When you play a part or a role to disguise your true character it harms you in the end. Hamlet's antic disposition was a tragic error on his part because it let to his eventual demise. Hamlet displays the antic disposition in order to fool Claudius, although Claudius is the only character to not be fooled. When Hamlet denies Ophelia his love, she goes mad and takes her life. Hamlet becomes confused as to whether he is insane or not. For these reasons, Hamlet's decision to portray an antic disposition is a tragic error. When Hamlet found out that Claudius killed his father Hamlet was furious, and got right to work on how to get his fathers revenge. Hamlet went to work by coming up with a plan to act mad so that it would hide the truth from Claudius, which was that Hamlet was going to kill Claudius. Hamlet has no such luck. Claudius does not believe Hamlet's attempt at pretending that he is mad. Was not like madness. There's something in his soul (III; I; 161). This means that Claudius does not believe that Hamlet is insane, but rather has some sort of plan being brewed. Claudius also has a plan that is to kill hamlet. This is ironic because in the end they end up Claudius is in the end murdered by Hamlet. Hamlet must act mad if he wants Claudius to believe him, so Hamlet uses his confrontations with Ophelia to display it. Ophelia is manipulated by Hamlet for his own personal gain. Hamlet uses Ophelia to get the word that he is mad around the kingdom. This is sad because Ophelia is innocent and she ends up committing suicide in the end. One of the way's Hamlet fools Ophelia into believing that he is insane is by scaring her. (II; I;75). I have been so affrighted. Hamlet fools Ophelia into believing that he is mad by killing Polonius behind a curtain in the Gertrude's room. This incident drives Ophelia into becoming insane and leads to her taking her own life. Hamlet spends much of his time pretending to be mad, that he starts to believe that he really is insane. Hamlet feels as if he is losing control when he sees his father's ghost in Gertrude's chambers. Every other time the ghost appeared, someone else saw it as well, only this time his mother did not see it. On him, on him! Look you, how pale he glares! (III; iv; 16) He believes that there is something inside of him that he no longer has control over. I in me something dangerous (V; 1; 5-40) Hamlet begins to believe he should be murdered for his offences, and that he deserves to suffer. My head should be struck off (V;ii;4). Approaching the end of the story, Hamlet can no longer determine whether he is mentally fit and he pays the ultimate price.

In conclusion Hamlet's decision to portray the antic disposition was a tragic error for it led to his eventual demise. In the end, Hamlet did not fool Claudius into believing that he had gone insane. Hamlet had fooled poor Ophelia into believing he was mad, causing her to commit suicide. Hamlet became confused on the matter of whether he had gone mad himself. This year, the year 00 we have come together to celebrate one hundred years of African American success. We come to commemorate one hundred years of struggles and achievements. From the establishment of the NAACP to the fight for Civil Rights in the sixties, we have witnessed racial promotion become more common in the African American communities. Towards the early mark of the century it was common for African Americans to promote racial marginalism. It is now visible, one hundred years later, that we have stepped away from marginalism. As we reflect upon the centennial achievements, we are obligated to think of such achievements as the NAACP, Civil Rights Movement, African Americans in music, drama, sports, and government. However, we tend to neglect African American journals. As we overlook African American Journals we do not see that African American journals, at the beginning of the Centennial Reflection, created African American readers. Such journals such as The Messenger, The Opportunity, The Crisis, and The North Star not only created African Americans writers but African American readers. The last one hundred years comprise of several "African American Time Periods. " These "time periods" are From Reconstruction to the New Negro Renaissance. This age is from the Emancipation Proclamation to the time in which Alain Locke thought there was a "New Negro." This epoch includes such persons as Booker T. Washington, Charles Chesnut, W.E.B DuBois, James Weldon Johnson, and others. The ensuing period is the Harlem Renaissance, in which we are obliged to commemorate such names as Billie Holliday, Cab Calloway, and Duke Ellington. But what we fail to see is that the Harlem Renaissance was an explosion of aptitude, or as W.E.B DuBois would say, "The Talented Ten." Which was referred to as "Ten percent of every generation has God given talent." The Talented Ten, was written by W.E.B DuBois book "Souls of Black Folks." The final period was Realism, Naturalism, and Modernism. This was between the period of 140 to 160. This included such anamnesis as the Civil Rights Movement and Voters Registration law being passed. The Harlem Renaissance has become a time for remembrance, and recognition. This outstanding day in age is now known as a period for phenomenal literature, musical, and artistic vigor and creativity in the U.S. The Harlem Renaissance produced sophisticated explorations of black American life and culture that revealed and stimulated a new confidence and racial pride and promotion.

In conclusion, we see that the African American race has not only come a long way but has overcome numerous obstacles with trophies to show. These trophies are achievements such as desegregation, and civil rights for all. When we say we are showing recognition for the African American race, we cannot compile all of these achievements into only one hundred years. The black race extends further then any textbook can hold. For the last one hundred years we have found that Alain Locke's book "The New Negro" was not only an idea but a fact, because we have grown from a race that promoted racial marginalism and now have grown to a race that promotes racial pride. The Olive Branch Petition The Olive Branch Petition was drafted by John Dickenson during the Second Continental Congress on July 5 1775. The American Revolution had already started with the Battles of Concord, Lexington and Bunker Hill. The members of the Continental Congress disagreed about what steps to take in order to dissolve the confrontation with the King. Some wanted Independence even if it meant war. The Loyalists did not want to betray King George III, even though they disagreed with taxation without representation. They met a compromise to plea with the King one last time to reach a reasonable solution. They called it the Olive Branch Petition after an ancient symbol of light and peace. According to biblical reference, the oil from the fruit of one olive tree can supply the needs for one family for a long time. The petition declared the colonies loyal to the King and said they only want peace with England. On July 8, 1775, the members of the Continental Congress signed the document and sent it to the King. Among the signatures were those of John Hancock, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, John Adams, Tomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, John Jay, Lewis Morris, Roger Sherman, and other founding fathers. King George refused to read the petition. He said it was an illegal document created by an illegal congress. On August , 1775, he proclaimed that the colonists had "proceeded to open and avowed rebellion".

The Olive Branch Petition represents the final effort of the Colonists to amend the differences with the mother country. Some people think that if the King had accepted the petition the Americans would have fought for Independence nevertheless. The petition would have patched things up with the colonists and the mother country for a short time. Sooner or later more differences would arise, and more colonists would want to fight for independence than did before. One way that the war for Independence could have been avoided is if the mother country had some representation in the colonies, such as a King. Some make it seem that the Loyalists did not want war with the King because they had a strong faith to the British Crown. There was still a large majority of colonists who felt strong about Independence. The reason the petition was drafted was just to compromise with the Loyalists. The Loyalists did not agree with taxes and laws that the King declared. The betrayal was not protested because of faith, but because of fear that America would be taken over by another country. If another super power country of the time did in fact take over, the colonists would have even more differences than with their mother country. One major difference the loyalists were concerned about was religions; they did not practice the same religion as other super power countries. If the Loyalists were so extreme with their commitment with the King they would have not left the mother country. So the Loyalists weren't against war because they were worried about causalities or betraying the King. I think they just intimidated by the British military. The colonists were out numbered and the British were known as being the best army. The Loyalists wanted independence but, they doubted their own military and feared Please note that this sample paper on The Olive Branch Petition is for your review only. political service of the Florentine republic and rose rapidly in importance after the invasion of King Charles VIII, which caused his father to go bankrupt from economic decline. As defense secretary he substituted a citizens militia for the mercenary system then prevailing in Italy. This reform sprang from his conviction, set forth in his major works, that the employment of mercenaries had largely contributed to the political weakness of Italy. Machiavelli became acquainted with power politics through his important diplomatic missions. The Medici returned and caused Machiavelli's militia to surrender without a fight and forced the Republic to an end and his dismissal. He was briefly imprisoned and was tortured for his alleged complicity in a plot against the Medici. Machiavelli retired to his country estate, where he wrote his chief works. The first of his works was The Prince, in which he used a the story of a prince and how the prince must command a citizen army and keep it disciplined by a reputation of cruelty. Machiavelli also stated in his book how his prince is to disregard the accepted rules of politics, and to hit below the belt, meaning if you must lie then do so, and violate treaties. Interpretations of The Prince vary it has been viewed as sincere advice, as a plea for political office, as a detached analysis of Italian politics, as evidence of early Italian nationalism, and as political ridicule on Medici rule. However, the adjective "Machiavellian" has come to be a synonym for unethical cleverness and for justification by power. The main theme of the article " Machiavelli" is show his peculiar cast of mind as an imaginative artist that writes playwrights obsessed with extreme dramatic situations.B. I think Vincent Cronin did a very good job on this article, once again it informed me of things that I never knew about Niccolo Machiavelli. The author used very good sources and explained how Machiavelli came up with his way of thinking, he just hated to be defeated. I really don't see him as a bad man just because of what he wrote in his books because the article shows how some of the kings or rulers used a least some concept of Machiavellis works. The article was brief, but the author collected a lot of informative information to keep your attention. I really like the way the author stated how Machiavelli used historical facts from variety of authors not of the same period and used the facts to draw a conclusion or answer a important questions.C. The signifigance of this article was to give us another frame a mind about Niccolo Macheavelli. I really don't believe that he was this just this murderer and evil person, but I just think that he had a very imaginative way of thinking he was an artist, and to be an artist you must have a vivid imagination. In his lifetime he was considered a failure but it has been decades and his legacy of works still live on, maybe not to be used in our day and time, but we still use it to teach and inform. Please note that this sample paper on MACHIAVELLI is for your review only. city will receive for a month. The limitations seem to never end, but David Rothenberg has came to the conclusion that computers are not as great as they appear to be. He discusses how he feels in his essay "How the Web Destroys the Quality of Research Papers." Rothenberg totally disagrees with the fact of using the web for the main source for a research for a paper. For him, "[i]t's easy to spot a research paper that is based primarily on information collected from the Web" (Rothenberg 610). He notices that when his students make their work cited page, there are many "www.etc" references rather than book references (610). The sources are not very much help for thier paper, but actually takes them away from their originality that he knows his students can produce. Seeing that Web sites contents mainly consists of summaries of someone else's work, that are then they posted it on the website, or they would take information from one person's Web page and then paste it on theirs. He believes there is nothing wrong with doing that since it wouldn't be considered "plagiarism if no author is cited on a Web page" (61). Therefore, there is no exact idea where the original work came from on a Web site being that all the information is being recycled. Rothenberg doesn't blame the children for the usage of computers for research, but the libraries in the colleges "diverting funds from books to technology" (61). Instead of filling the libraries with new books that can expand a child's mind while searching through them, they tend to use the funds on computers that, unlike books, become more useless as the children age. Libraries, unlike search engines which are compared to "slot machines than to library catalogues", are to be centers of information where one can grab a book on any subject, and then as they search through the book they tend to learn other things (611). Libraries also separate themselves from computers by giving direct links to the information that is needed to complete a research, but computers will give you the "hunt and peck method" which will possibly give you hundred of thousands of results in which only a few of them will actually become useful towards the research paper. Finally he describes how using a computer can not only correct their grammatical errors in their paper, but if adjusted properly a paper can be made twice its original length. One can simply "readjust the margin, change the font size, and . . . voila" a students page can reach its desired length without adding extra text (611). Computer are supposed to be the most wonderful inventions of our times. Something that should make life easier and release stress from our everyday lives. But does it tend to make life a little too easy for us? So easy that it makes us totally lazy and allows us to type a few words and a task can be performed with little to no effort at all. If a computer is a students first resource for incomplete information that will give them an effortless paper, then what will be the next step? Will it reduce the jobs of people when a computer is used to complete work?
