Imagine that it is early in the morning, and the well-dressed young African-American man driving his Ford Explorer on the interstate sees the blue lights of a State Patrol car behind him. The officer pulls behind the sport utility vehicle and the young mans heart begins to sink. He is on his way to a job interview. Davis also vetoes what has been colloquially referred to as the "Driving While Black or Brown" bill (SB 78.) The bill was proposed to combat racial profiling law enforcement actions taken simply because of the race of the driver by requiring police officers to file reports on all motorists they stop. Although former President Clinton had recently ordered federal law enforcement agencies to begin collecting this data, and a number of Bay Area police departments had similar plans, Davis saw little need to collect this information. However, the "Driving While Black or Brown" bill makes much sense to part of the solution to help decrease or even end the crime of racial profiling. As a solution to ending racial profiling, a committee should be established within the United States Government in which the committee shall oversee each county and district and department for any racial profiling. These members should be made up of civil rights organizations such as the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). Also, there should be advising law enforcement officers and people appointed from each civil rights division in the government. Within districts, officials shall be appointed to oversee the actions of the departments, and report to higher authorities in the committee. A committee similar to this has been formed because of the Law Enforcement Trust and Integrity Act of 000, called the Task Force on Law Enforcement Oversight. Each department should first make an independent audit. There have been many policies made and almost approved to make these audits mandatory for all police departments. Each person should record the following race, color, ethnicity, gender, and the reason for being stopped. Every 4 months or so, the committee shall evaluate each district and their statistics on what kinds of people are being stopped and determine which city has higher minority stopping, based on population of the area and racial crime in the area. Because Americans are segregated into communities more minorities will be stopped in certain areas than others will. Because of this problem, the committee will evaluate the area, and observe data written by law enforcement officers, to see if plausible reasons have caused the stopping of a minority. Once all data has been evaluated, the districts with the highest racial profiling rating shall complete a full audit report for the following months. Also, individual law enforcement shall be evaluated as well, to see if it is only one individual who increases the rating, rather that the whole department. If the racial profiling is targeted and found, the committee shall be the one who files complaints to the Attorney General, and that certain department or law enforcer will be detained to consequences can be established. To be able to bring these racial profilers to trial, people should not only file a complaint to the department itself, fear of the complaint being "lost", but to the committee as well so the complaint can be used as evidence. This solution can only work if districts, departments, and law enforcement officers can truthfully carry out these procedures. No matter how hard the outside world tries to find the culprit, the officer can easily protect or defend themselves because of their high position as a law protector. Shakespeare presents the two types of love showing that there can be a difference in love and how types of love can affect the characters in different ways. But Helena does not want to fight her, as she doesn't have a clue how any of this has happened, this shows the maturity that Helena has over Hermia.'Let her not hurt me; I was never curst' Oberon enters and is shocked to discover Pucks mistake, but quickly solves the problem, with more magic, they have to act quickly because all magic has to happen at night, when all is meant to be returned to normal. It is only the men that are affected by the magic, as it was them who were fighting over the women in the first place, so the magic would teach them a lesson, not to intervene in requited love. Now we come to the second of the two love triangles in the play, in Act , Scene 1 this is between Titania, Oberon and Bottom, from the Rude Mechanicals. As Titania and Oberon have quarrelled over the little changeling boy, Oberon sends Puck to find a magic flower, just like he did for Demetrius, except this time the juices from it are to be applied to Titania's eyes, this is part of Oberon's plan to teach Titania a lesson, after she took the changeling boy away from him. Oberon also gets Puck to turn Bottom into an ass, so that when Titania awakes she will fall in love with him. This scene in the play brings out one of the major themes, perception, as Titania is unable to see Bottom's ugliness, she sees him as beautiful and wise, which is ironic and ultimately comical, as he is an ass an is certainly not wise or beautiful

Hermia refuses her father's demand, while both Lysander and Demetrius press their suits to Theseus. The wise Athenian ruler upholds the law as it stands: he first rules that Hermia must either follow her father's preference for Demetrius or remain unwed forever. But Theseus also gives Hermia and Lysander some time to accommodate themselves to his decision and then calls Egeus into a private, off-stage consultation. All the players leave save Lysander and Hermia, with the former uttering the famous sentiment that, "The course of true love never did run smooth" (I,i., l.134). Another Athenian maid, Helena arrives. She is both a (former) friend of Hermia and a rival for the affections of Demetrius, whom Hermia spurns but Helena loves. Hermia tries to assuage her friend's jealousy by revealing to Helena that she and Lysander plan to run away into the woods near Athens, leaving Demetrius free for Helena to pursue. Left alone on stage, Hermia tells us that she will attempt to gain Demetrius' favor by telling him about Hermia's plans and then following him into the woods. Thus, Lysander and Hermia are in love; Demetrius loves Hermia and rejects Helena; Helena nonetheless loves Demetrius and is jealous of her childhood friend, Hermia. But it is not Lysander whom Helena wants, and she berates him for the fickleness of his love toward Hermia. Helena leaves in a huff, the love-stricken Lysander now chases after her, and Hermia is shocked to find him gone when she awakens. (Jump to the text of Act II, scene ii) Act IIIScene i: Nearby in these magical woods, Quince, Bottom, and the other amateurs begin their rehearsal of Pyramus and Thisbe, and more hilarity is generated as they display their abysmal ignorance of stagecraft again. Oberon tries to rectify the mix-up, by applying the love juice to a (conveniently) sleeping Demetrius, ordering Puck to lure Helena to the spot so that he will see her when he wakes up. Helena does appear, with still-bewitched Lysander pleading his love for her. Demetrius then awakens to see Helena, and now both he and Lysander are again madly in love with the same girl, but this time it is with Helena. As both profess their affections toward her, Helena interprets their love to be a jest, a conspiracy meant to mock her. When an equally confused Hermia appears in search of Lysander, Helena thinks that Hermia too is involved in a conspiracy to embarrass her. The two young women argue with and insult each other; Lysander and Demetrius do the same and stalk off to fight for Helena's hand. He decides to dismiss it all, concluding that "Man is but an ass" if he speaks of his dreams. (Jump to the text of Act IV, scene i) Scene ii: The other mechanicals worry about Bottom's absence and consider how it will affect their performance of "Pyramus and Thisbe" before Theseus and his bridal court. A befuddled Bottom enters and proclaims that the show will now go on. (Jump to the text of Act IV, scene ii) Act VScene i: The sole scene of the play's concluding act is given over to Bottom, his cohorts, and their production of "Pyramus and Thisbe." I hear them everyday as part of my job and they are just a few of the terms related to the exciting, growing field of computers, the field I have dedicated myself to for two decades. Working in the information technology field has been an interesting and exciting career choice. I have advanced my career from entering information on a single computer and generating printed reports for others to recommending, designing, and installing local area networks (LAN's) that help businesses maximize their access to vital business data. Computers have become an integral component of the business world and I have been fortunate to be a part of that growing community.A LAN is a group of computers, printers and other components connected by some hardware source, either wire, fiber, or radio waves. A typical LAN consists of a server, which is a central data repository, the physical connections to the computers, and the clients or workstations. There can also be other peripheral devices that can be shared on a network such as printers, fax machines, modems, and scanners. The ability to share these devices among several users results in lower costs for organizations, helping them to raise profits. Prior to networks becoming commonplace in organizations, data was often shared via sneaker-net. Work done on one computer would be saved to a floppy disk and then hand carried to someone else to work with on another computer. I began working with computers while serving active duty with the United States Army. I was assigned as a Computer Operator on a Honeywell computer system, an assignment that initially sounded exciting, but actually turned out to be quite boring. My duties consisted of keypunching, mounting tapes (similar to audio reel-to-reel tapes), and taking reports off printers, separating them, and preparing them for distribution. During that period, the computer system I worked on was fully enclosed in a semi-trailer, capable of deploying to the field along with my unit. During my tenure in this job, I was lucky enough to take part in the development and testing of a new field system. That field system was based on the use of personal computers (PC's), a new inductee to the computer industry. That involvement started me on a path that eventually led to a rewarding career in computer networking. After leaving active duty, and venturing out as a civilian, I began my employment with an industrial painting contractor. I worked as an Accounting Clerk, entering receipt and billing information into the computer. To ease the tracking of progress and profitability on projects, I developed and implemented spreadsheets. Much of my attention was devoted to the execution of a system used to simplify the company's process for estimates, related to bids they were working on. While working on this estimating system, I began investigating software packages that that had programs in place for just such a task. It was during this investigation that I began to learn about LAN's. After speaking with the president of the company, we decided to investigate whether or not a LAN would be beneficial. This research led to the decision to purchase and install a LAN so multiple employees could take advantage of any new system and information form that system that needed to be shared with other employees. I worked along with our vendor of choice to install the network and then assumed responsibility for administration and maintenance. This network consisted of eight computers and printers. I learned as much as possible, applied what I learned, and then realized I was stagnating in that position and looked for another with more challenges.
After 5 years of working at the painting contractor, I moved on to work for a health insurance company. This job position as a Network Administrator involved the same basic job duties. I was responsible for setting up network accounts for users, installing new PC's, installing and configuring software on the network, and setting up shared resources such as printers and modems. Although my basic responsibilities were the same, the environment was much larger. The first network I was responsible for had eight users; this one had over two hundred. This increase in size was a logical progression in my career. While at this job, I was involved in a project to install a claim processing system that was network based. This involved replacing approximately 100 mainframe terminals with PC's. Since these PC's were to be used by people who had little to no experience, it became my duty to conduct basic computer training. I spent approximately two years at this job and with no real path for progression I began to seek other employment.My search led me to a job as a Network Technician for a computer reseller/network integrator. Following the policies, standards, procedures and guidelines greatly simplified these efforts. This gave me an introduction to the crisis of mid-level management during an economic downturn. Facing an impending layoff, I quickly began shopping around for another job.Two interviews later, I accepted a job offer from a company I had previously done extensive consulting work for. A new job with this chemical manufacturer, my current employer, would leave me with the title of Senior Network Analyst. My current position is more technically involved with supervisory involvement on larger projects as a project manager or team leader. I am enjoying this combination because it forces me to stay up on emerging trends and technologies in this ever-changing field. Being in a senior level position, I am also responsible for the training and development of my co-workers. I see this as a benefit for both sides, the more I can train others to do, the more time I have to spend investigating new technology that may prove advantageous to my employer. In this position we support over 1000 users and networks in 10 locations throughout the country. I work with people from our corporate headquarters to set and implement policies and procedures. At the present time I have no desire to continue my job-hopping as I find this job both satisfying and rewarding.Throughout my career I have maintained vendor certifications. This is because all of the data really evens itself out.The differences between the Blonde and Brunette Females IQ Levels only really showed that there were more Brunettes that had between 6 - 100 IQ's than the Blondes. This is not really strong evidence to base the statement of fact that Brunettes are more intelligent as they have higher IQ's than the Blondes.The Box and Whisker Diagram for the Blonde Females IQ has a larger Lower Quartile, a smaller Median area, and a larger Upper Quartile than the Brunette Females IQ.The spacing of the sections in these diagrams shows to me that due to the Blonde Females having a smaller Lower Quartile IQ space there are less people in this section than in the Brunette Females section. As the Upper Quartile is larger for the Blondes than the Brunettes this agrees with the fact that the Blondes appear to be slightly more intelligent and have higher IQ's. However as there is not a real significant difference i.e., by in the Lower Quartile I don't think that this should really be deemed as a final conclusion as if I was to choose different sample data my results may have been more evenly spread for both hair colours. There was one anomaly in this data that I used to answer this Hypothesis. The piece of data that had the Anomaly was a girl in Yr. 11 with Blonde hair and an IQ Level of 11. I don't think that this is a real piece of data as in the whole IQ Levels for Key Stage 4 there was only students with IQ Levels of under 76. These levels were 11 and 14.Therefore from conducting these graphs I can say that my Hypothesis is not true and that I didn't really find any great significant change in the IQ Levels.Does the Average hours of TV Watched per week affect a persons Weight?The hypothesis of this Question that I want to use the data from the Mayfield High School to prove isIs the increase in the amount of television watched by pupils in Year 10 reflected by their size, in weight? E.g. does the heaviest person in my sample watch the most TV? What are the most common hours of TV Watched and is there a concentrated result of the same weight shown here?To get my data and graphs I am going to sort and filter data from the key Stage 4 information. I am going to sort firstly by Age to filter out all of the Year 10 Students. Then I will delete the irrelevant columns and sample using Random sampling 0 entries. This data will then be sorted into the amount of hours of TV Watched in decreasing order, so that I can then draw up my Graphs. I am going to leave the Gender of the people in my data selection so that I can use this to help me make a more precise and accurate reading from my results in my Conclusion and Analysis of data. From looking at my Data in my Table the mean value is 14 with 4 entries. From these 4 entries of 14 Hrs of TV there are 4 different weights. If I average these weights the average weight comes to [6+4+57+6=ans/4]=56 Kg.To answer the question of "does the heaviest person in my sample watch the most TV?" I am going to average all of the weights for each different hrs of TV Watched and plot this in a bar graph.[Bar Graph on the next page]The results from this table and graph show me that there is no real relationship between the heaviest person and the fact that they watch the most television, as predicted in my Hypothesis. This is shown from the fact that the heaviest person watches only 15 Hrs of TV and the person who watches the most TV weighs only 68Kg.Unfortunately from looking at my Graphs I think that there is once again no real correlation between the size of someone and the amount of TV that they watch.However if I look at my Scatter Diagram I can see that, ignoring the anomaly (in a yellow circle), there does seem to be some weak negative correlation. However from looking at the Scatter Diagram even more I can see that this weak positive correlation isn't coming from the fact that the heaviest person watches the most TV but more like the less TV that is watched means that they are of an average weight. This seems to apply until we get to above 0 Hrs of watching TV a week where the results seem to spread up and down. I think that this signifies that when the hours of TV is increased some peoples weight does either increase or decrease from the original concentrated area (average weight). There was one anomaly in my data and this was a male who watched 65 hours of TV a week and Weighed 68 Kg. The reason that I think this is an anomaly is because it is literally impossible to watch this amount of TV a week when the person has to attend school and complete homework of an evening. Also the next person down in my sample only watches 48 hours of TV, so there is a difference range of [68 - 48] 0Hours.The Conclusion to my analysis of data is that my Hypothesis is not true. The rise is 40more higher in IQ Levels for the Girls than the Boys. This works out for each student as a rise in [40/15] = .66 IQ Levels. The very sharp increase in my Surface Area diagram also show this off.Therefore as a Conclusion in my Data Analysis I can say that my Hypothesis ofGirls in Key Stage 4 at the Mayfield High School have a higher IQ Level than the Boys from the same years and school.Is true. I can plot quantative and qualitative data but it is not easy to plot sets of quantative (numbers) data. Throughout carrying out these hypothesises I have come across a few anomalies - These I have identified in each section, and explained by reasons behind them. Mainly the reasons were that the data was totally im - practable and must have been mistakes in the entering of the data.If I were to repeat each of these hypothesises again I think that I would do a few things differently. These would be· Use more amounts of data for each hypothesis.This would provide a larger sample and should mean that I will be able to produce a more strong result. E.g. this could change the difference between a positive and a fairly strong positive correlation in a Scatter Diagram of pieces of Quantative data.· Work out the Mean, Mode, Medians for all sets of data within a hypothesis.This will provide more evidence on which to base my conclusion to my hypothesis. Also using a larger sample it may produce more evidential reasons in a simpler form.· Select equal amounts of boys and girls to form my Sample.E.g. 0 or 15 of each.
