Recent Development In Ego Psychology and Object Relations/Final Assignment on Heinz KohutIn order to thoroughly illustrate the main structural, developmental, psychopathological concepts, and treatment principles of Dr. Kohut's work, a patient case history will be presented. Using two of Dr. Kohut's major works, The Analysis Of The Self and The Restoration Of The Self, the writer will attempt to explain the major therapeutic concepts of narcissism, including the therapeutic activation of the omnipotent object and the therapeutic activation of the grandiose self. Dr. Kohut's therapeutic concepts will be discussed with the use of the patient's personal and family history, as reported by him during weekly counseling sessions with the writer. The patient, Nick, was referred to the clinic in May 18 by his family physician for personal problems. At the onset of treatment, Nick was thirty-one years old. He was quite well functioning and had never received psychiatric treatment. Nick was in good physical health; he reported that he did not have a history of mental illness in his family.Nick's referral form stated that he was experiencing mild depression and that he wished to speak to an "experienced therapist" in greater detail about his condition.

Kohut writes "The therapeutic activation of the omnipotent object (the idealized parent imago), which will be referred to as the idealizing transference, is the revival during psychoanalysis of one of the two aspects of an early phase of psychic development. It is the state in which, after being exposed to the disturbance of the psychological equilibrium of primary narcissism, the psyche saves a part of the lost experience of global narcissistic perfection by assigning to it an archaic rudimentary (transitional) self-object, the idealized parent imago. Since all bliss and power now reside in the idealized object, the child feels empty and powerless when he is separated from it and he attempts, therefore, to maintain a continuous union with it (Kohut, 171)."In regards to the excerpt mentioned above, and in Nick's particular case, "the idealizing transference" may have been activated on a number of different occasions. Nick's search for the idealized parent imago and his search for some form of narcissistic perfection was visible in his individual counseling sessions, especially when he felt or experienced separation from the writer. The separation Nick felt may have been invoked by his belief that the writer, as well as other people in his life, were unable to be empathic during moments when he felt empty and powerless. Nick's imbalance in his narcissistic equilibrium may have had its roots in his early childhood development, especially when considering his relationship with his mother. Nick described his mother as "depressed" and often tiredshe did not play with himshe was continually preoccupied and self-absorbed with Please note that this sample paper on ego is for your review only. Frederick DouglassThe effect of family valuesThe life of Frederick Douglass as a narrative is a unique and intriguing masterpiece. This narrative irradiates on a whole lot of divergent issues affecting the black family who where under the oppression of slavery. This is also about a man who was born in the cradle of oppression who never allows the mal-treatment of slavery break his spirited soul and his determination to be free.Family is a unit that literally passes on important values from one generation to another. These values may help to nurture, educate, or encourage disciplines in every member, and more importantly create an awareness of which an individual is, and what make him or her what he or she is. In the case of Frederick Douglass, he was born not unto a well-defined family that is characterized by the above points. This is supported by the fact that his mother was a slave, and his father, ironically, a slave master. Fortunately Frederick Douglass was taken care of by his grandmother when he was separated from his mother at birth. According to the narrative, black slave mothers are separated from their infants immediately when they give birth. Through this method, family values are decapitated thus creating a state of isolation wherein elements of family values are unquestionably absence. Frederick Douglass describes the splitting of the family to be one of the cruel consequences of slavery. Born into the spotlight of oppression, Frederick Douglass did not know what true family is; he knew he had a mother, but she was miles away from him. Douglass' knowledge of his father, who should have taught him how to grow up and be a responsible man, was an imagination. There were a lot of questions racing through the mind of young Douglass but the issue of family now, seems not to bother him much. The issue of family now, had no relative effect on Frederick more than his desire to survive the brutal treatment of slavery. We see this in his aging and as he went from one plantation to another, from one slave master to another and how he realize he at time almost considered his slave masters to be his families.Over the years Frederick Douglass have learn a great deal from his experiences and instead of family depositing a sense of values in him he learn from oppression and turn the negative effect of slavery into something positive. By learning how to fight the system of oppression using the only mean more effective, education. Please note that this sample paper on the birds and bees is for your review only. In A Midsummer Nights Dream, William Shakespeare pairs irony with comedy. Egeus, father of Hermia, goes to Thesius (ruler of Athens) to urge him to pass a law that would then force his daughter Hermia to marry Demetrius. Though Demetrius desired to marry Hermia, she wished to be with Lysander. This law Thesius would pass would force a female to marry whosoever her father chose. Upon learning of this, Hermia and Lysander decide to leave to elope in a neighboring town where they would no longer be subject to Athenian law. However, Hermia tells her friend Helena of her plans, and Helena, who was once seduced and abandoned by Demetrius, tells Demetrius hoping to win his affections. That night Hermia and Lysander flee into the woods, and Demetrius follows. Helena then follows Demetrius. Oberon and Titania, King and Queen of the Faeries, are arguing over a young Indian boy they have found. Shortly after their argument, Oberon orders Puck, a mischievous fairy, to fetch a certain flower that had been hit by Cupids arrow, which had been diverted en route to Queen Elizabeth. This flowers juices, when dripped into a persons eyes, cause the victim to fall in love with the first person they see after waking. Oberon orders Puck to drip the flowers juices into Titanias eyes in order to make her love Oberon when she wakes. After completing this task, Puck is told to drip the juices into Demetriuss eyes to make him fall for Helena. Wandering through the forest Puck finds Hermia and Lysander who had fallen asleep on the ground. Mistaking Lysander for Demetrius Puck drips the juices in Lysanders eyes. Moments after Puck leaves Helena stumbles upon Lysander and wakes him, fearing that he was hurt. Lysander instantly falls in love with Helena. Then Demetrius comes and he and Lysander are preparing to fight each other. Meanwhile, a group of men rehearsing a play in the woods when Puck sees them and turns Bottoms, the weavers, head into that of a donkeys. Unfortunately, Titania wakes to Bottom and falls for him rather than Oberon. Now that everything has gone so far of course Oberon has to fix Pucks mistakes. First, he instructs Puck to seperate Lysander and Demetrius, which he does using ventriloquism. After they are both lost, they fall asleep. Oberon applies the love potion to Demetrius and the anecdote to Lysander and Titania. Once Demetrius wakes and finds Helena he falls in love with her. Hermia and Lysander also enter, and both pairs, now united, return to Athens while Oberon, Puck, and Titania remain in the forest.

Things will fall from left to right

High or low, at any height

Grab a marble, make it metal

And perhaps a stress ball that's mellow yellow

Now drop them both and watch them go

Which one hits first? Oh no one knows!

So this is the problem, the dilemma for you

To find a way of predicting the fall of ball one and ball two

Drop them, record them, then tell me what do you find

About dropping two objects at the very same time?

Object The objective of this lab is to find a way of prediction the order in which several objects, when dropped at the same time, will hit the ground.

Methods

In order to find how fast something would hit the ground when dropped in the air, we first had to incorporate what different factors came in to play when something was free falling in the air. We hypothesized that air resistance was one of the main reasons why one object might fall faster than another object. In order to test this we decided to test out what we knew in several separate steps.

1. Obtained nine different types of balls

. Measured the circumference of each ball with a piece of string and then measured the string and wrote down the data.

. Measured each ball on a scale to determine the mass of each ball (in grams).

4. Using the formula that is typically used to find circumference ( r), we worked backward to find the radius of each ball.

5. Using the information found in step four we used the formulas 4 r to find Surface Area, 4 r / to find Volume and D = M/V to find density for each ball.

6. After all the information was recorded into a data chart we used a stop watch to record how long it took each ball to drop to the floor from meters off the ground.

7. After recording this information we then analyzed our findings to come up with a suitable reason for why each ball fell at the rate that it did.

Data and Analysis

Explanation

Our results showed us that although each object dropped has a different mass, surface area, volume and even density, the rate at which they all fall is initially at the same rate, of an average of about .7 seconds for every meters. Also by taking in account the different sizes of surface area for each object we were able to determine which ball would fall slightly (.05 seconds or less) faster than another. Our final conclusion was that the larger the surface area of an object, the more air resistance there was and the slower the ball would fall.

Conclusion and Reflection

We learned that objects will fall at the same rate, unless their surfaces areas are extremely different; and in the case of the waif ball if there are holes in the object it will create a greater air resistance on the object. For those attempting to do this lab in the future, we suggest that you measure and drop your objects more than once so that you are sure that your information is accurate.

Japan is the world's second largest economy with a gross domestic product of roughly more than AU$5. trillion in 17.Japan's economy is larger than that of Germany, the United Kingdom and France combined. It is ten times the size of China and seventeen times the size of India. Japan represents almost three quarter of the entire Asian economy. Furthermore in 16, Japan's economy had the highest growth rate of .6% in the industrialised world. The Japanese economic pie grew at an annual rate of ten percent from the mid 150's until the Arab oil shocks of the early 70's. The Japanese then managed to maintain much more modest but steady growth rates until the early 10's.However, Japan's macroeconomic policy mismanagement deserves special attention, where in late 80's and early 0's, the Japanese government made two major macroeconomic policy mistakes. In 186 when, following the sharp decline in the price of oil, the Yen appreciated more than expected and economic growth slowed more than desired, the sole policy response was monetary stimulus. Although the policy succeeded in accelerating the economic growth, the problem is that the policy was continued for too long. That was considered to be the first macroeconomic mistake.

Essay service for your Analyse Japan's mis-management of the economy in the 1980-1990 period paper

The second mistake was not in easing the monetary policy and fiscal policy sooner and more forcefully in the early 0's.The authorities saw the downturn as primarily a business cycle. They underestimated both the cumulative effect of structural problems, and the long-lasting effects of the huge ongoing decline in the asset values.During most of the 180's,after achieving one of the highest economic growth rates in the industrialized world, the economy slowed considerable in the early 10's. Sinking stock and real estate prices marked the end of the "Bubble economy" of the late 180's. Moreover, over-investment and over-hiring in the late 180's forced many Japanese companies to undertake cost-cutting efforts in the 10's. As a consequence, many Japanese companies were encouraged to shift their production overseas in order to better service export markets.
