"A New Horizon" It was a bright summer day, when my mother reunion my sibling and I in the living room. "A big change in our lives will occur in a couple of months, " She said with a smile on her face. Looking at her face with that big smile, the first thing that went in trough my mind was something excited is about to happen. Mom, with her long black curly hair, sitting down with her legs crossed said " We are moving!" she said. "Where mama, where?" I said anxiously, "Which part of the city, mama?" I lived in Morelia Mexico, three hour away from Mexico City. It is a beautiful city. The average weather is from 65 to 75 degrees; it is always sunny and warm. All my friends lived near me; I walked to school with friends, school was two blocks from the house. It was very important for me to know to what part of the city we were moving to. "Where, mama, where?" I insisted. "A los Estados Unidos" she said, which mean to the United States. My brother, Seb, was so happy to hear that. He got up from the couch, started running, jumping, screaming with glory.

"Calm down, calm down" mom said, "You'll be attending to school there, and I'm sure you will like it".My sister, Yanni, with her big eyes fully opened, just stayed sitting down like if nothing had happen or said. I, of course, did not like the news, exclusive I was begging mom to stay were we were at. But I knew this day was going to arrive. My parents' married in Chicago. And most of my relatives live in the northeast part of the United States. After having my brother and lived eleven year in Madison Chicago, I figure they sometime would want to go back. and relive their happy moments.I was only ten years old, never been to a different country. I was scared of the big change. It was really hard for me the thought of moving to an unknown country with different customs, culture, and language. At this age, all I cared was the fact that I was going to leave all of my friends, my school activities, and my close relatives. The school I attended was huge, all the people in the school knew who I was. I had the happiest memories, playing soccer with my classmates, and friends. Soccer is my favorite sport. What would happen if I didn't make any friends? Or if I didn't like the school? These questions went in my mind constantly. I thought that if I was leaving the country, I was never going to come back. But I thought of this trip as an adventure."Mom, I'm not going anywhere!" I said angrily with tears in my eyes. Mom gave me a furious look. She never liked us to raise our voice at her.The day for departure arrived. It was a dark, cold morning. I was walking out of the house and can hardily see across the street, the fog had covered the city. Usually every dawn was foggy and cold until the clock hit 700 a.m. Please note that this sample paper on a new Horizon is for your review only. The Wild-Goose Chase My Description and Opinions on Annie Dillards The Chase Dillard's essay tells the story of an event in her childhood during winter when she was seven. Before describing this she gives us a brief history of herself as a child. She used to play both football and baseball with the boys during the summer. These boys were slightly older than Dillard and she seems to have prided herself on being as rough and tough as any of them. When it was too cold for football and baseball and there was enough snow on the ground, she would play snowball fights with the boys instead. Since she describes herself as having a "boy's arm" (7) for throwing baseballs, I imagine she was also formidable with a snowball in hand. In the event she describes in the essay she was with a group of boys waiting to throw their snowballs at passing cars. Then when one heralded its approach by the sound of snow chains clanking on the pavement, they readied themselves to pelt it with snow as normal. But, when they let loose, the driver pulled over and ran toward them. Soon the group of children split off and ran in different directions and Dillard was left being chased by this man with another boy ahead of her. Though she expected this driver to give up after scaring the children into fleeing he carried on running them down. He chased them over and around ten blocks before he caught them and at that point had to wait awhile to catch his breath before he could even start to speak. Then, with his suit covered in snow, he proceeded simply to tell them off. For a seven-year-old this was a huge anticlimax after the excitement of a chase all that happened was a routine dressing down. I really like this essay. It's a very good description of the thoughts and feelings going through a child's mind. Which is an amazing feat considering the author wrote the essay many years after the fact. Though being chased by this man was frightening it obviously was also an exciting and exhilarating experience for her as well. She describes what happens as if it's a victory for her as a child, she got a kick out of being chased and all the man who chased her could do was scold a couple of little kids who aren't listening to him. Though at the same time she admired this man, a "sainted, skinny, furious redheaded man" that "would never give up" (100). She admired him for knowing "what I thought only children . . . knew" that you had to "fling yourself at what you're doing" () with the singlemindedness of a child.

Recent Development In Ego Psychology and Object Relations/Final Assignment on Heinz KohutIn order to thoroughly illustrate the main structural, developmental, psychopathological concepts, and treatment principles of Dr. Kohut's work, a patient case history will be presented. Using two of Dr. Kohut's major works, The Analysis Of The Self and The Restoration Of The Self, the writer will attempt to explain the major therapeutic concepts of narcissism, including the therapeutic activation of the omnipotent object and the therapeutic activation of the grandiose self. Dr. Kohut's therapeutic concepts will be discussed with the use of the patient's personal and family history, as reported by him during weekly counseling sessions with the writer. The patient, Nick, was referred to the clinic in May 18 by his family physician for personal problems. At the onset of treatment, Nick was thirty-one years old. He was quite well functioning and had never received psychiatric treatment. Nick was in good physical health; he reported that he did not have a history of mental illness in his family.Nick's referral form stated that he was experiencing mild depression and that he wished to speak to an "experienced therapist" in greater detail about his condition.
Kohut writes "The therapeutic activation of the omnipotent object (the idealized parent imago), which will be referred to as the idealizing transference, is the revival during psychoanalysis of one of the two aspects of an early phase of psychic development. It is the state in which, after being exposed to the disturbance of the psychological equilibrium of primary narcissism, the psyche saves a part of the lost experience of global narcissistic perfection by assigning to it an archaic rudimentary (transitional) self-object, the idealized parent imago. Since all bliss and power now reside in the idealized object, the child feels empty and powerless when he is separated from it and he attempts, therefore, to maintain a continuous union with it (Kohut, 171)."In regards to the excerpt mentioned above, and in Nick's particular case, "the idealizing transference" may have been activated on a number of different occasions. Nick's search for the idealized parent imago and his search for some form of narcissistic perfection was visible in his individual counseling sessions, especially when he felt or experienced separation from the writer. The separation Nick felt may have been invoked by his belief that the writer, as well as other people in his life, were unable to be empathic during moments when he felt empty and powerless. Nick's imbalance in his narcissistic equilibrium may have had its roots in his early childhood development, especially when considering his relationship with his mother. Nick described his mother as "depressed" and often tiredshe did not play with himshe was continually preoccupied and self-absorbed with Please note that this sample paper on ego is for your review only. Frederick DouglassThe effect of family valuesThe life of Frederick Douglass as a narrative is a unique and intriguing masterpiece. This narrative irradiates on a whole lot of divergent issues affecting the black family who where under the oppression of slavery. This is also about a man who was born in the cradle of oppression who never allows the mal-treatment of slavery break his spirited soul and his determination to be free.Family is a unit that literally passes on important values from one generation to another. These values may help to nurture, educate, or encourage disciplines in every member, and more importantly create an awareness of which an individual is, and what make him or her what he or she is. In the case of Frederick Douglass, he was born not unto a well-defined family that is characterized by the above points. This is supported by the fact that his mother was a slave, and his father, ironically, a slave master. Fortunately Frederick Douglass was taken care of by his grandmother when he was separated from his mother at birth. According to the narrative, black slave mothers are separated from their infants immediately when they give birth. Through this method, family values are decapitated thus creating a state of isolation wherein elements of family values are unquestionably absence. Frederick Douglass describes the splitting of the family to be one of the cruel consequences of slavery. Born into the spotlight of oppression, Frederick Douglass did not know what true family is; he knew he had a mother, but she was miles away from him. Douglass' knowledge of his father, who should have taught him how to grow up and be a responsible man, was an imagination. There were a lot of questions racing through the mind of young Douglass but the issue of family now, seems not to bother him much. The issue of family now, had no relative effect on Frederick more than his desire to survive the brutal treatment of slavery. We see this in his aging and as he went from one plantation to another, from one slave master to another and how he realize he at time almost considered his slave masters to be his families.Over the years Frederick Douglass have learn a great deal from his experiences and instead of family depositing a sense of values in him he learn from oppression and turn the negative effect of slavery into something positive. By learning how to fight the system of oppression using the only mean more effective, education. Please note that this sample paper on the birds and bees is for your review only.
