why Schindler risks his live and spends all of his money in order to save the Jews. The use of plot by Spielberg plays an affective role throughout the movie. Another element that can be seen throughout the movie is the use of imagery. Spielberg does a great job on showing what was happening to the Jews. The viewer can feel as if they were in the movie where terrible things were happening. Effective imagery is used when a few of the Jews were shot in the head by Nazi soldiers. The people being shot had obviously done nothing wrong. For instance, the woman who told Ghert that the fondation needed to be repoured. She was just doing her job and she was shot in the head. After she falls to the ground you can see the blood flowing out of her head onto the ground. This imagery is used multiple times throughout the movie when other Jews are shot in the head. Imagery was continued to be used in the movie when the Jewish corpsases were being disposed of. This is seen a number of times throughout the movie. One time is when Schindler gets out of jail and ashes are coming down from the sky. The ashes were from the thousands of Jewish bodies were being burned in the incinerary. Jewish corpsases were also burried by the hundreds and there were also open burning pits where Jewish bodies were being dropped into the fire by convayor belts. The burning of the bodies was definately an effective use of imagery. The little girl that had the red jacket was the only color used in this film and she was a source of imagery. The girl stood out from all of the other Jewish people when they were being taken from their homes in the ghettos. She wondered around innocently, not really paying attention to what was going on around her. She was afraid of what was happening so she made her way unnoticed into an apartment where she was able to hide underneath a bed. This little girl was used as imagery to symbolize innosence. The red jacket she wore made her stand out so the viewer was really able to notice her. The fact that the girl was so young and so afraid is what symbolized her true innocense. This was another way Spielberg used imagery in the movie. Schindlers List is a movie that has a great impact on the viewers that see it. They are able to see the bad experiences that the Jewish community had to face with the Nazis. Schindlers List is an example of one of those movies that does not change peoples views, but with the drip, drip, drip of movies like this will truly begin to change peoples views. Please note that this sample paper on Schindler's List 1005 words is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on Schindler's List 1005 words, we are here to assist you. Your

The statement "The structure and content of feature article reflect and reinforce the attitudes and values of their target audience" is not always true. Some feature articles challenge the attitudes and values of their target audience by presenting biased facts and opinions to make the reader view a controversial topic or issue from a different perspective. On the other hand many others support this statement and endorse the attitudes and values of their target audience, such as "Fur Flies Again" by Tamsin Blanchard. "Fur flies again" was featured in The Weekend Australian Magazine. It is based on the return of fur in the fashion industry and the lack of opposition from animal welfare groups and the general public. The author Tamsin Blanchard has only included one point of view in the article. "Not since the '50s, when movie stars didn't know any better, have so many pop culture figures worn so much fur and with little reaction or comment" sums up the entire attitude of the article. TA The target audience of The Weekend Australian Magazine is men and women from the middle to the upper class therefore the target audience for "Fur flies again" is women of middle to upper class status who are 5 years and older. Since the 50's, wearing fur was thought to be immoral because of the fact that innocent animals were tortured and killed in horrible and cruel ways. While reading this article these women would be thinking "Thank goodness I'm not as vain or as selfish as these people who wear fur with no feeling of guilt". The target audience has been brought up around the same time as these celebrities who are wearing fur, but they do not have the need or the money to spare to buy fur clothing. As they are not as wealthy as this small group of influential celebrities they haven't been blinded by money and power, and still have morals and a sense of what is right and wrong. The article starts off by listing some of the celebrities who wear fur and that animal skins are the new celebrity security blanket. It goes on to say that the people who wore fur in the '50s didn't know of the suffering and torture that the animals went through, but this generation does. They have no excuse and cannot justify their wearing of fur with their ignorance. Tamsin Blanchard says how fur has slowly made a comeback over the past couple of years in tasteless fashion shows and she suggests that the people don't care about protecting animals against exploitation, as more and more fashion magazines are supporting fur and pushing it to become 'cool'. There is one quote from a celebrity fashion designer who is not in favor of fur in fashion. Stella McCartney said "My morals before money" and "there is nothing sexy about having an electrode put up your bottom", she sent a secretly filmed video of the pain and suffering encountered by animals which are killed for their fur. It suggests that some fashion designers use fur just to make money and they don't care that an animal has died because of them. This small part of the article dedicated to Stella McCartney's opposition to fur usage symbolises the small number of people who are taking action against the growing fur industry and many of the readers would agree with what she has to say. But at the end of the article it says that change is the oxygen of fashion and it doesn't matter where you stand on the issue of fur usage in fashion, it is definitely making a comeback. This comment urges the reader to take action or more innocent animals will be tortured and murdered just so they can be mismatched with a horrid outfit or made into a tasteless coat or stole.

Write my paper on Feature Article Analysis for me

The quotes (from Katie Grand, the editor of a British fashion magazine 'Pop'; Stella McCartney, fashion designer; and Tom Teifel-Kristensen, director of communications for Saga Furs) are used to support the authors view. Katie Grand says that wearing mink isn't a problem, we experiment on rats and other animals so there should be no problem wearing fur and Tom Teifel-Kristensen says that wearing fur is more widely accepted by younger people as it is seen as rebellion. These quotes maintain the idea that people are becoming comfortable with animal cruelty. "Fur Flies Again" lacks statistical evidence therefore graphics are used to create interest and validate and endorse the views of the author. Most of the pictures are of runway fur-fashion and to the average person, the fashion on the catwalk is bizarre and they wouldn't ever consider wearing most of it therefore these pictures make the reader think "why would people want to wear fur? It is so unattractive". The two most effective pictures are the ones on Jennifer Lopez and the US Vogue editor Anna Wintour. The picture of Jennifer Lopez has her in London wearing a fur hat and a coat with diamonds on the buckles which shows her as being selfish, spending too much money on her self rather that being compassionate and looking after others. The picture of Anna Wintour shows that even someone who works for one of the most popular fashion magazines has no fashion sense at all."Fur Flies Again" by Tamsin Blanchard is a great example of a feature article which supports the attitudes and values of its target audience. The overall message of the article is that the people of the world are losing their morals and have no compassion or respect for each other and the environment. Humans are too greedy and the 'morals before money' comment is a wake up call to the wealthy people who appear to have lost their morals and values and a call to action for the people who are against cruelty to animals. Animals aren't fashion accessories! Please note that this sample paper on Feature Article Analysis is for your review only.
