Astronaut Formal Training In order to become an astronaut, there are many different training tests and programs you have to take and pass. People wanting to become astronauts begin their formal space transportation system training during the year they become candidates. The candidate starts off by reading manuals and by taking computer-based training lessons on the different Orbiter systems, which range from propulsion to environmental control. Next, the candidates have to do the single system's trainer (SST). In this process, each astronaut is accompanied with an instructor who helps teach about the operations of each Orbiter subsystem. The soon to be formal astronauts, are trained in the SSTs to operate each system, to recognize malfunctions, and to perform corrective actions. After the astronauts complete the SST training program, they begin training in the complex Shuttle Mission Simulators (SMS). The SMS provide the astronauts with knowledge in all the areas of shuttle vehicle operations and in all system tasks having to do with the major flight phases. The major flight phases include prelaunch, ascent, orbit operations, entry, and landing. The orbit training includes payload operation, payload deployment, retrieval, and maneuvers. Some of these parts are taught to the astronauts at various base crew stations. In the beginning, astronauts use generic training software in the SMS until they are assigned to a specific flight. Approximately ten months before flight, astronauts train on a flight simulator with actual flight-specific training software. During the last eleven weeks, the astronauts also train with the flight controllers in the Mission Control Center (MCC). The astronauts and flight controllers learn to work as a team, solving problems and working together. After the flight assignment, the astronauts are in the SMS for about 00 hours. In addition to all previous training, the astronauts also have to go through programs that work with neutral buoyancy operations in the facility water tank to represent the weightless condition that the astronauts will experience when up in space. They also practice meal preparation, equipment stowage, trash management, and the use of cameras. Astronauts often say that everything in training, besides the noise, vibration of the launch, and experience of weightlessness, are accurately duplicates the space experience. On top of more training, the astronauts who participate in the Russian Space Station Mir program receive extensive training of the Russian language before transferring to the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. As you can see, to become an astronaut requires a lot of training in various subjects and programs. However, when an astronaut does complete the training, he or she is then ready for a flight into space, which for many is fulfilling a dream. Hard work and much training is a must in becoming an astronaut.

Carl Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist and brief colleague of Sigmund Freud who parted ways over a personal dispute over the unconscious mind. Jung was a rarely understood independent thinker who rejected Freud's deduction that the primary motivation behind behavior was sexual urges such as that all women have penis envy. Jung instead believed that people are motivated by a psychological energy that inspires people to achieve psychological growth, self-realization and harmony. I honestly agree with Jung more than I do Freud. To me Freud was a megalomaniac who saw women as inferior beings. All I have to say to that, women are capable of having several orgasms for every one their male partner has, given that he's considerate. Freud experimented in drugs and homosexuality and I assume that his obsession with behavior being driven with sexual energies was probably fueled by his erectile disfunction and/or him being trapped in that 4-5 boy mind set where, according to Freud, boys reject their father for their mother but for Frued it was most likely in a sexual manner.
The collective unconscious (universally innate knowledge) is a part of the psyche is inherited and not acquired through life experience. Jung presented this universal knowledge in the form of motifs, which he referred to as archetypes. We often encounter these archetypes in dreams i.e. the shadow is the natural self untarnished by society and anima and animus the male/female counterpart of ourselves which represent our ideal mate. I remember being 1 years old and waking from a dream where I found a person who was the perfect complement to myself and even…well cried a little after waking for fear of never finding that someone in reality. We encounter these archetypes in dreams hence the reason why many cultures that have had little contact with one another share certain similarities in their myths and legends. Examples of this are evident in many pagan religions such as the God of war, a symbol military dominance the Vikings Thor, the Romans Mars, and the Greeks Aries. Some Native American tribes believe that dreams are the conscious mind trying to solve what the subconscious mind can't, which I believe the answers come to you in the forms of Jung's archetypes. Imagine a yin yang, on one side you have your personal conscious which is knowledge acquired through ones life span which distinguishes you as an individual and on the other side you have collective nature identical to all individuals. The uniting or integration of the conscious (thinking) and Unconscious (instinctual) creates the bases for Jungian Psychology. These two forces are in constant conflict. The beliefs that every person starts out as a canvas ready to be molded and shaped by the world and that everything has an explanation has created this conflict. An example is the destruction of the pagan religions with the expansion of Christianity, which is symbolized in the story of David and Goliath and are apparent historically ages of enlightenment (science/mathematical) and renaissance's (art/history).
"Every advance in culture is, psychologically, an extension of consciousness, a coming to consciousness that cant take place only through discrimination" (Carl Jung). Charlie WunderlichFrom decade to decade, there has been a new type of fad to sweep the country. In the 50's it was dancing and having fun. In the 60's it was to dress freely and avoid the draft. The 70's were full of pot smoking has-beens, the 80's, big hair and radical clothing. From the smallest of fads, the children in the 0's have taken a whole new approach to the game. They changed the rules that would affect the country for the rest of their existence. The fad? It is to act out in violence in school against each other, not just fist to fist physical controversy but from one boy's father's gun to another. The new fad is to take a school by a surprise attack and make news headlines. It is quite a change from the early 50's. So the question that boggles every American's mind, is why and how we allowed these children to invade and inhabit our lives and allow them to take the control they have at this point? The question can only be answered by figuring out the exact problem to a "T". We need to figure out every aspect of what they are doing. What are the exact statistics on the teen crime rate? How can we stop it? Let's start by recognizing the problem and deal with it from there. Here is the first step. Here are some solutions to the high rising problem. It is now up to the public to take action. Three-quarters or more of all schools reported having zero tolerance policies for various student offenses. Zero tolerance policy was defined as a school or district policy that mandates predetermined consequences or punishments for specific offenses. About 0 percent of schools reported zero tolerance policies for firearms (4 percent) and weapons other than firearms. 58 percent had policies of zero tolerance for alcohol and drugs, respectively. Seventy-nine percent had a zero tolerance policy for violence and 7 percent had a zero tolerance policy for tobacco. Tobacco seems to be a rising problem on its own, and we, as citizens, teachers and peers, need to do more to let the children know that this behavior is unacceptable, that they are, in fact, still children.
Public school principals were presented with a list of crimes and asked to report the number of incidents of each type of crime that had occurred at their schools during the 16-7 school years. The crimes about which schools were asked were murder, suicide, rape for other type of sexual battery, physical attack or fight with a weapon, robbery, physical attack or fight without a weapon, theft or larceny, and vandalism. Respondents were provided with definitions for each of these types of crime. Under the assumption that crimes or offenses reported to police would be more accurately recalled, schools were asked to report only those incidents for which the police or other law enforcement representatives had been contacted. Only crimes occurring at the school, including those that took place in school buildings, on school grounds, on school buses, and at school-sponsored events or activities, but not officially on school grounds, were to be reported along with about 115,000 thefts and 8,000 incidents of vandalism. When are we going to do something about this? Do you not think that it is time that we start making an effort to make the schools safer for the kids that attend them? Or should we just forget that the children of America are people with rights too?
