The book Monster is really interesting in many ways. It is very unique because the whole entire thing is written as a screenplay for a movie because Steve wants this whole experience of his life, the jail and the trial to be made into a movie. In the beginning, when I started to read it, I found everything too confusing and a little annoying. I had to be familiar with what the things stood for, for example, CP that stands for Close-Up and POV that stands for Point of View. But after a few pages, I ended up getting used to it. Out of the many book I've read, this is not one that I consider boring. The whole plot and the whole story leave you wondering what's going to happen next, what the witnesses are going to say, and what will be the final verdict. The whole journal thing was also sort of strange in the beginning, because I thought it was different, and also the font was too big. I don't know, for some reason, it just felt strange to read a book with that big of a font. But then I realized it; the font is big so it can make the reading a lot easier. It might not seem relevant or important, but it does make a lot of difference when a reading takes too long, or when it's quick and easy. Something else is that everything seems very real and natural. It's not like it's something that would never happen to anyone. It's a common problem, and it happens everyday in the big cities, and there really are trials that go on, just like Steve's. It all leaves you thinking, who is telling the truth, and who isn't? The book doesn't really tell what the actual truth is; it leaves it hanging, so that you can make up your own interpretation of it.
Overall, I thought it was a good book, and I would definitely want to watch the movie. First of all because it's always interesting to see what the directors of the movie are going to pull out of the book and what they're going to leave on the book, and not make it part of the movie. And it also leaves you to think whether the book or the movie was better. Different minds have different opinions.
