Order your Imagery in Poetry paper at affordable prices with !"After Apple-Picking" is a poem written by Robert Frost. In this poem, Frost uses imagery to an extreme. He takes an ordinary activity, like apple picking, and turns it into an overload for the senses. What makes this poem interesting is that six of the seven senses applied in poetry writing are used. "After Apple-Picking" is a poem for the senses in which the reader can actually see, smell, hear, and feel all the events of apple picking.

The first sense that is described in the poem is visual sense. The reader is initially given a visual image of the set-up the speaker has taken to pick the apples. Lines 1-5 give the reader an initial overview of the apple-picking set-up by describing tallness of the apple tree and how the ladder is poking out through the top of tree. The third line of the poem shows the reader an empty barrel, waiting to be filled by the apples. Frost later uses visual imagery to describe the look of the apples. Lines 1 and 0 describe the apple through visual imagery by stating "Stem end and blossom end, / And every fleck of russet showing clear". This gives the reader an image of the apples' landmarks including the stem and area of blossoming, it also is describing the color of the apple by detailing the small flecks of brown that are shown on the apples' skin.

The next sense described in the poem is olfactory sense. The eighth line of the poem, "The scent of apples I am drowsing off" gives the reader a sense of smelling the apples that have just been picked. By the speaker stating, "I am drowsing off" the reader can get a sense of the apples smelling strong enough to put someone to sleep. The smell of apples can be soothing and somewhat hypnotizing, which then begins putting the speaker to sleep after his long day of apple picking.

Kinesthetic imagery or movement or tension in the muscles or joints is described in line 1. The speaker states that his, "instep arch not only keeps ache," which means that his foot is hurting. It can be assumed that he is feeling this pain because he has been on the ladder picking apples most of the day. The reader is given a better understanding of the pain the speaker is feeling because he uses the word "ache" rather then pain or hurting, which can and may quickly be resolved. An ache, to most people, is an annoyance and something they wish would leave immediately. It is likely that the ache, which is spoken of, is constant and never leaves the speaker.

Lines -6 describe two senses, these being tactile and auditory.

I feel the ladder sway as the boughs bend.

And I keep hearing from the cellar bin

The rumbling sound

Of load on load of apples coming in.

The first line of this excerpt describes the feeling of the ladder moving, as the branches of the tree are being moved by the wind. The next three lines use the auditory sense in which the reader can hear the loads of apples coming into the cellar. The apples are not making a quiet noise; rather they are "rumbling" which gives the sense of a loud noise that may be a bit annoying.

In conclusion Frost does a wonderful job of using imagery in this poem. By using all the senses the reader is given a complete overview of what apple picking is like and how tiring it can be. The tiredness of the speaker is shown through all the senses he is feeling and by the language and tone used in the poem. The reader is given a sensory overload that will stick with them and may be one day they will go apple picking and experience the same senses. In 1787, 55 delegates represented the 1 states at the Constitutional Convention inPhiladelphia. Four questions that was difficult to solve were conflicts over howthe people were to be represented in Congress; what to do about slavery; the powers of thepresident and the procedures for election to the office; and the powers and functions of the

federal courts. After the delegates found a way to solve each of the problem. A committee on styleand revision was assigned in early September to put the final results in language to submit tothe people for ratification. The committee consisted of Alexander Hamilton, Lewis Morris,James Madison, William Johnson, and Rufus King. The framers approved the text of theConstitution on September 15 and 17, all but three of the remaining delegates signed. The Constitution had to be ratified by nine states before it could take effect, andratification nearly failed. Anti-Federalists feared that the proposed Constitution did not protecttheir rights. The supporters of the Constitution was promised to modify the Constitution atthe first opportunity. Delaware became the first state to ratify, on December 7, 1787. It wasfollowed by Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, andSouth Carolina. On June 1, 1788, New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify, whichmade the Constitution legally effective. Since New York and Virginia didn't ratify, it wasdoubtful the Constitution could succeed. Virginia ratified four days later. New York finallyratified on July 6. North Carolina eventually ratified in 178, and Rhode Island in 170.

Madison was elected to the first Congress. He pushed through a series of proposalsthat became the first ten amendments (Bill of Rights). These amendments protected freedomof speech, press, and religion; guarantee a fair, and speedy trial for people charged ofcrimes; forbid cruel and unusual punishment; and provide many other protections against thegovernment. The states ratified the Bill of Rights in 171

The Most Significant Admenment Could you imagine not being able to say what was on your mind? Could youeven begin to think of following a religion that you don't believe in? In my eyes, thefirst amendment in the most significant to living life of freedom. "President Bush admitted for killing Speaker of the House, Dennis Hastret," thereporter announced. "How can he do that? Sometimes I think he can make the most stupidestmistakes. He's the President! How could he do such a thing!" I exclaimed. As the police officer heard me say those words. He came up to me and put mein cuffs. "What did I do?" I asked. "You made harsh remarks about a higher official." he pointed out, "You have aright to remain silence, whatever you say may be used against you in the court oflaw." For all you know we could all be following,Christianity, Judaism, and maybe even Buddhism. Some people could be in jailfor not following the religion they weren't suppose to be following. Life without thefirst amendment would be rather different, and hard. You would have to definitelyhave to think twice before you say something. You would have to watch what yousay, and hope that nothing slips out. We all would be praising a certain God, thatmost of probably wouldn't believe in. As we all live each day, knowing that we can express our thoughts. We should alltake the time to think about how our live would change dramatically if we didn't havethe first amendment. We are so lucky to have the freedom of speech, religion, press, and assembly. Please note that this sample paper on I don't have one is for your review only. It was once said that, Beauty is in the eye of thebeholder. In todays society, who would be considered thebeholder. Some might say they are the beholder, but themedia sometimes molds the view of beauty. Throughout the

ages many people have attempted to put into words theperfect expression of beauty. The portrayal of beauty can bediscovered in many areas of life such as fiction, art, music, non-fiction and the media.Fiction writers have tried to capture beauty ever sincethe days of princesses with long blond hair. K.A. Applegatesuggest that being pretty is having blond hair and blueeyes(). In the United States there as been an increase ofthe changing of hair color among youths. Also the use ofcolored contacts has been increased. Numerous young femalesexpire to be one of those fashion magazine girls(Applegate4). Without knowing girls obsess our their looks. Using makeup and buying expensive clothes seems to be what beauty isall about now. Messages about beauty appear in childrensfiction books, but they also arise in the advertisementsthey see.In an effort to achieve higher sales advertisementscontain images of many teen ideals. The musical idealChristina Aguilera appears in a cosmetics ad with blond hairand blue eyes(Fetish advertisement). Once again thisseemingly universal image of beauty is used. Aguileras hairwhich is natural black has been changed and her eyes withare brown were changed. The picture of Aguilera shows anappearance of fair smooth skin(Fetish advertisement). Mostteens dont realize that even though Aguilera may be wearingfetish products her image is further altered by computers. What kind of message does this throw out? that if you dontlike your body simply alter it. Advertisements may try toput an impression in the minds of youth, but classic poetrylends a helping hands.A golden pallor of voluptuous light(Paul 4). Thisphrase is saying that the presence of someone can fill aroom with golden light. This suggest that beauty isnt aphysical thing but something felt. What can she do putsmile, At her own perfect loveliness below(Paul 4). Beingcomfortable with who you are and how you look cast a beautyall its own. Being fine with your own loveliness rubs off onother people. Poets might be the only ones that point beautyin the right direction but how about non-fiction sources. In the teenage magazine Cosmogirl Michele Bender seemsto hit the nail on the head, Stop staring in the mirror somuch. Spending too much time on physical beauty wastevaluable time away. Spending that time on constructivethings like getting in shape will help the course of lifegreatly. ..picture in her mind of the way she had tolook(Cosmogirl 1). All the outside concepts of beautytend to bombard children before they can handle it. Whenthese children grow up they dont know anything aboutthemselves only what they have been told. The one thing most people see daily is the media.Through movies and television many things can be expressed. In the film The Phantom Menace the Queen wears lots of whitemake up on her face(Star Wars I The Phantom Menace). Thismovie is supposed to be a depiction of the future, wherewoman wear massive amounts of make up. This future is nodoubt not that far off for the woman of today. The Queennever showed her face without make up on(Star Wars I ThePhantom Menace). Most teens already do the same today. Theneed to look better surpasses convenience. So in the end is the individual actually the beholder ofbeauty. It all comes down to the person, but no matter whatwe are influenced to some extent by outside sources. Out ofthe many sources fiction, art, music, non-fiction and themedia few give a good source of the reality of beauty. Please note that this sample paper on Beauty is for your review only. What is a Man?Masculinity and manhood are very general, self opinionated topics. What does it mean to be a man? How does one qualify for the title? Is the term man simply referring to male human beings, or does it hold a greater measure of meaning in society? By definition, the word "man" is described as "an adult human being as distinguished from a female. In William Shakespeare's Macbeth, the main characters frequently dwell on this question and each have their own attitude towards the necessary qualities a true man must possess. Throughout the course of the play, we see a drastic change in not only the roll that both Macbeth and Lady Macbeth play in their relationship, but also their personal intentions and goals and just how far they will go to achieve these goals. One thing that never changes, however, is the stress which Lady Macbeth poses on her husband's masculinity. Lady Macbeth has a very different idea of qualities that represent manhood than those of other characters in the play. Although she believes in courage, strength, and fortitude, she also believes in some other more controversial qualities as well. Lady Macbeth feels that a man isn't truly a man unless he can kill without regret. She also believes that a true man should be able to keep his cool under any amount of pressure. Each of these examples are seen throughout the book and accurately demonstrate her opinions on what a "man" is. We first see Lady Macbeth's influence in the beginning of the novel, just before the devious plan to kill King Duncan takes place, when Macbeth expresses his fear and hesitation. In Lady Macbeth's eyes, the doubt which her husband displays is their biggest threat and the only way to fix this problem is to question his manhood. When you durst do it, then you were a man (I.vii4) This tactic works because Macbeth holds his wife's opinions of him in high regard. Another reason Lady Macbeth is able to convince Macbeth into completing the job is that he wants to please her because she is the dominant spouse in their relationship at this point in the play.

In the banquet scene, Macbeth hallucinates and thinks he sees Banquo's bloody specter sitting at the table. As soon as Macbeth begins conversing with Banquo's ghost, Lady Macbeth apologizes for his behavior and again questions his masculinity in front of all of the guests. "If much you note him, You shall offend him, and extend his passion Feed, and regard him not.Are you a man?" (III.iv 65) This once again worked, and Macbeth snapped out of this trance almost instantaneously. This event exemplifies Lady Macbeth's power over her husband and the influence her opinion has on him. Lady Macbeth has a false impression on what being a man really is. On one hand she believes in courage, strength, and fortitude. However, she also believes that killing a man and showing no emotion also show masculinity. These examples strongly display her corrupt beliefs. While Macbeth and Lady Macbeth's authority changed drastically throughout the play, one thing that never changed was the stress which Lady Macbeth posed on her husband's masculinity. Manhood and what a "man" truly is, has always been a controversial topic. Although killing a man back in the 1600s was not as big of a deal as it is today, I still think that Lady Macbeth has a false opinion of what a "man" really is.
