Annie Dillard's essay Living Like Weasels is a story of her encounter with a wild weasel at a place called Hollins Pond. The pond is a quiet place about twenty minutes from her house where she liked to go at sunset and sit on a tree trunk (Dillard 0). She finds a story of a man who shot an eagle out of the sky and found a dry skull of a weasel attached by the jaws to its throat. And says Obedient to instinct, he bites his prey at the neck, either splitting the jugular vein at the throat or crunching the brain at the base of the skull, and he does not let go. (Dillard 0) Again, at first thought, this natural principle of the weasel is not something I would ever think of to apply to my life.
