Carl Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist and brief colleague of Sigmund Freud who parted ways over a personal dispute over the unconscious mind. Jung was a rarely understood independent thinker who rejected Freud's deduction that the primary motivation behind behavior was sexual urges such as that all women have penis envy. Jung instead believed that people are motivated by a psychological energy that inspires people to achieve psychological growth, self-realization and harmony. I honestly agree with Jung more than I do Freud. To me Freud was a megalomaniac who saw women as inferior beings. All I have to say to that, women are capable of having several orgasms for every one their male partner has, given that he's considerate. Freud experimented in drugs and homosexuality and I assume that his obsession with behavior being driven with sexual energies was probably fueled by his erectile disfunction and/or him being trapped in that 4-5 boy mind set where, according to Freud, boys reject their father for their mother but for Frued it was most likely in a sexual manner.

The collective unconscious (universally innate knowledge) is a part of the psyche is inherited and not acquired through life experience. Jung presented this universal knowledge in the form of motifs, which he referred to as archetypes. We often encounter these archetypes in dreams i.e. the shadow is the natural self untarnished by society and anima and animus the male/female counterpart of ourselves which represent our ideal mate. I remember being 1 years old and waking from a dream where I found a person who was the perfect complement to myself and even…well cried a little after waking for fear of never finding that someone in reality. We encounter these archetypes in dreams hence the reason why many cultures that have had little contact with one another share certain similarities in their myths and legends. Examples of this are evident in many pagan religions such as the God of war, a symbol military dominance the Vikings Thor, the Romans Mars, and the Greeks Aries. Some Native American tribes believe that dreams are the conscious mind trying to solve what the subconscious mind can't, which I believe the answers come to you in the forms of Jung's archetypes. Imagine a yin yang, on one side you have your personal conscious which is knowledge acquired through ones life span which distinguishes you as an individual and on the other side you have collective nature identical to all individuals. The uniting or integration of the conscious (thinking) and Unconscious (instinctual) creates the bases for Jungian Psychology. These two forces are in constant conflict. The beliefs that every person starts out as a canvas ready to be molded and shaped by the world and that everything has an explanation has created this conflict. An example is the destruction of the pagan religions with the expansion of Christianity, which is symbolized in the story of David and Goliath and are apparent historically ages of enlightenment (science/mathematical) and renaissance's (art/history).

"Every advance in culture is, psychologically, an extension of consciousness, a coming to consciousness that cant take place only through discrimination" (Carl Jung). Robertson, Robin. The Beginners Guide to Jungian Psychology Please note that this sample paper on Carl Jung is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. Charlie WunderlichFrom decade to decade, there has been a new type of fad to sweep the country. In the 50's it was dancing and having fun. In the 60's it was to dress freely and avoid the draft. The 70's were full of pot smoking has-beens, the 80's, big hair and radical clothing. From the smallest of fads, the children in the 0's have taken a whole new approach to the game. They changed the rules that would affect the country for the rest of their existence. The fad? It is to act out in violence in school against each other, not just fist to fist physical controversy but from one boy's father's gun to another. The new fad is to take a school by a surprise attack and make news headlines. It is quite a change from the early 50's. So the question that boggles every American's mind, is why and how we allowed these children to invade and inhabit our lives and allow them to take the control they have at this point? The question can only be answered by figuring out the exact problem to a "T". We need to figure out every aspect of what they are doing. What are the exact statistics on the teen crime rate? How can we stop it? Let's start by recognizing the problem and deal with it from there. Here is the first step. Here are some solutions to the high rising problem. It is now up to the public to take action. Three-quarters or more of all schools reported having zero tolerance policies for various student offenses. Zero tolerance policy was defined as a school or district policy that mandates predetermined consequences or punishments for specific offenses. About 0 percent of schools reported zero tolerance policies for firearms (4 percent) and weapons other than firearms. 58 percent had policies of zero tolerance for alcohol and drugs, respectively. Seventy-nine percent had a zero tolerance policy for violence and 7 percent had a zero tolerance policy for tobacco. Tobacco seems to be a rising problem on its own, and we, as citizens, teachers and peers, need to do more to let the children know that this behavior is unacceptable, that they are, in fact, still children.

Public school principals were presented with a list of crimes and asked to report the number of incidents of each type of crime that had occurred at their schools during the 16-7 school years. The crimes about which schools were asked were murder, suicide, rape for other type of sexual battery, physical attack or fight with a weapon, robbery, physical attack or fight without a weapon, theft or larceny, and vandalism. Respondents were provided with definitions for each of these types of crime. Under the assumption that crimes or offenses reported to police would be more accurately recalled, schools were asked to report only those incidents for which the police or other law enforcement representatives had been contacted. Only crimes occurring at the school, including those that took place in school buildings, on school grounds, on school buses, and at school-sponsored events or activities, but not officially on school grounds, were to be reported along with about 115,000 thefts and 8,000 incidents of vandalism. When are we going to do something about this? Do you not think that it is time that we start making an effort to make the schools safer for the kids that attend them? Or should we just forget that the children of America are people with rights too?

a tool for measurement and improvement;externally a means for communication andcontract between customer and supplier.Unfortunately, the massive effort required forregistration, the test at the end, and publicityabout ISO 000 as a requirement for competing incertain markets, often looms so large thatorganizations lose sight of the link betweenISO 000 and total quality. When that happens, the effort for registration becomes simply abureaucratic exercise, a paper chase. Minimumeffort is expended; the letter of the standard isfollowed, not its spirit. As a result, few qualityimprovements are obtained and the true purposeof the standard and its benefits lost. There are however powerful synergies betweena good quality process and the work required forISO 000 registration. By carefully planning forISO 000, an organization can gain from thosesynergies and use ISO 000 to advance its qualitywork. Then the registered quality system cancarry on and drive the total quality managementprocess.Richmond, Virginia, USA-based EthylCorporation produces a range of chemicalintermediates such as petroleum additives, flameretardants, and ibuprofen. It has sevenmanufacturing locations in North America andtwo in Europe, and offices throughout NorthAmerica, Europe, and the Far East, includingSingapore and Japan. About 50 per cent of salesare outside the USA. Ethyl has had an activequality improvement process since 185. Startingwith statistical process control in manufacturing,it grew to include improvement of officefunctions and business processes.Early in 18, Ethyl realized the emergingimportance of the ISO 000 series of qualitystandards (referred to throughout as ISO 000). Apilot project was begun, and our first registration,at the Feluy, Belgium, manufacturing plant, wasachieved in mid-10. Since then, registration hasbeen gained for all manufacturing locations, logistics, purchasing, engineering and our R&Dlaboratory and sales office in Bracknell, UK.Several divisions have been working towardsregistration. The First Synergy Managing ProcessesISO 000 and total quality both insist that weview an organization's work as accomplishedthrough a network of processes. With this inmind, what do we mean by "quality product"?What does the customer pay for? Usually, wethink of a physical item. In our industry, perhaps abarrel of chemical. But quality is "conformance to customerrequirements" or "fitness for use". We mustdefine "quality product" more broadly. The barrelincludes not only the chemical but also on-timedelivery, correct packaging, correct documents, and much more. The finest chemical if late, inthe wrong container or without documents isuseless. Therefore "quality product" includes thequality of packaging, transportation, documentation, invoicing, and much more. Theseservices are provided through that network ofprocesses, which must be managed in order toassure quality. They must be defined, analysed, improved where necessary, and maintained. BothISO 000 and TQM begin with this concept. Howcan we take advantage of that link? The answer isfound in what we do to achieve ISO registration. At Ethyl, our process for implementing ISO 000has four phases Please note that this sample paper on oh the joy! is for your review only. There are many benefits to breastfeeding a baby rather than using formula. Human breast milk contains all the nutrients babies need each day, plus many substances that help keep themhealthy and promote development. Formula can be a messy inconvenience to many new

Online essay help on A HEALTHIER START IN LIFE

mothers already struggling with overwhelming new demands and schedules.Breast milk provides all the nutrition a baby needs. It contains antibodies that helpprotect the infant from infections. Through your breast milk, a baby is protected from illnessesto which the mother is immune and also those to which she has been exposed to. Breast milk also helps infants establish bacteria in their intestines that aid in digestion. Formula can also supply all of an infants nutritional needs. However, it does not contain the antibodies or growth factors found in breast milk. Many nutrients are more easily absorbed from breast milk than from formula; for example, iron-fortified formula contains more iron than breast milk does, but babies bodies absorb more of the iron in breast milk. Breast milk is easier to digest, so breast-fed babies are rarely constipated. Because they swallow less air when feeding, breast-fed babies may spit up less and have less gas and abdominal cramping than bottle-fed babies. Breastfeeding has been shown to be protective against many illnesses such as painful ear infections, upper and lower respiratory ailments, allergies, intestinal disorders, suddeninfant death syndrome and even meningitis. It has even been proven that babies fed breast milk have a lower risk of food allergies. Babies who are breast-fed may be less likely to beoverweight during childhood. Children fed formula tend to suffer more ear infections, and their illnesses tend to be more frequent and severe. The convenience of breastfeeding has no comparison. There are no bottles to sterilize and no formula to buy, measure and mix. No one has to stumble to the refrigerator for a bottle and warm it while the baby cries. If shes lying down, a mother can even doze while she nurses.Breast milk is always stored properly and a mother's body produces milk on supply and demand. A mother's breast milk is made to order to her baby. Overall, breast milk provides every vitamin and nutrient that a new infant needs. It provides nutrition, health benefits and convenience to a new mother and her infant. Breastfed babies benefit from appropriate jaw, teeth and speech development. This means that babies who are formula fed may experience more trips to doctors and dentists. Research shows that a child's immune system is not fully matured for many years. While it is developing, the infant will be protected by being breastfed. Does this mean that breastfed babies never get sick? No, they can and do. However, there is overwhelming evidence that breastfed babies generally suffer less severe and less lengthy illnesses than a baby not receiving his own mother's milk. In 1170 Hollands physical shape was altered by flooding, a devastation that helped to form the Zuider Zee (now the IJsselmeer). William II, count of Holland from 14 to 156, promoted land reclamation, pressed for the maintenance of waterways and dikes, and encouraged municipal development by granting trading privileges to the growing towns of the county.During the succeeding rule of the house of Avesnes, economic prosperity was promoted by extensive land reclamationThe Netherlands, as its name suggests, is a low-lying country. About half of the countrys landmass lies below sea level. This amount would increase should the polar ice caps melt and slowly raise the level of the sea due to global warming. Much of the western part, situated below sea level, is covered with clay and peat soils interspersed with canals, rivers, and arms of the sea. Farther to the east the land lies slightly above sea level and is flat to gently rolling.Empoldering refers to the creation of polders. A polder is a piece of land in a low lying area reclaimed from a body of water by building dikes and by drainage.Empoldering can be carried out in coastal and inland areas such as lakes.Polders are enclosed by dikes to keep out the sea.To prevent the polders from being waterlogged, they are managed by drainage canals and pumps.Dikes protect the polder from erosion.Drainage canals carry away excess water from the polders.lowest lying polders, droogmakerijen, low constant water levels are maintained because of the intensive agricultural use, which is possible because these polders have a clay soil. higher lying polders, veenweides or peat pastures, relatively high constant water levels are maintained. Otherwise, the peat oxidises and the land surface subsides even more. Peat pastures are used for extensive agriculture. They were then used for housing, agriculture and recreational purposes. Then, storms and floods in 116 provided the impetus for the Dutch to start a major project to reclaim the Zuider Zee. From 17 to 1, a 0.5 km long dyke called Afsluitdijk (the Barrier Dyke) was built; turning the Zuider Zee into the IJsselmeer, a freshwater lake. The Zuider Zee could not accommodate the bigger sailing ships that had been just developed. With the Zuider Zee reclamation project, the area had many uses.Portions of the lake were enclosed by dikes and drained to form polders. The Ijssel Lake now serves as a freshwater reservoir, supplying water for the irrigation. Further protective dykes and works were built, reclaiming the land of the IJsselmeer. The new land led to the creation of a the new province of Flevoland. The Zuider Zee Project was so successful that empoldering is now used in many parts of the world to control floods or to increase land supply.Today, approximately 7 percent of the Netherlands is actually below sea level. This area is home to over 60 percent of the countrys population of 15.8 million people. The Netherlands, which is approximately the size of the U.S. states Connecticut and Massachusetts combined, has an approximate average elevation of 11 meters (6 feet). The Netherlands ties Lemmefjord, Denmark for claim to the lowest point in Western Europe - Prince Alexander Polder lies at feet (7 meters) below sea level. A Hero Of Our Time A Hero Of Our Time, by Mikhail Lermontov contains four stories about an interesting character named Pechorin. Pechorin's adventures bring out the many different characteristics he contains. One of Pechorin's characteristics that stands out in my mind is his selfish attitude towards women. The story of Bela and Princess Mary, are the two main stories that deal with Pechorin's encounters with women. In the first story "Bela," Pechorin seems to think that Bela is a prize to be won. In the second story "Princess Mary," Pechorin leads two women to believe he loves them. Through these two narratives Pechorin is seen as an insincere and selfish person. However, there are a few exceptions in which he seems to be real in his feelings towards the women. The impression I get from the story of Bela and Princess Mary is that Pechorin believes getting women to fall in love with him is a game, which he always has to win. Pechorin stops at nothing. He designs a plan to make Bela fall for him, once his plan works he gets bored with Bela causing her great pain. Later when Pechorin decides he has feelings for her again it is too late because she dies. In Princess Mary, Pechorin loves a woman named Vera claiming that she is the only woman who has ever been able to understand him. In order for Pechorin and Vera to be accepted Princess Mary must like him. In doing so I think Pechorin takes it too far. I don't think it was necessary for him to lead Princess Mary on as much as he did. Pechorin only had to become friends with Princess Mary to be accepted. He didn't need to lead Princess Mary to believe that he loved her. Pechorin is a very selfish person, and only thinks of himself. He plays with the women's emotions and doesn't think twice about the heartache he causes them. Pechorin's attitude towards the women makes me believe he wants what he can't have and needs to make sure he can win their love. Once Pechorin gets what he wants he becomes uninterested and shows no more interest towards them. At one point in the book Pechorin even admits to his thoughtless actions. Pechorin asks if evil can really be that attractive. This tells me that Pechorin knows what he is doing in the way he treats the women. I think admitting to being Evil makes the situations even worse. This means Pechorin continues acting the way he does being conscious of his actions. Pechorin's attitude is one that many people today share. There are many selfish people in this world who only care about themselves, forgetting about others feelings. In today's world people will go to any extent just to get what they want, knocking over anything that may get in their way. Pechorin's character is one that you are able to identify and possibly even relate to in yourself or other people today.

College papers on Pechorin

As I finished reading the book I began to dislike Pechorin. At the beginning of the book I didn't think he was so bad. I felt at times he was really genuine and cared about the women. However, as I got to the end of the book and saw that hurting the women didn't faze him I disliked him. Please note that this sample paper on Pechorin is for your review only. A friend is someone who cherishes the special moments and memories of life with another person. A friend is a trustworthy companion. Friendship is a relationship, which takes time to build. There are many steps and stages to achieving a true friendship. However, one can think building a friendship is like planting an apple tree. For many people, planting an apple tree represents devotion and leisure. It takes patience to grow an apple tree; frustrations and hardships are also involved in the process. First, the seed is planted. The seed builds the foundation of a strong and stable tree. It has to be cared for, maintained, and watered daily. Then the shoots start sprouting; the tree is finally flourishing. One can see day by day the apple tree growing. Then one day the tree starts to wilt its dying. One has to tend to it and have the patience and determination to bring it back to life. It frustrates one to see the insects and predators nibbling on the beautiful round ripe red apples that once existed; however hard work and determination regains the apple trees beauty and gives it life again. The charm and divine beauty of the apple tree is a wonderful enlightening sight. Building a friendship has similar characteristics. One meets a person and plants the seed of friendship. The friendship builds and continues to grow stronger. It requires devotion of time and patience to achieve communication and trust between the two companions. The battle to keep a healthy friendship includes many obstacles and hardships. But compromising, devotion and the willingness to endure are sure to payoff in the end. All Friendships have its good and bad times. There comes a time when the relationship is just not working. It is filled with disagreements and arguments. It is close to destruction.

One must have the patience to deal with such stressful, confusing, and disappointing frustrations. The willingness and determination to get the relationship working again come from the willingness you have within. Compromising and persistence rebuilds the friendship and is once again reestablished. The friendship is blooming and is finally bringing joy and smiles again. It's great to have a strong and healthy relationship that allows two companions to share the joys and memories of life's pleasures and struggles together. If building a friendship can be compared to growing an apple tree then perhaps some of its frustrations and problems can be better understood. The true meaning of friendship is achieved by understanding its relativity to growing an apple tree. A person who builds a friendship as growing an apple tree can overcome the obstacles of it very easily. The symbolism becomes clear and precise. Friendship and growing a apple tree or any other type of tree, fruit, or garden can all be said to have it's ups' and downs'. The more effort and power you put into them the more strongly and everlasting happiness can be accomplished. Please note that this sample paper on Cause and Effect: Friendship is for your review only. Whathas happened to the Standard of living in Canada duringthis same period?AnswerTo address the in economy Canada you must define the areas to be measured. Economic expansion occurs when the economy is growing and people are spending money. In order to be doing this, there must be money to be made. Therefore there must be some kind of workforce to employ the people in order to make the money to be spent. Conversely the opposite happens during a recession when the economy slows down. Business at this time is not able to sell as many products. They then increase layoffs, which will slow down the economy and see a decline in productivity and spending of consumers. As a starting point to address this question, the fist point addressed will be the unemployment rate. This rate is defined as the condition in which a population wants to work but cant find jobs (1). In the time January 1 to January 00 the unemployment rate went from 11.1% to 7.4% (1). This decrease in the unemployment rate accounted for .7% increase in the number of employed work force. This in turn would create more jobs, and with all other thing being equal would create more income for its citizens to spend. With more jobs comes more spending and more growth. Communities spend more on building and increasing there infrastructure. Another indicator to measure the economy is called the gross domestic product. This is defined as the sum of all goods and services produced in a country during a year. Gross domestic product is also referred as economic output. In the year from January 1 to January 00 the gross domestic product has risen 5.5%(table 1). This indicates the economy has grown significantly during this time with more goods and services produced in Canada. An indicator to address the standard of living in could be the consumer price index. The consumer price index is a broad measure of the cost of living in Canada . In this time period the consumer price index increased 18.% . Therefore the average annual rate of inflation was 1.6%. The bank of Canada has an Inflation control target set at around %. Over this period of time the average inflation was well within the target. It would be my conclusion based on these indicators that the Canadian economy has grown and the standard of living has increased. These of course are the financial indicators that do not take into account all the diversity of a country. Standard of living has many angles like education access to health care and fresh water and food for the poor. These of course do not take into account all of these. When accessing standard of living it may be better judged by the United Nations human development reports, where in 00 Canada ranked number third on the list4. These reports are compiled using many indicators not just financial ones, like political freedom, adolescent school enrollment and more. Using this Canada ranked third behind Sweden and Norway, but ahead of the United states and Japan, which if you just used the financial indicators it would not have ranked as high. This may be a better indicator as a better overall standard of living Indicator. Please note that this sample paper on trade disputes in america is for your review only. Jim Ambrose, is a -year-old citizen of Monroe but he hasn't always lived here. I am going to let you know what it was like for a kid in the late 60's, 70's, and early 80's. Jim was born in Pasadena, California in 167. During the first few years of his life he spent his life moving around and living in different places. Finally in 175 he settled down in a low-income housing community which was run by FHA. In the interview Jim said, "Kind of like Habitat for Humanity." What he could remember of this life was that the community was very friendly and he would always be doing things with the other kids in the community. Then in 178 Jim moved to Ohio where he would live at up until he graduated High School. In Ohio Jim lived in a nice trailer park compared to the ones of today. He spent most of his time inside sheltered from the rest of the world. During these times the economy was bad for low-income families. An exact quote that Jim gave me, "My mom cried when Ronald Regan won the Presidential Election." But when he wasn't at home he was hanging out with his friends at the park. Him and his friends didn't drink nor do drugs. In high school Jim was not considered a real popular kid so he said, "The peer pressure wasn't really bad." When he went to the park he would see the cheerleaders and the sports players smoking, drinking, and having sex. "I was a virgin until twenty-one," said Jim. He figured he could wait. In his junior year Jim became a peer counselor for his school. That was when the jocks started to show Jim with a little bit more respect. He stayed in this program in his junior and senior years of high school. Every few weeks he would go to peer counseling camps where he learned about teen sex, drugs, and alcohol. He said, "This was a very powerful experience and partly the reason he was a virgin until 1." During his teenage years Jim's relationship with his parents wasn't very good. But when I asked him he said "I tended to get along better with my mom then my dad but she wasn't always there for me." His mom would spend most of the time sitting on the edge of the couch watching soap operas. Jim's dad wasn't much better because he was a truck driver and Jim wouldn't see him for weeks upon weeks. But this one time when Jim was Linus in "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" after the show his dad came up and told him, "This made my week son." This of course shocked Jim because his dad hardly ever showed Jim any affection. But when his dad did show him any affection it was a surprise. Just before his dad died he told Jim's mother "I wished I had talked to Jim more." One of the bad moments Jim could remember was when Jim reared his fist back like he was going to hit his dad and Jim's dad clocked Jim with his fist and sent him clear through the wall into the bathroom from the living room. But this was just a rare moment. So as you can tell as a kid Jim was raised in a low-income family who moved a lot. His dad wasn't around much and when he was he didn't show any affection to his kids. Jim's mom would just watch soap operas on the couch all day. But I think Jim turned out all right because he is a very kind and courteous person. He has a great job, teaches catechism, and is an assistant youth group leader.

When you play a part or a role to disguise your true character it harms you in the end. Hamlet's antic disposition was a tragic error on his part because it let to his eventual demise. Hamlet displays the antic disposition in order to fool Claudius, although Claudius is the only character to not be fooled. When Hamlet denies Ophelia his love, she goes mad and takes her life. Hamlet becomes confused as to whether he is insane or not. For these reasons, Hamlet's decision to portray an antic disposition is a tragic error. When Hamlet found out that Claudius killed his father Hamlet was furious, and got right to work on how to get his fathers revenge. Hamlet went to work by coming up with a plan to act mad so that it would hide the truth from Claudius, which was that Hamlet was going to kill Claudius. Hamlet has no such luck. Claudius does not believe Hamlet's attempt at pretending that he is mad. Was not like madness. There's something in his soul (III; I; 161). This means that Claudius does not believe that Hamlet is insane, but rather has some sort of plan being brewed. Claudius also has a plan that is to kill hamlet. This is ironic because in the end they end up Claudius is in the end murdered by Hamlet. Hamlet must act mad if he wants Claudius to believe him, so Hamlet uses his confrontations with Ophelia to display it. Ophelia is manipulated by Hamlet for his own personal gain. Hamlet uses Ophelia to get the word that he is mad around the kingdom. This is sad because Ophelia is innocent and she ends up committing suicide in the end. One of the way's Hamlet fools Ophelia into believing that he is insane is by scaring her. (II; I;75). I have been so affrighted. Hamlet fools Ophelia into believing that he is mad by killing Polonius behind a curtain in the Gertrude's room. This incident drives Ophelia into becoming insane and leads to her taking her own life. Hamlet spends much of his time pretending to be mad, that he starts to believe that he really is insane. Hamlet feels as if he is losing control when he sees his father's ghost in Gertrude's chambers. Every other time the ghost appeared, someone else saw it as well, only this time his mother did not see it. On him, on him! Look you, how pale he glares! (III; iv; 16) He believes that there is something inside of him that he no longer has control over. I in me something dangerous (V; 1; 5-40) Hamlet begins to believe he should be murdered for his offences, and that he deserves to suffer. My head should be struck off (V;ii;4). Approaching the end of the story, Hamlet can no longer determine whether he is mentally fit and he pays the ultimate price.

In conclusion Hamlet's decision to portray the antic disposition was a tragic error for it led to his eventual demise. In the end, Hamlet did not fool Claudius into believing that he had gone insane. Hamlet had fooled poor Ophelia into believing he was mad, causing her to commit suicide. Hamlet became confused on the matter of whether he had gone mad himself. These events resulted in Hamlets life being drastically changed. As Hamlet discovered, when playing the part of insanity, you must be careful, or you may become that part. This year, the year 00 we have come together to celebrate one hundred years of African American success. We come to commemorate one hundred years of struggles and achievements. From the establishment of the NAACP to the fight for Civil Rights in the sixties, we have witnessed racial promotion become more common in the African American communities. Towards the early mark of the century it was common for African Americans to promote racial marginalism. It is now visible, one hundred years later, that we have stepped away from marginalism. As we reflect upon the centennial achievements, we are obligated to think of such achievements as the NAACP, Civil Rights Movement, African Americans in music, drama, sports, and government. However, we tend to neglect African American journals. As we overlook African American Journals we do not see that African American journals, at the beginning of the Centennial Reflection, created African American readers. Such journals such as The Messenger, The Opportunity, The Crisis, and The North Star not only created African Americans writers but African American readers. The last one hundred years comprise of several "African American Time Periods. " These "time periods" are From Reconstruction to the New Negro Renaissance. This age is from the Emancipation Proclamation to the time in which Alain Locke thought there was a "New Negro." This epoch includes such persons as Booker T. Washington, Charles Chesnut, W.E.B DuBois, James Weldon Johnson, and others. The ensuing period is the Harlem Renaissance, in which we are obliged to commemorate such names as Billie Holliday, Cab Calloway, and Duke Ellington. But what we fail to see is that the Harlem Renaissance was an explosion of aptitude, or as W.E.B DuBois would say, "The Talented Ten." Which was referred to as "Ten percent of every generation has God given talent." The Talented Ten, was written by W.E.B DuBois book "Souls of Black Folks." The final period was Realism, Naturalism, and Modernism. This was between the period of 140 to 160. This included such anamnesis as the Civil Rights Movement and Voters Registration law being passed. The Harlem Renaissance has become a time for remembrance, and recognition. This outstanding day in age is now known as a period for phenomenal literature, musical, and artistic vigor and creativity in the U.S. The Harlem Renaissance produced sophisticated explorations of black American life and culture that revealed and stimulated a new confidence and racial pride and promotion.

In conclusion, we see that the African American race has not only come a long way but has overcome numerous obstacles with trophies to show. These trophies are achievements such as desegregation, and civil rights for all. When we say we are showing recognition for the African American race, we cannot compile all of these achievements into only one hundred years. The black race extends further then any textbook can hold. For the last one hundred years we have found that Alain Locke's book "The New Negro" was not only an idea but a fact, because we have grown from a race that promoted racial marginalism and now have grown to a race that promotes racial pride. The Olive Branch Petition The Olive Branch Petition was drafted by John Dickenson during the Second Continental Congress on July 5 1775. The American Revolution had already started with the Battles of Concord, Lexington and Bunker Hill. The members of the Continental Congress disagreed about what steps to take in order to dissolve the confrontation with the King. Some wanted Independence even if it meant war. The Loyalists did not want to betray King George III, even though they disagreed with taxation without representation. They met a compromise to plea with the King one last time to reach a reasonable solution. They called it the Olive Branch Petition after an ancient symbol of light and peace. According to biblical reference, the oil from the fruit of one olive tree can supply the needs for one family for a long time. The petition declared the colonies loyal to the King and said they only want peace with England. On July 8, 1775, the members of the Continental Congress signed the document and sent it to the King. Among the signatures were those of John Hancock, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, John Adams, Tomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, John Jay, Lewis Morris, Roger Sherman, and other founding fathers. King George refused to read the petition. He said it was an illegal document created by an illegal congress. On August , 1775, he proclaimed that the colonists had "proceeded to open and avowed rebellion".

The Olive Branch Petition represents the final effort of the Colonists to amend the differences with the mother country. Some people think that if the King had accepted the petition the Americans would have fought for Independence nevertheless. The petition would have patched things up with the colonists and the mother country for a short time. Sooner or later more differences would arise, and more colonists would want to fight for independence than did before. One way that the war for Independence could have been avoided is if the mother country had some representation in the colonies, such as a King. Some make it seem that the Loyalists did not want war with the King because they had a strong faith to the British Crown. There was still a large majority of colonists who felt strong about Independence. The reason the petition was drafted was just to compromise with the Loyalists. The Loyalists did not agree with taxes and laws that the King declared. The betrayal was not protested because of faith, but because of fear that America would be taken over by another country. If another super power country of the time did in fact take over, the colonists would have even more differences than with their mother country. One major difference the loyalists were concerned about was religions; they did not practice the same religion as other super power countries. If the Loyalists were so extreme with their commitment with the King they would have not left the mother country. So the Loyalists weren't against war because they were worried about causalities or betraying the King. I think they just intimidated by the British military. The colonists were out numbered and the British were known as being the best army. The Loyalists wanted independence but, they doubted their own military and feared Please note that this sample paper on The Olive Branch Petition is for your review only. political service of the Florentine republic and rose rapidly in importance after the invasion of King Charles VIII, which caused his father to go bankrupt from economic decline. As defense secretary he substituted a citizens militia for the mercenary system then prevailing in Italy. This reform sprang from his conviction, set forth in his major works, that the employment of mercenaries had largely contributed to the political weakness of Italy. Machiavelli became acquainted with power politics through his important diplomatic missions. The Medici returned and caused Machiavelli's militia to surrender without a fight and forced the Republic to an end and his dismissal. He was briefly imprisoned and was tortured for his alleged complicity in a plot against the Medici. Machiavelli retired to his country estate, where he wrote his chief works. The first of his works was The Prince, in which he used a the story of a prince and how the prince must command a citizen army and keep it disciplined by a reputation of cruelty. Machiavelli also stated in his book how his prince is to disregard the accepted rules of politics, and to hit below the belt, meaning if you must lie then do so, and violate treaties. Interpretations of The Prince vary it has been viewed as sincere advice, as a plea for political office, as a detached analysis of Italian politics, as evidence of early Italian nationalism, and as political ridicule on Medici rule. However, the adjective "Machiavellian" has come to be a synonym for unethical cleverness and for justification by power. The main theme of the article " Machiavelli" is show his peculiar cast of mind as an imaginative artist that writes playwrights obsessed with extreme dramatic situations.B. I think Vincent Cronin did a very good job on this article, once again it informed me of things that I never knew about Niccolo Machiavelli. The author used very good sources and explained how Machiavelli came up with his way of thinking, he just hated to be defeated. I really don't see him as a bad man just because of what he wrote in his books because the article shows how some of the kings or rulers used a least some concept of Machiavellis works. The article was brief, but the author collected a lot of informative information to keep your attention. I really like the way the author stated how Machiavelli used historical facts from variety of authors not of the same period and used the facts to draw a conclusion or answer a important questions.C. The signifigance of this article was to give us another frame a mind about Niccolo Macheavelli. I really don't believe that he was this just this murderer and evil person, but I just think that he had a very imaginative way of thinking he was an artist, and to be an artist you must have a vivid imagination. In his lifetime he was considered a failure but it has been decades and his legacy of works still live on, maybe not to be used in our day and time, but we still use it to teach and inform. Please note that this sample paper on MACHIAVELLI is for your review only. He discusses how he feels in his essay "How the Web Destroys the Quality of Research Papers." Rothenberg totally disagrees with the fact of using the web for the main source for a research for a paper. For him, "[i]t's easy to spot a research paper that is based primarily on information collected from the Web" (Rothenberg 610). He notices that when his students make their work cited page, there are many "www.etc" references rather than book references (610). The sources are not very much help for thier paper, but actually takes them away from their originality that he knows his students can produce. Seeing that Web sites contents mainly consists of summaries of someone else's work, that are then they posted it on the website, or they would take information from one person's Web page and then paste it on theirs. He believes there is nothing wrong with doing that since it wouldn't be considered "plagiarism if no author is cited on a Web page" (61). Therefore, there is no exact idea where the original work came from on a Web site being that all the information is being recycled. Rothenberg doesn't blame the children for the usage of computers for research, but the libraries in the colleges "diverting funds from books to technology" (61). Instead of filling the libraries with new books that can expand a child's mind while searching through them, they tend to use the funds on computers that, unlike books, become more useless as the children age. Libraries, unlike search engines which are compared to "slot machines than to library catalogues", are to be centers of information where one can grab a book on any subject, and then as they search through the book they tend to learn other things (611). Libraries also separate themselves from computers by giving direct links to the information that is needed to complete a research, but computers will give you the "hunt and peck method" which will possibly give you hundred of thousands of results in which only a few of them will actually become useful towards the research paper. Finally he describes how using a computer can not only correct their grammatical errors in their paper, but if adjusted properly a paper can be made twice its original length. One can simply "readjust the margin, change the font size, and . . . voila" a students page can reach its desired length without adding extra text (611). Computer are supposed to be the most wonderful inventions of our times. Something that should make life easier and release stress from our everyday lives. But does it tend to make life a little too easy for us? So easy that it makes us totally lazy and allows us to type a few words and a task can be performed with little to no effort at all. If a computer is a students first resource for incomplete information that will give them an effortless paper, then what will be the next step? Will it reduce the jobs of people when a computer is used to complete work?

Florida is a state known for sun and fun, which is why it is called the " Sun Shine State." Florida is a great choice for a vacation spot because whether or not you are on the east or west coast, each town is more beautiful, and each site is more exciting than the next. With tons of amusement parks, water parks, and plenty more, it is impossible to be bored in such a happy atmosphere. Some of the most exciting places with a lot more to do then just sun bathe, that I have visited are South Beach and Fort Lauderdale Beach. Not are they known for their beautiful beach but also for the all night partying, trendy shops, and delicious foods. South Beach, which is located in downtown Miami on Washington Avenue, has so many different things to do just in case the sun is too much. With over one hundred trendy shops, you'll be sure to stop in and buy some of the most up to date clothes. Then, after you are done shopping, you can sit down to eat at one of the many different culturalistic places to eat. My favorite was Nemos, with appetizers from $7 to $1 dollars and main courses starting at $0 dollars. You cannot resist such a place with delicious foods and reasonable prices. When you are done eating and ready to go out for the night, there are over thirty different clubs and bars. If you listen to techno and trance like I do then you would enjoy Level, which has multiple dance floors, nine bars and a thirty-foot glass encased waterfall. Or if you are into Spanish style clubs, Mango's Tropical is the place for you. It is a tropical hot spot with high-energy salsa and tropical tunes. Fort Lauderdale Beach has always been one of the world's top beach destinations. With an average temperature of seventy-seven, outdoor activities are a must. While walking down the strip, parallel to A1A and across the street from the beach, you can stop at one of the many sun wear shops and pick out one of the hottest bathing suits. The dining in Fort Lauderdale is exquisite. At the Margarita Caf you can choose from a variety of delicious Mexican cuisine, glimpse at the largest saltwater aquarium in the city, and listen to a live mariachi band, and after the meal is over sit back while drinking "The Giant Margarita," which is the house specialty. After the day is done and you are ready for excitement, there are plenty of clubs and bars to experience, but two of my favorite ones were Atlantis and Fat Tuesdays. Atlantis is a typical club with techno and rap all played on one main dance floor, three bars, and an outside patio with a pool. Fat Tuesday is more of a bar with two sections both playing rap and techno. Florida is an all around good place not only to get a tan but to have a good time as well. I have been a frequent Florida tourist since I was five years old. From my first experience to my last, each time I go I see new sites, and each one is more interesting then the next. From meeting the beaches to a night on the strip, you can see that Florida is all about the sun and having fun.

Throughout European history, absolute monarchy has been seen in many nations as an effective form of government. Complete control over a state and its people enabled rulers of the time to accomplish much by expanding lands, strengthening the economy, and often improving the lives of the common people. Phillip II of Spain and Peter the Great of Russia are two rulers who exemplify this theory. Although similar in some ways, the two also had differences in their rulings, both of which led to their overall success as absolute monarchs.

Phillip II worked hard to centralize his government, so that all parts of his government became responsible to him. Similarly, Peter the Great centralized his royal power and changed the government structure to reach his goals of modern European style reforms in Russia. Phillip became determined to expand Spanish Catholic power. He broadened the nation's borders with the military force of his powerful navy. Peter used comparable methods in Russia with his military to push Russian lands to the Baltic Sea. Here he built a warm-water port after a long war with Sweden. Phillip worked hard to insure that his divine rule was enforced in the lives of the people, and the culture of Spain during this time reflects this. Peter the Great also believed that his absolute rule should be imposed in the culture and daily lives of his people.

Despite their similarities in ruling, Phillip had his own unique methods and reasons for running a government. Although both rulers centralized royal power and had complete control, Phillip II claimed divine right, meaning his authority came from God. His reasons for expansions of borders by military force were unique from Peter's in that they were done for religious purposes. Phillip wanted not only to expand his nation's territory and power, but also that of the Catholic Church and its influence. While both of these two absolute rulers brought their nations culture under their own influence, Phillip imposed Catholic culture and religious unity to all of his people. The regular activities and lifestyles of the people were directly shaped by his cultural choices.

Peter's rule was not the same as Phillip's in every aspect and there were in fact a number of variances. Although Peter acted as the most autocratic ruler Russia had ever had, he inherited his throne at a young age and never claimed his power came from divine right. In addition, Peter's military campaigns were fought for his own particular goals for Russia. His main concern was establishing a warm-water port for his country, something it had never had. Religion had very little influence over his actions. Finally, other countries inspired the reformed culture created by Peter during his reign. He wanted to modernize Russia after visiting and studying European culture, and therefore forced his ideas on the Russian people and government.

Overall, the similarities and differences in the styles and methods used in their governance enabled their powerful and influential legacies as rulers. Along with other autocrats of the time, the reigns of Phillip II and Peter the Great reinforced the common belief of the need for a strong central authority in a government. Absolute monarchy in the majority of European nations for more than two centuries proved this belief during this time period in history.

PHILIPPINE BILINGUAL EDUCATION RESEARCH AND ITS DIRECTIONSResearches on bilingualism and bilingual education have been hindered by the lack of definitions on the terms related to the implementation of bilingual education. A bilingual is one who possesses a language skill in two languages. A balanced bilingual is one who is equally able to understand, speak, read, and write in two or more languages. Pseudo-bilinguals are those who are more familiar with their native language than with their second language. Compound bilinguals are those who translate from one language through another. Coordinate bilinguals are those who maintain a separate language system for reading, writing, listening and speaking. Research studies done since the '60's (the Iloilo and Rizal experiments) sought to evaluate the effects of varying language instruction in the primary grades. The Iloilo experiment showed that instruction in non-native languages are taught to pupils beginning in grade 1 and that this gave better results. The Rizal experiment likewise found out, among other things that English proficiency is directly related to the number of years it is used as a medium of instruction.More recently, research direction have taken on a different direction. Some of which are on the areas of impressions on certain inferences for language education, ethic attitudes , language usage and preference patterns, language use and social interchanges and others.

Student Loans 101 For some students, college means freedom. For others it means fun. But for most it means responsibility. Responsibilities include many things, but most importantly bills. For struggling college students, student loans are the way to go. Finding out which loan works best for you may take some time, but it is better than your other options such as credit cards or a bank loans. For most students, credit cards seem like the best solution to their tuition woes. "I'll pay it off little by little, no problem," said Brooke Johnson who has accumulated three credit cards just to pay her way through undergraduate school. "My advice to my students is to cut up their credit cards and cancel their accounts," said Peter Rosko, a retired professor who taught finance courses in the University's Carlson School of Management. "I despise credit card people. They make it easy to get the card, but students run up a lot of debt." The average credit card balance among undergraduates was $,7. Twenty-one percent of undergraduates also had credit cards with high-level balances between $,000 and $7,000. Overall, students double their average credit card debt from the time they arrive on campus as a freshman until they graduate. When are students going to wake up and smell the financial aid office?Student loans are another means of paying their tuition bill. When I went to the financial aid office the lady behind the desk informed me of my student loan options. She explained the types of loans to me, and how to get them. It was then I found the answer to every college student's question, a subsidized Stafford loan. A subsidized Stafford loan is a loan in which the government pays all the interest on your loan while you are in school. Also, you will not be required to start making interest or principal payments until six months after you graduate. This does not only mean undergraduate graduation but from graduate school as well. As a college student this loan not only allows the student to save money to pay off the loan, but it allows the student to use the money they have now for things they need such as gas or money for a car payment.

Credit card payments are also another reason student loans are a better option. The student must pay minimum payments each month. Student loans on the other hand have many methods of repayment. One is not to think repayment is an option, you must repay the loan. But, the student may tailor a plan specific to their conditions, such as projected income and time needed for complete payment. Also, for those students who do not acquire a job in the six months after graduation, they may request more time. There is more good news for future borrowers; interest rates on federal student loans dropped nearly a full percentage. No more paying 8.% on that credit card. The drop has saved students hundreds of dollars in the long run. Can you ever say your credit card has saved you money? Though there are many helping hands for the broke college student, they are hard to decipher. Credit cards seem to be an easy escape, but one wrong move can get you trapped in debt. There are always student loans. But to find the right loan you must to do the appropriate research. This could mean in the financial aid office, online, or even at your local bank. Do the right thing and get a student loan. Please note that this sample paper on Student Loans 101 is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on Student Loans 101, we are here to assist you.
